Study it word by word6By the word of YHWH the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their army.
7He gathers like a heap the waters of the sea; he puts in storehouses the deeps.
8Let all the earth fear YHWH; of him let all the inhabitants of the world be afraid.
9For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.
In its context
4For upright is the word of YHWH, and all his work is in faithfulness.
5He loves righteousness and justice; of the loyal love of YHWH the earth is full.

11The counsel of YHWH stands firm forever, the thoughts of his heart from generation to generation.
Its words in the original
- דְבַרdevar· word, matter, thing
Word; what is said. Also "matter" or "thing": what is spoken about, an affair, an event.
- יְהוָהyehva· YHWH
The personal name of the God of Israel, written in Hebrew with four letters, Y-H-W-H, without vowels. Out of reverence Jews stopped pronouncing it and read "Adonai" (Lord), so many Bibles put "the LORD" or "Jehovah". This translation keeps the four letters. The name is related to the verb "to be" (Exodus 3:14-15). He is not a god other than Elohim: "YHWH Elohim" is the same Creator God, called by his name.
- שָׁמַיִםshamayim· heavens, sky
The heavens: what is above, where the clouds, the sun and the stars are seen; also the dwelling of God. In Hebrew it is always plural. With birds, "the sky".
