Mosesמֹשֶׁהspokeוַיְדַבֵּרto the headsאֶל רָאשֵׁיof the tribesהַמַּטּוֹתof the sonsלִבְנֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלsaying,לֵאמֹר“This isזֶהthe thingהַדָּבָרthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהhas commanded:צִוָּה
Whenכִּיa manאִישׁvowsיִדֹּרa vowנֶדֶרto YHWHלַיהוָהorאוֹswearsהִשָּׁבַעan oathשְׁבֻעָהto bindלֶאְסֹרan obligationאִסָּרon his soul,עַל נַפְשׁוֹhe shall notלֹאprofaneיַחֵלhis word;דְּבָרוֹaccording to allכְּכָלthat comes outהַיֹּצֵאof his mouthמִפִּיוhe shall do.יַעֲשֶׂה
And whenוְ כִּיa womanאִשָּׁהvowsתִדֹּרa vowנֶדֶרto YHWHלַיהוָהand bindsוְאָסְרָהan obligation on herselfאִסָּרin the houseבְּבֵיתof her fatherאָבִיהָin her youth,בִּנְעֻרֶיהָ
and her fatherוְ אָבִיהָhearsשָׁמַעher vowנִדְרָהּand her obligationוֶאֱסָרָהּthatאֲשֶׁרshe has boundאָסְרָהon her soul,עַל נַפְשָׁהּand her fatherוְ אָבִיהָkeeps silentהֶחֱרִישׁtoward her,לָהּthen allוְ כָּלher vowsנְדָרֶיהָshall stand,קָמוּand everyוְכָלobligationאִסָּרthatאֲשֶׁרshe has boundאָסְרָהon her soulעַל נַפְשָׁהּshall stand.יָקוּם
But ifוְאִםher fatherאָבִיהָforbidsהֵנִיאherאֹתָהּon the dayבְּיוֹםhe hears of it,שָׁמְעוֹnoneכָּל לֹאof her vowsנְדָרֶיהָor her obligationsוֶאֱסָרֶיהָthatאֲשֶׁרshe has boundאָסְרָהon her soulעַל נַפְשָׁהּshall stand;יָקוּםand YHWHוַיהוָהwill forgiveיִסְלַחher,לָהּbecauseכִּיher fatherאָבִיהָforbadeהֵנִיאher.אֹתָהּ
And ifוְאִםshe does belongהָיוֹ תִהְיֶהto a husbandלְאִישׁwhile her vowsוּנְדָרֶיהָare on her,עָלֶיהָorאוֹthe rash utteranceמִבְטָאof her lipsשְׂפָתֶיהָthatאֲשֶׁרshe has boundאָסְרָהon her soul,עַל נַפְשָׁהּ
and her husbandוְ אִישָׁהּhears of itשָׁמַעand on the dayבְּיוֹםhe hears itשָׁמְעוֹkeeps silentוְהֶחֱרִישׁtoward her,לָהּthen her vowsוְ נְדָרֶיהָshall stand,קָמוּand her obligationsוֶאֱסָרֶהָthatאֲשֶׁרshe has boundאָסְרָהon her soulעַל נַפְשָׁהּshall stand.יָקֻמוּ
But ifוְאִםon the dayבְּיוֹםher husbandאִישָׁהּhears of itשְׁמֹעַhe forbidsיָנִיאher,אוֹתָהּthen he annulsוְהֵפֵרher vowנִדְרָהּthatאֲשֶׁרis on herעָלֶיהָandוְthe rash utteranceמִבְטָאof her lipsשְׂפָתֶיהָthatאֲשֶׁרshe has boundאָסְרָהon her soul;עַל נַפְשָׁהּand YHWHוַיהוָהwill forgiveיִסְלַחher.לָהּ
But the vowוְנֵדֶרof a widowאַלְמָנָהor a divorced woman,וּגְרוּשָׁהeverythingכֹּלthatאֲשֶׁרshe has boundאָסְרָהon her soul,עַל נַפְשָׁהּshall standיָקוּםagainst her.עָלֶיהָ
And ifוְאִםin the houseבֵּיתof her husbandאִישָׁהּshe vowedנָדָרָהorאוֹboundאָסְרָהan obligationאִסָּרon her soulעַל נַפְשָׁהּwith an oath,בִּשְׁבֻעָה
and her husbandוְ אִישָׁהּheard of itשָׁמַעand kept silentוְהֶחֱרִשׁtoward herלָהּand did notלֹאforbidהֵנִיאher,אֹתָהּthen allוְ כָּלher vowsנְדָרֶיהָshall stand,קָמוּand everyוְכָלobligationאִסָּרthatאֲשֶׁרshe boundאָסְרָהon her soulעַל נַפְשָׁהּshall stand.יָקוּם
But ifוְאִםher husbandאִישָׁהּdoes annulהָפֵר יָפֵרthemאֹתָםon the dayבְּיוֹםhe hears of them,שָׁמְעוֹnothingכָּל לֹאthat came outמוֹצָאof her lipsשְׂפָתֶיהָconcerning her vowsלִנְדָרֶיהָor concerning the obligationוּלְאִסַּרof her soulנַפְשָׁהּshall stand;יָקוּםher husbandאִישָׁהּhas annulled them,הֲפֵרָםand YHWHוַיהוָהwill forgiveיִסְלַחher.לָהּ
Everyכָּלvowנֵדֶרand everyוְכָלoathשְׁבֻעַתof obligationאִסָּרto afflictלְעַנֹּתthe soul,נָפֶשׁher husbandאִישָׁהּmay confirm it,יְקִימֶנּוּand her husbandוְאִישָׁהּmay annul it.יְפֵרֶנּוּ
But ifוְאִםher husbandאִישָׁהּindeed keeps silentהַחֲרֵשׁ יַחֲרִישׁtoward herלָהּfrom dayמִיּוֹםto day,אֶל יוֹםthen he confirmsוְהֵקִיםallכָּלher vowsנְדָרֶיהָorאוֹallכָּלher obligationsאֱסָרֶיהָthatאֲשֶׁרare on her;עָלֶיהָhe has confirmedהֵקִיםthem,אֹתָםbecauseכִּיhe kept silentהֶחֱרִשׁtoward herלָהּon the dayבְּיוֹםhe heard of them.שָׁמְעוֹ
But ifוְאִםhe does annulהָפֵר יָפֵרthemאֹתָםafterאַחֲרֵיhe has heard of them,שָׁמְעוֹthenוְhe shall bearנָשָׂאher iniquity.”עֲוֺנָהּ
These areאֵלֶּהthe statutesהַחֻקִּיםthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהcommandedצִוָּהMoses,מֹשֶׁהbetween a manבֵּין אִישׁand his wife,לְאִשְׁתּוֹand between a fatherבֵּין אָבand his daughter,לְבִתּוֹin her youth,בִּנְעֻרֶיהָin the houseבֵּיתof her father.אָבִיהָ
