while the Egyptiansוּמִצְרַיִםwere buryingמְקַבְּרִיםthose whomאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהhad struckהִכָּהamong them,בָּהֶםeveryכָּלfirstborn;בְּכוֹרand on their godsוּבֵאלֹהֵיהֶםYHWHיְהוָהhad executedעָשָׂהjudgments.שְׁפָטִים

“Speakדַּבֵּרto the sonsאֶל בְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלand sayוְאָמַרְתָּto them:אֲלֵהֶםWhenכִּיyouאַתֶּםcrossעֹבְרִיםthe Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּןintoאֶלthe landאֶרֶץof Canaan,כְּנָעַן
you shall dispossessוְהוֹרַשְׁתֶּםallכָּלthe inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵיof the landהָאָרֶץfrom before you,מִפְּנֵיכֶםand do away withוְאִבַּדְתֶּםallכָּלtheir carved stones,מַשְׂכִּיֹּתָםand allוְ כָּלtheir moltenמַסֵּכֹתָםimagesצַלְמֵיyou shall do away with,תְּאַבֵּדוּand allוְ כָּלtheir high placesבָּמֹתָםyou shall destroy.תַּשְׁמִידוּ
You shall take possession ofוְהוֹרַשְׁתֶּםthe landהָאָרֶץand dwellוִישַׁבְתֶּםin it,בָּהּforכִּיto youלָכֶםI have givenנָתַתִּיthe landהָאָרֶץto possessלָרֶשֶׁתit.אֹתָהּ

But ifוְאִםyou do notלֹאdispossessתוֹרִישׁוּthe inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵיof the landהָאָרֶץfrom before you,מִפְּנֵיכֶםthenוְthose whomאֲשֶׁרyou let remainתּוֹתִירוּof themמֵהֶםshall beהָיָהas barbsלְשִׂכִּיםin your eyesבְּעֵינֵיכֶםand as thornsוְלִצְנִינִםin your sides,בְּצִדֵּיכֶםand they shall harassוְצָרֲרוּyouאֶתְכֶםinעַלthe landהָאָרֶץin whichאֲשֶׁר בָּהּyouאַתֶּםdwell.יֹשְׁבִים
And it shall beוְהָיָהthat asכַּאֲשֶׁרI thoughtדִּמִּיתִיto doלַעֲשׂוֹתto them,לָהֶםI will doאֶעֱשֶׂהto you.”לָכֶם
