Allusion · Exodus 40:35

Go to Exodus 40:35

Both texts join “dwelling” and “glory”: the Word “pitched his tent” (eskēnōsen) and “we saw his glory”; over the tent of meeting the cloud “dwelt” (shakan) and the glory of YHWH filled it.

They share words that are rare in the original, without a quotation.

Translation note

“Pitched his tent” translates eskēnōsen, from skēnē, “tent,” the word the ancient Greek translation uses for the tent of meeting, which the glory of God filled (Exodus 40:34-35). It can be understood as an echo of that passage.
