A calmמַרְפֵּאtongueלָשׁוֹןis a treeעֵץof life,חַיִּיםbut crookednessוְסֶלֶףin itבָּהּis a breakingשֶׁבֶרof the spirit.בְּרוּחַ
A foolאֱוִילspurnsיִנְאַץthe correctionמוּסַרof his father,אָבִיוbut whoever heedsוְשֹׁמֵרreproofתּוֹכַחַתbecomes shrewd.יַעְרִם
In the houseבֵּיתof the righteousצַדִּיקis muchרָבtreasure,חֹסֶןbut in the produceוּבִתְבוּאַתof the wickedרָשָׁעis trouble.נֶעְכָּרֶת
The lipsשִׂפְתֵיof the wiseחֲכָמִיםscatterיְזָרוּknowledge,דָעַתbut the heartוְלֵבof the senselessכְּסִילִיםis notלֹאso.כֵן
The sacrificeזֶבַחof the wickedרְשָׁעִיםis an abominationתּוֹעֲבַתto YHWH,יְהוָהbut the prayerוּתְפִלַּתof the uprightיְשָׁרִיםis his pleasure.רְצוֹנוֹ
An abominationתּוֹעֲבַתto YHWHיְהוָהis the wayדֶּרֶךְof the wicked,רָשָׁעbut whoever pursuesוּמְרַדֵּףrighteousnessצְדָקָהhe loves.יֶאֱהָב
Harshרָעcorrectionמוּסָרis for whoever abandonsלְעֹזֵבthe path;אֹרַחwhoever hatesשׂוֹנֵאreproofתוֹכַחַתwill die.יָמוּת
Sheolשְׁאוֹלand Abaddonוַאֲבַדּוֹןare beforeנֶגֶדYHWH;יְהוָהhow much moreאַף כִּיthe heartsלִבּוֹתof human beings!בְּנֵי אָדָם
A scofferלֵץdoes notלֹאloveיֶאֱהַבone who reproves him;הוֹכֵחַ לוֹtoאֶלthe wiseחֲכָמִיםhe will notלֹאgo.יֵלֵךְ
A gladשָׂמֵחַheartלֵבmakes the face good,יֵיטִב פָּנִיםbut by the painוּבְעַצְּבַתof the heartלֵבthe spiritרוּחַis crushed.נְכֵאָה
The heartלֵבof the discerningנָבוֹןseeksיְבַקֶּשׁknowledge,דָּעַתbut the mouthוּפִיof the senselessכְסִילִיםfeedsיִרְעֶהon folly.אִוֶּלֶת

Plansמַחֲשָׁבוֹתare frustratedהָפֵרwhere there is noבְּאֵיןcounsel,סוֹדbut with an abundanceוּבְרֹבof counselorsיוֹעֲצִיםthey stand.תָּקוּם

The earאֹזֶןthat listensשֹׁמַעַתto the reproofתּוֹכַחַתof lifeחַיִּיםwill dwellתָּלִיןin the midstבְּקֶרֶבof the wise.חֲכָמִים
Whoever ignoresפּוֹרֵעַcorrectionמוּסָרdespisesמוֹאֵסhis soul,נַפְשׁוֹbut whoever listensוְשׁוֹמֵעַto reproofתּוֹכַחַתacquiresקוֹנֶהsense.לֵּב
