7-day plan: Who Jesus Is
Who Jesus is, what he said about himself, and what he did among us
One passage a day, with a question to think it over. Your progress stays on this device, no account needed.
Day 1 · Foretold long before
God tells the serpent that the woman's offspring will strike it on the head
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he will strike you on the head, and you will strike him on the heel.”
Genesis 3:15 · Read the whole chapterTo think about
When you fail, how can you come near to Elohim instead of hiding, as the man did (v. 8)?
Day 2 · The Word made flesh
John begins before creation: the Word was with God and was God
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.
John 1:1–5 · Read the whole chapterTo think about
Jesus asked the first disciples, “What are you looking for?” and invited them, “Come and you will see” (vv. 38-39). What are you looking for today?
Day 3 · Son of God and Son of Man
Daniel sees one like a son of man given dominion over all peoples
I was looking in the visions of the night, and look, with the clouds of the heavens one like a son of man was coming, and he came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought him near before him. And to him was given dominion and honor and kingdom, and all the peoples, nations, and languages will serve him; his dominion is an eternal dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom one that will not be destroyed.

Day 4 · What he said about himself

Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I tell you, before Abraham came to be, I am.”
John 8:58 · Read the whole chapterTo think about
The accusers left one by one when Jesus spoke about sin (v. 9). When is it your turn to look at yourself before pointing at others?
Day 5 · What he did
In his hometown he reads Isaiah and says the good news for the poor is fulfilled today
And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up; and according to his custom he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him, and unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to proclaim freedom to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send away the oppressed in freedom, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.” And rolling up the scroll and giving it back to the attendant, he sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. And he began to say to them, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
Luke 4:16–21 · Read the whole chapterTo think about
Jesus came to bring good news to the poor and freedom to the oppressed. Who near you could you bring some of that to?
Day 6 · Foretold long before
Abraham is promised offspring through whom all the nations of the earth will be blessed
The angel of YHWH called to Abraham a second time from the heavens and said, “By myself I have sworn, declares YHWH, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only one, that I will surely bless you and will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of the heavens and as the sand that is on the shore of the sea; and your offspring will possess the gate of its enemies. And through your offspring all the nations of the earth will bless themselves, because you listened to my voice.”

What is hard for you to place in Elohim’s hands, and how can you talk with him about it?
Day 7 · The Word made flesh
The Word became flesh and lived among us, full of grace and truth
And the Word became flesh and pitched his tent among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and of truth.
