Ifεἴanyoneτιςthinksδοκεῖhe has come to knowἐγνωκέναιsomething,τιhe has not yetοὔπωknownἔγνωasκαθὼςhe oughtδεῖto know.γνῶναι
ButδέifεἰanyoneτιςlovesἀγαπᾷGod,τὸν θεόνthat oneοὗτοςis knownἔγνωσταιbyὑπ’him.αὐτοῦ
So,οὖνconcerningΠερὶthe eatingτῆς βρώσεωςof food sacrificed to idols,τῶν εἰδωλοθύτωνwe knowοἴδαμενthatὅτιan idolεἴδωλονis nothingοὐδὲνinἐνthe world,κόσμῳandκαὶthatὅτιthere is noοὐδεὶςGodθεὸςbutεἰ μὴone.εἷς
Forγὰρevenκαὶifεἴπερthere areεἰσὶνso-calledλεγόμενοιgods,θεοὶwhetherεἴτεinἐνheavenοὐρανῷorεἴτεonἐπὶearthγῆς(asὥσπερthere areεἰσὶνmanyπολλοὶgodsθεοὶandκαὶmanyπολλοίlords),κύριοι
yetἀλλ’for usἡμῖνthere isoneεἷςGod,θεὸςthe Father,ὁ πατήρfromἐξwhomοὗareall things,τὰ πάνταandκαὶweἡμεῖςforεἰςhim,αὐτόνandκαὶoneεἷςLord,κύριοςJesusἸησοῦςthe Messiah,Χριστόςthroughδι’whomοὗareall things,τὰ πάνταandκαὶweἡμεῖςthroughδι’him.αὐτοῦ
ButἈλλ’notοὐκinἐνeveryoneπᾶσινisthis knowledge;ἡ γνῶσιςbutδὲsome,τινὲςthroughτῇbeing accustomedσυνηθείᾳuntilἕωςnowἄρτιto the idol,τοῦ εἰδώλουeatἐσθίουσινthe foodasὡςsacrificed to an idol,εἰδωλόθυτονandκαὶtheirἡ αὐτῶνconscience,συνείδησιςbeingοὖσαweak,ἀσθενὴςis defiled.μολύνεται
Nowδὲfoodβρῶμαwill notοὐbringπαραστήσειusἡμᾶςclose toτῷGod;θεῷforγὰρneitherοὔτεifἐὰνwe eatφάγωμενare we better off,περισσεύομενnorοὔτεifἐὰνwe do notμὴeatφάγωμενare we worse off.ὑστερούμεθα
Butδὲwatch outβλέπετεthatthisαὕτηrightἡ ἐξουσίαof yoursὑμῶνdoes notμήsomehowπωςbecomeγένηταιa cause of stumblingπρόσκομμαto the weak.τοῖς ἀσθενέσιν
Forγάρifἐὰνanyoneτιςseesἴδῃyou,σὲthe one whoτὸνhasἔχονταknowledge,γνῶσινreclining at tableκατακείμενονinἐνan idol’s temple,εἰδωλείῳwill notοὐχὶhisαὐτοῦconscience,ἡ συνείδησιςsince he isὄντοςweak,ἀσθενοῦςbe built upοἰκοδομηθήσεταιtoεἰς τὸeatἐσθίεινfood sacrificed to idols?τὰ εἰδωλόθυτα
Forγὰρthe one who is weakὁ ἀσθενῶνis destroyedἀπόλλυταιbyἐνyourτῇ σῇknowledge,γνώσειthe brotherὁ ἀδελφὸςforδι’whomὃνthe MessiahΧριστὸςdied.ἀπέθανεν
Andδὲso,οὕτωςsinningἁμαρτάνοντεςagainstεἰςthe brothersτοὺς ἀδελφοὺςandκαὶwoundingτύπτοντεςtheirαὐτῶνconscienceτὴν συνείδησινwhen it is weak,ἀσθενοῦσανyou sinἁμαρτάνετεagainstεἰςthe Messiah.Χριστὸν
Therefore,διόπερifεἰfoodβρῶμαcausesσκανδαλίζειmyμουbrotherτὸν ἀδελφόνto stumble,σκανδαλίζειI will neverοὐ μὴeatφάγωmeatκρέαagain,εἰς τὸν αἰῶναso thatἵναI may notμὴcauseσκανδαλίσωmyμουbrotherτὸν ἀδελφόνto stumble.σκανδαλίσω
