He said:וַיֹּאמַר“YHWHיְהוָהis my cragסַלְעִיand my fortressוּמְצֻדָתִיand the one who brings me to safety;וּמְפַלְטִי לִי
Elohim,אֱלֹהֵיmy Rock,צוּרִיin whomבּוֹI take refuge;אֶחֱסֶהmy shieldמָגִנִּיand the hornוְקֶרֶןof my salvation,יִשְׁעִיmy high refugeמִשְׂגַּבִּיand the place where I flee,וּמְנוּסִיmy savior;מֹשִׁעִיfrom violenceמֵחָמָסyou save me.תֹּשִׁעֵנִי
I callאֶקְרָאon YHWH,יְהוָהworthy of praise,מְהֻלָּלand from my enemiesוּמֵאֹיְבַיI am saved.אִוָּשֵׁעַ
Forכִּיthe wavesמִשְׁבְּרֵיof deathמָוֶתencompassed me;אֲפָפֻנִיthe torrentsנַחֲלֵיof wickednessבְלִיַּעַלterrified me.יְבַעֲתֻנִי
The cordsחֶבְלֵיof Sheolשְׁאוֹלsurrounded me;סַבֻּנִיthe snaresמֹקְשֵׁיof deathמָוֶתconfronted me.קִדְּמֻנִי
In my distressבַּצַּר לִיI calledאֶקְרָאon YHWH,יְהוָהand toוְאֶלmy ElohimאֱלֹהַיI called;אֶקְרָאhe heardוַיִּשְׁמַעfrom his templeמֵהֵיכָלוֹmy voice,קוֹלִיand my cryוְשַׁוְעָתִיcame to his ears.בְּאָזְנָיו
The earthהָאָרֶץshookוַיִּתְגָּעַשׁand quaked;וַתִּרְעַשׁthe foundationsמוֹסְדוֹתof the heavensהַשָּׁמַיִםtrembledיִרְגָּזוּand shook,וַיִּתְגָּעֲשׁוּbecauseכִּיhe burned with anger.חָרָה לוֹ
Smokeעָשָׁןwent upעָלָהfrom his nostrils,בְּאַפּוֹand fireוְאֵשׁfrom his mouthמִפִּיוdevoured;תֹּאכֵלcoalsגֶּחָלִיםblazedבָּעֲרוּfrom him.מִמֶּנּוּ
He bentוַיֵּטthe heavensשָׁמַיִםand came down,וַיֵּרַדand thick cloudוַעֲרָפֶלwas underתַּחַתhis feet.רַגְלָיו
He rodeוַיִּרְכַּבonעַלa cherubכְּרוּבand flew;וַיָּעֹףhe was seenוַיֵּרָאonעַלthe wingsכַּנְפֵיof the wind.רוּחַ
He madeוַיָּשֶׁתdarknessחֹשֶׁךְaround himסְבִיבֹתָיוhis booths,סֻכּוֹתa massחַשְׁרַתof waters,מַיִםthickעָבֵיclouds.שְׁחָקִים
From the brightnessמִנֹּגַהּbefore himנֶגְדּוֹcoalsגַּחֲלֵיof fireאֵשׁblazed.בָּעֲרוּ
YHWHיְהוָהthunderedיַרְעֵםfromמִןthe heavens,שָׁמַיִםand Elyonוְעֶלְיוֹןgaveיִתֵּןhis voice.קוֹלוֹ
He sent outוַיִּשְׁלַחarrowsחִצִּיםand scattered them,וַיְפִיצֵםlightning,בָּרָקand threw them into confusion.וַיָּהֹם
The channelsאֲפִקֵיof the seaיָםwere seen;וַיֵּרָאוּthe foundationsמֹסְדוֹתof the worldתֵּבֵלwere laid bareיִגָּלוּat the rebukeבְּגַעֲרַתof YHWH,יְהוָהat the breathמִנִּשְׁמַתof the windרוּחַof his nostrils.אַפּוֹ
He reached outיִשְׁלַחfrom on high,מִמָּרוֹםhe took me,יִקָּחֵנִיhe drew me outיַמְשֵׁנִיof manyמִ רַבִּיםwaters.מַּיִם
He delivered meיַצִּילֵנִיfrom my strongעָזenemy,מֵאֹיְבִיfrom those who hate me,מִשֹּׂנְאַיforכִּיthey were strongerאָמְצוּthan I.מִמֶּנִּי
They confronted meיְקַדְּמֻנִיon the dayבְּיוֹםof my calamity,אֵידִיbut YHWHוַ יְהוָהwasיְהִיmy support.מִשְׁעָן לִי
He brought me outוַיֹּצֵא אֹתִיinto a broad place;לַמֶּרְחָבhe set me free,יְחַלְּצֵנִיbecauseכִּיhe delightedחָפֵץin me.בִּי
YHWHיְהוָהrepaid meיִגְמְלֵנִיaccording to my righteousness;כְּצִדְקָתִיaccording to the cleannessכְּבֹרof my handsיָדַיhe returned itיָשִׁיבto me.לִי
ForכִּיI have keptשָׁמַרְתִּיthe waysדַּרְכֵיof YHWHיְהוָהand have notוְלֹאacted wickedly,רָשַׁעְתִּיdeparting from my Elohim.מֵאֱלֹהָי
Forכִּיallכָלhis rulesמִשְׁפָּטָיוare before me,לְנֶגְדִּיand from his statutesוְחֻקֹּתָיוI do notלֹאturn aside.אָסוּר מִמֶּנָּה
I wasוָאֶהְיֶהblamelessתָמִיםbefore him,לוֹand I kept myselfוָאֶשְׁתַּמְּרָהfrom my iniquity.מֵעֲוֺנִי
So YHWHוַ יְהוָהhas returned it to meיָּשֶׁב לִיaccording to my righteousness,כְּצִדְקָתִיaccording to my cleannessכְּבֹרִיbeforeלְנֶגֶדhis eyes.עֵינָיו
Withעִםthe faithfulחָסִידyou show yourself faithful;תִּתְחַסָּדwithעִםthe blamelessתָּמִיםmighty manגִּבּוֹרyou show yourself blameless;תִּתַּמָּם
withעִםthe cleanנָבָרyou show yourself clean,תִּתָּבָרand withוְעִםthe crookedעִקֵּשׁyou show yourself tortuous.תִּתַּפָּל
Andוְafflictedעָנִיpeopleעַםyou save,תּוֹשִׁיעַbut your eyesוְעֵינֶיךָare onעַלthe haughty,רָמִיםwhom you bring low.תַּשְׁפִּיל
Forכִּיyouאַתָּהare my lamp,נֵירִיYHWH,יְהוָהand YHWHוַיהוָהlights upיַגִּיהַּmy darkness.חָשְׁכִּי
Forכִּיby youבְכָהI runאָרוּץagainst a troop;גְּדוּדby my ElohimבֵּאלֹהַיI leap overאֲדַלֶּגa wall.שׁוּר
The Elהָאֵל—blameless isתָּמִיםhis way;דַּרְכּוֹthe sayingאִמְרַתof YHWHיְהוָהis refined;צְרוּפָהhe isהוּאa shieldמָגֵןto allלְכֹלwho take refugeהַחֹסִיםin him.בּוֹ
Forכִּיwhoמִיis ElאֵלbesidesמִבַּלְעֲדֵיYHWH?יְהוָהAnd whoוּמִיis a Rockצוּרbesidesמִבַּלְעֲדֵיour Elohim?אֱלֹהֵינוּ
The Elהָאֵלis my strongחָיִלstronghold,מָעוּזִּיand he sets freeוַיַּתֵּרmy wayדַּרְכִּיblameless.תָּמִים
He makesמְשַׁוֶּהmy feetרַגְלַיlike those of the deer,כָּאַיָּלוֹתand onוְעַלmy high placesבָּמוֹתַיhe sets me.יַעֲמִדֵנִי
He trainsמְלַמֵּדmy handsיָדַיfor war,לַמִּלְחָמָהand my armsוְ זְרֹעֹתָיbendנִחַתa bowקֶשֶׁתof bronze.נְחוּשָׁה
You have givenוַתִּתֶּןmeלִיthe shieldמָגֵןof your salvation,יִשְׁעֶךָand your answeringוַעֲנֹתְךָmakes me great.תַּרְבֵּנִי
You widenתַּרְחִיבmy stepצַעֲדִיbeneath me,תַּחְתֵּנִיand my anklesקַרְסֻלָּיdo notוְלֹאslip.מָעֲדוּ
I pursuedאֶרְדְּפָהmy enemiesאֹיְבַיand destroyed them,וָאַשְׁמִידֵםand I did notוְלֹאturn backאָשׁוּבuntilעַדI had consumed them.כַּלּוֹתָם
I consumed themוָאֲכַלֵּםand crushed them,וָאֶמְחָצֵםand they do notוְלֹאrise;יְקוּמוּןthey fellוַיִּפְּלוּunderתַּחַתmy feet.רַגְלָי
You girded meוַתַּזְרֵנִיwith strengthחַיִלfor battle;לַמִּלְחָמָהyou made bow downתַּכְרִיעַbeneath meתַּחְתֵּנִיthose who rise against me.קָמַי
My enemiesוְאֹיְבַיyou madeתַּתָּהturn their backsעֹרֶףto me;לִּיthose who hate me,מְשַׂנְאַיI annihilated them.וָאַצְמִיתֵם
They looked,יִשְׁעוּbut there was noוְאֵיןsavior;מֹשִׁיעַthey looked to YHWH,אֶל יְהוָהbut he did notוְלֹאanswer them.עָנָם
I ground themוְאֶשְׁחָקֵםlike the dustכַּעֲפַרof the earth;אָרֶץlike the mudכְּטִיטof the streetsחוּצוֹתI crushed them,אֲדִקֵּםI stamped them down.אֶרְקָעֵם
You brought me to safetyוַתְּפַלְּטֵנִיfrom the disputesמֵרִיבֵיof my people;עַמִּיyou kept meתִּשְׁמְרֵנִיas headלְרֹאשׁof nations;גּוֹיִםa peopleעַםI did notלֹאknowיָדַעְתִּיserves me.יַעַבְדֻנִי
Foreignersבְּנֵי נֵכָרfeign submissionיִתְכַּחֲשׁוּto me;לִיas soon as they hearלִשְׁמוֹעַwith the ear,אֹזֶןthey listenיִשָּׁמְעוּto me.לִי
Foreignersבְּנֵי נֵכָרwither,יִבֹּלוּand they come out girdedוְיַחְגְּרוּfrom their strongholds.מִמִּסְגְּרוֹתָם
YHWHיְהוָהlives,חַיand blessed beוּבָרוּךְmy Rock;צוּרִיexalted beוְיָרֻםElohim,אֱלֹהֵיthe Rockצוּרof my salvation,יִשְׁעִי
the Elהָאֵלwho givesהַנֹּתֵןvengeanceנְקָמֹתto meלִיand brings downוּמוֹרִידpeoplesעַמִּיםbeneath me,תַּחְתֵּנִי
and who brings me outוּמוֹצִיאִיfrom my enemies;מֵאֹיְבָיabove those who rise against meוּמִקָּמַיyou exalt me;תְּרוֹמְמֵנִיfrom the manמֵאִישׁof violenceחֲמָסִיםyou deliver me.תַּצִּילֵנִי
Thereforeעַל כֵּןI will give you thanks,אוֹדְךָYHWH,יְהוָהamong the nations,בַּגּוֹיִםand to your nameוּלְשִׁמְךָI will sing psalms.אֲזַמֵּר
He is a towerמִגְדּוֹלof salvationsיְשׁוּעוֹתfor his king,מַלְכּוֹand showsוְעֹשֶׂהloyal loveחֶסֶדto his anointed,לִמְשִׁיחוֹto Davidלְדָוִדand to his offspringוּלְזַרְעוֹforever.”עַד עוֹלָם
