Ephraimאֶפְרַיִםfeeds onרֹעֶהwind,רוּחַand pursuesוְרֹדֵףthe east wind;קָדִיםallכָּלdayהַיּוֹםhe multipliesיַרְבֶּהliesכָּזָבand destruction;וָשֹׁדand they makeוּ יִכְרֹתוּa covenantבְרִיתwithעִםAssyria,אַשּׁוּרand oilוְשֶׁמֶןis carriedיוּבָלto Egypt.לְמִצְרַיִם
And YHWH hasוְ לַיהוָהa disputeרִיבwithעִםJudah,יְהוּדָהand he will callוְלִפְקֹדJacobיַעֲקֹבto accountעַלaccording to his ways;כִּדְרָכָיוaccording to his deedsכְּמַעֲלָלָיוhe will pay backיָשִׁיבto him.לוֹ
In the wombבַּבֶּטֶןhe took his brother by the heel,עָקַב אָחִיוand in his vigorוּבְאוֹנוֹhe stroveשָׂרָהwith Elohim.אֶת אֱלֹהִים
And he stroveוָיָּשַׂרwithאֶלthe angelמַלְאָךְand prevailed;וַיֻּכָלhe weptבָּכָהand pleadedוַיִּתְחַנֶּןwith him;לוֹat Bethelבֵּית אֵלhe found him,יִמְצָאֶנּוּand thereוְשָׁםhe spokeיְדַבֵּרwith us:עִמָּנוּ
YHWH,וַיהוָהElohimאֱלֹהֵיTsevaot,הַצְּבָאוֹתYHWHיְהוָהis his remembrance.זִכְרוֹ
And you,וְאַתָּהto your Elohimבֵּאלֹהֶיךָyou will return;תָשׁוּבkeepשְׁמֹרloyal loveחֶסֶדand justice,וּמִשְׁפָּטand waitוְקַוֵּהfor your Elohimאֶל אֱלֹהֶיךָcontinually.תָּמִיד
A merchant!כְּנַעַןIn his handבְּיָדוֹare scalesמֹאזְנֵיof deceit;מִרְמָהhe lovesאָהֵבto oppress.לַעֲשֹׁק
And Ephraimאֶפְרַיִםsaid,וַיֹּאמֶר“SurelyאַךְI have become rich,עָשַׁרְתִּיI have foundמָצָאתִיwealthאוֹןfor myself;לִיin allכָּלmy laborsיְגִיעַיthey will notלֹאfindיִמְצְאוּin meלִיiniquityעָוֺןthatאֲשֶׁרis sin.”חֵטְא
But Iוְאָנֹכִיam YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָfrom the landמֵאֶרֶץof Egypt;מִצְרָיִםI will againעֹדmake you dwellאוֹשִׁיבְךָin tents,בָאֳהָלִיםas in the daysכִּימֵיof the appointed time.מוֹעֵד
And I spokeוְדִבַּרְתִּיtoעַלthe prophets,הַנְּבִיאִיםand Iוְאָנֹכִיmultipliedהִרְבֵּיתִיvision,חָזוֹןand by the handוּבְיַדof the prophetsהַנְּבִיאִיםI gave parables.אֲדַמֶּה
IfאִםGileadגִּלְעָדis wickedness,אָוֶןsurelyאַךְthey have becomeהָיוּworthless;שָׁוְאin Gilgalבַּגִּלְגָּלthey sacrificedזִבֵּחוּbulls;שְׁוָרִיםalsoגַּםtheir altars areמִזְבְּחוֹתָםlike heapsכְּגַלִּיםonעַלthe furrowsתַּלְמֵיof the field.שָׂדָי
And Jacobוַ יַעֲקֹבfledיִּבְרַחto the fieldשְׂדֵהof Aram,אֲרָםand Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלservedוַיַּעֲבֹדfor a wife,בְּאִשָּׁהand for a wifeוּבְאִשָּׁהhe kept sheep.שָׁמָר
And by a prophetוּבְנָבִיאYHWHיְהוָהbroughtהֶעֱלָהIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלup from Egypt,מִמִּצְרָיִםand by a prophetוּבְנָבִיאhe was kept.נִשְׁמָר
Ephraimאֶפְרַיִםhas provoked him to angerהִכְעִיסbitterly;תַּמְרוּרִיםand his bloodוְדָמָיוhe will leaveיִטּוֹשׁon him,עָלָיוand his reproachוְחֶרְפָּתוֹhis Lordאֲדֹנָיוwill pay backיָשִׁיבto him.לוֹ
