Forγὰρyou yourselvesαὐτοὶknowοἴδατεwellἀκριβῶςthatὅτιthe dayἡμέραof the Lordκυρίουcomesἔρχεταιjustοὕτωςlikeὡςa thiefκλέπτηςinἐνthe night.νυκτὶ
Whenὅτανthey say,λέγωσιν“PeaceΕἰρήνηandκαὶsecurity,”ἀσφάλειαthenτότεsuddenαἰφνίδιοςdestructionὄλεθροςcomes uponἐφίσταταιthem,αὐτοῖςlikeὥσπερlabor painsἡ ὠδὶνon a woman who is pregnant,τῇ ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσῃandκαὶthey will certainly notοὐ μὴescape.ἐκφύγωσιν
Butδέyou,ὑμεῖςbrothers,ἀδελφοίareἐστὲnotοὐκinἐνdarkness,σκότειforἵναthe dayἡ ἡμέραto overtakeκαταλάβῃyouὑμᾶςlikeὡςa thief;κλέπτης
forγὰρyouὑμεῖςareἐστεallπάντεςsonsυἱοὶof lightφωτόςandκαὶsonsυἱοὶof the day.ἡμέραςWe areἐσμὲνnotοὐκof the nightνυκτὸςnorοὐδὲof darkness.σκότους
So then,ἄρα οὖνlet us notμὴsleepκαθεύδωμενasὡςthe rest do,οἱ λοιποίbutἀλλὰlet us keep watchγρηγορῶμενandκαὶbe sober.νήφωμεν
Forγὰρthose who sleepοἱ καθεύδοντεςsleepκαθεύδουσινat night,νυκτὸςandκαὶthose who get drunkοἱ μεθυσκόμενοιare drunkμεθύουσινat night.νυκτὸς
Butδὲwe,ἡμεῖςsince we areὄντεςof the day,ἡμέραςlet us be sober,νήφωμενhaving put onἐνδυσάμενοιthe breastplateθώρακαof faithπίστεωςandκαὶlove,ἀγάπηςandκαὶas a helmetπερικεφαλαίανthe hopeἐλπίδαof salvation.σωτηρίας
ForὅτιGodὁ θεὸςdid notοὐκappointἔθετοusἡμᾶςforεἰςwrathὀργὴνbutἀλλὰforεἰςobtainingπεριποίησινsalvationσωτηρίαςthroughδιὰour Lordτοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶνJesusἸησοῦthe Messiah,Χριστοῦ
who diedτοῦ ἀποθανόντοςforπερὶus,ἡμῶνso thatἵναwhetherεἴτεwe keep watchγρηγορῶμενorεἴτεsleepκαθεύδωμενwe may liveζήσωμενtogetherἅμαwithσὺνhim.αὐτῷ
Thereforeδιὸcomfortπαρακαλεῖτεone anotherἀλλήλουςandκαὶbuild upοἰκοδομεῖτεoneεἷςanother,τὸν ἕναjust asκαθὼςyou are alsoκαὶdoing.ποιεῖτε
Butδὲwe askἘρωτῶμενyou,ὑμᾶςbrothers,ἀδελφοίto acknowledgeεἰδέναιthose who laborτοὺς κοπιῶνταςamongἐνyouὑμῖνandκαὶleadπροϊσταμένουςyouὑμῶνinἐνthe Lordκυρίῳandκαὶadmonishνουθετοῦνταςyou,ὑμᾶς
andκαὶto esteemἡγεῖσθαιthemαὐτοὺςvery highlyὑπερεκπερισσοῦinἐνloveἀγάπῃbecause ofδιὰ τὸtheir work.ἔργον αὐτῶνBe at peaceεἰρηνεύετεamongἐνyourselves.ἑαυτοῖς
Andδὲwe exhortπαρακαλοῦμενyou,ὑμᾶςbrothers:ἀδελφοίadmonishνουθετεῖτεthe disorderly,τοὺς ἀτάκτουςencourageπαραμυθεῖσθεthe fainthearted,τοὺς ὀλιγοψύχουςhelpἀντέχεσθεthe weak,τῶν ἀσθενῶνbe patientμακροθυμεῖτεwithπρὸςall.πάντας
See thatὁρᾶτε μήno oneτιςrepaysἀποδῷanyoneτινιevilκακὸνforἀντὶevil,κακοῦbutἀλλὰalwaysπάντοτεpursueδιώκετεwhat is goodτὸ ἀγαθὸνforεἰςone anotherἀλλήλουςandκαὶforεἰςall.πάντας
