1Jerusalem
Today: Old City of Jerusalem
A city in the hills of Judea, about 22 miles (35 km) west of the Dead Sea and 35 miles (55 km) east of the Mediterranean.
David took it and made it his city (2 Sam 5:7); Solomon built the temple there (1 Kgs 8:1). Jesus was presented there, and the apostles' witness began from it (Luke 2:22; Acts 1:8).
2Mount of Olives
Today: Mount of Olives, East Jerusalem

From there Jesus went up to heaven, and the disciples returned to Jerusalem (Acts 1:9-12).
The context

To study Acts 1 in a group
1. What it says
What does Jesus tell the apostles they will receive, and what will they be, before he is taken up? (v. 8)
2. What it means
Why do you think Jesus does not answer their question about the timing and speaks instead of being witnesses? (vv. 6-8)
3. How I live it
The disciples waited together in prayer (v. 14). What helps you hold steady when you wait for something and do not know when it will come?
