“Take a censusנָשֹׂא אֶת רֹאשׁof the sonsבְּנֵיof Kohathקְהָתfrom amongמִתּוֹךְthe sonsבְּנֵיof Levi,לֵוִיby their families,לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָםby their fathers’ houses,לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם
from thirtyמִבֶּן שְׁלֹשִׁיםyearsשָׁנָהold and upwardוָמַעְלָהtoוְעַדfiftyבֶּן חֲמִשִּׁיםyears old,שָׁנָהeveryoneכָּלwho entersבָּאthe ranksלַצָּבָאto doלַעֲשׂוֹתworkמְלָאכָהin the tentבְּאֹהֶלof meeting.מוֹעֵד
This isזֹאתthe serviceעֲבֹדַתof the sonsבְּנֵיof Kohathקְהָתin the tentבְּאֹהֶלof meeting:מוֹעֵדthe most holy things.קֹדֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁים
When the campהַמַּחֲנֶהsets out,בִּנְסֹעַAaronאַהֲרֹןand his sonsוּבָנָיוshall go inוּבָאand take downוְהוֹרִדוּthe veilאֵת פָּרֹכֶתthat screens,הַמָּסָךְand coverוְכִסּוּwith itבָהּthe arkאֵת אֲרֹןof the testimony.הָעֵדֻת
And they shall putוְנָתְנוּon itעָלָיוa coveringכְּסוּיof fineתַּחַשׁleather,עוֹרand spreadוּפָרְשׂוּover itמִלְמָעְלָהa clothבֶגֶדentirelyכְּלִילof blue,תְּכֵלֶתand put inוְשָׂמוּits poles.בַּדָּיו
And overוְעַלthe tableשֻׁלְחַןof the Presenceהַפָּנִיםthey shall spreadיִפְרְשׂוּa clothבֶּגֶדof blue,תְּכֵלֶתand putוְנָתְנוּon itעָלָיוthe plates,אֶת הַקְּעָרֹתand the spoons,וְאֶת הַכַּפֹּתand the bowls,וְאֶת הַמְּנַקִּיֹּתand the jarsוְאֵת קְשׂוֹתfor the libation;הַנָּסֶךְand the continualהַתָּמִידbreadוְלֶחֶםshall beיִהְיֶהon it.עָלָיו
And they shall spreadוּפָרְשׂוּover themעֲלֵיהֶםa clothבֶּגֶדof scarlet,תּוֹלַעַת שָׁנִיand coverוְכִסּוּitאֹתוֹwith a coveringבְּמִכְסֵהof fineתָּחַשׁleather,עוֹרand put inוְשָׂמוּ אֶתits poles.בַּדָּיו
And they shall takeוְלָקְחוּa clothבֶּגֶדof blueתְּכֵלֶתand coverוְכִסּוּthe lampstandאֶת מְנֹרַתfor the light,הַמָּאוֹרand its lamps,וְאֶת נֵרֹתֶיהָand its snuffers,וְאֶת מַלְקָחֶיהָand its trays,וְאֶת מַחְתֹּתֶיהָand allוְאֵת כָּלits vesselsכְּלֵיfor oilשַׁמְנָהּwith whichאֲשֶׁר בָּהֶםthey ministerיְשָׁרְתוּto it.לָהּ
And they shall putוְנָתְנוּitאֹתָהּand allוְאֶת כָּלits utensilsכֵּלֶיהָintoאֶלa coveringמִכְסֵהof fineתָּחַשׁleather,עוֹרand put itוְנָתְנוּonעַלthe carrying frame.הַמּוֹט
And overוְעַלthe altarמִזְבַּחof goldהַזָּהָבthey shall spreadיִפְרְשׂוּa clothבֶּגֶדof blue,תְּכֵלֶתand coverוְכִסּוּitאֹתוֹwith a coveringבְּמִכְסֵהof fineתָּחַשׁleather,עוֹרand put inוְשָׂמוּ אֶתits poles.בַּדָּיו
And they shall takeוְלָקְחוּallאֶת כָּלthe utensilsכְּלֵיof ministryהַשָּׁרֵתwith whichאֲשֶׁר בָםthey ministerיְשָׁרְתוּin the Holy Place,בַּקֹּדֶשׁand put themוְנָתְנוּintoאֶלa clothבֶּגֶדof blue,תְּכֵלֶתand coverוְכִסּוּthemאוֹתָםwith a coveringבְּמִכְסֵהof fineתָּחַשׁleather,עוֹרand put themוְנָתְנוּonעַלthe carrying frame.הַמּוֹט
And they shall remove the ashes fromוְדִשְּׁנוּthe altarאֶת הַמִּזְבֵּחַand spreadוּפָרְשׂוּover itעָלָיוa clothבֶּגֶדof purple.אַרְגָּמָן
And they shall putוְנָתְנוּon itעָלָיוallאֶת כָּלits utensilsכֵּלָיוwith whichאֲשֶׁר בָּהֶםthey ministerיְשָׁרְתוּon it:עָלָיוthe firepans,אֶת הַמַּחְתֹּתthe forks,אֶת הַמִּזְלָגֹתand the shovels,וְאֶת הַיָּעִיםand the basins,וְאֶת הַמִּזְרָקֹתallכֹּלthe utensilsכְּלֵיof the altar;הַמִּזְבֵּחַand they shall spreadוּפָרְשׂוּover itעָלָיוa coveringכְּסוּיof fineתַּחַשׁleather,עוֹרand put inוְשָׂמוּits poles.בַדָּיו
And whenוְAaronאַהֲרֹןand his sonsוּבָנָיוhave finishedכִלָּהcoveringלְכַסֹּתthe Holy Placeאֶת הַקֹּדֶשׁand allוְאֶת כָּלthe utensilsכְּלֵיof the Holy Place,הַקֹּדֶשׁas the campבִּ הַמַּחֲנֶהsets out,נְסֹעַafter thatוְאַחֲרֵי כֵןthe sonsבְנֵיof Kohathקְהָתshall comeיָבֹאוּto carry them;לָשֵׂאתbut they shall notוְלֹאtouchיִגְּעוּthe holy things,אֶל הַקֹּדֶשׁor they will die.וָמֵתוּThese areאֵלֶּהthe loadמַשָּׂאof the sonsבְנֵיof Kohathקְהָתin the tentבְּאֹהֶלof meeting.מוֹעֵד
And the oversightוּפְקֻדַּתof Eleazarאֶלְעָזָרsonבֶּןof Aaronאַהֲרֹןthe priestהַכֹּהֵןis the oilשֶׁמֶןfor the light,הַמָּאוֹרand the fragrantהַסַּמִּיםincense,וּקְטֹרֶתand the continualהַתָּמִידgrain offering,וּמִנְחַתand the anointingהַמִּשְׁחָהoil,וְשֶׁמֶןthe oversightפְּקֻדַּתof the wholeכָּלdwellingהַמִּשְׁכָּןand of allוְכָלthatאֲשֶׁרis in it,בּוֹin the Holy Placeבְּקֹדֶשׁand in its utensils.”וּבְכֵלָיו
And YHWHוַ יְהוָהspokeיְדַבֵּרto Mosesאֶל מֹשֶׁהand to Aaron,וְאֶל אַהֲרֹןsaying,לֵאמֹר
“Do notאַלcut offתַּכְרִיתוּthe tribeאֶת שֵׁבֶטof the familiesמִשְׁפְּחֹתof the Kohathitesהַקְּהָתִיfrom amongמִתּוֹךְthe Levites.הַלְוִיִּם
But doעֲשׂוּthisוְזֹאתfor them,לָהֶםso that they may liveוְחָיוּand notוְלֹאdieיָמֻתוּwhen they approachבְּגִשְׁתָּםthe most holy things:אֶת קֹדֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁיםAaronאַהֲרֹןand his sonsוּבָנָיוshall go inיָבֹאוּand assignוְשָׂמוּthem,אוֹתָםeach manאִישׁ אִישׁto his serviceעַל עֲבֹדָתוֹand to his load.וְאֶל מַשָּׂאוֹ
But they shall notוְלֹאgo inיָבֹאוּto seeלִרְאוֹתthe holy thingsאֶת הַקֹּדֶשׁeven for an instant,כְּבַלַּעor they will die.”וָמֵתוּ
And YHWHוַ יְהוָהspokeיְדַבֵּרto Moses,אֶל מֹשֶׁהsaying,לֵּאמֹר

from thirtyמִבֶּן שְׁלֹשִׁיםyearsשָׁנָהold and upwardוָמַעְלָהtoעַדfiftyבֶּן חֲמִשִּׁיםyears oldשָׁנָהyou shall countתִּפְקֹדthem,אוֹתָםeveryoneכָּלwho entersהַבָּאto serveלִצְבֹאin the ranks,צָבָאto doלַעֲבֹדthe serviceעֲבֹדָהin the tentבְּאֹהֶלof meeting.מוֹעֵד
This isזֹאתthe serviceעֲבֹדַתof the familiesמִשְׁפְּחֹתof the Gershonites,הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּיin servingלַעֲבֹדand in carrying loads:וּלְמַשָּׂא
they shall carryוְנָשְׂאוּthe curtainsאֶת יְרִיעֹתof the dwelling,הַמִּשְׁכָּןand the tentוְאֶת אֹהֶלof meeting,מוֹעֵדits covering,מִכְסֵהוּand the coveringוּמִכְסֵהof fine leatherהַתַּחַשׁthatאֲשֶׁרis on topמִלְמָעְלָהof it,עָלָיוand the screenוְאֶת מָסַךְfor the entranceפֶּתַחof the tentאֹהֶלof meeting,מוֹעֵד
and the hangingsוְאֵת קַלְעֵיof the court,הֶחָצֵרand the screenוְאֶת מָסַךְfor the entranceפֶּתַחof the gateשַׁעַרof the courtהֶחָצֵרwhichאֲשֶׁרis aroundעַל סָבִיבthe dwellingהַמִּשְׁכָּןand the altar,וְעַל הַמִּזְבֵּחַand their cords,וְאֵת מֵיתְרֵיהֶםand allוְאֶת כָּלthe utensilsכְּלֵיfor their service;עֲבֹדָתָםand allוְאֵת כָּלthatאֲשֶׁרis to be doneיֵעָשֶׂהwith them,לָהֶםthey shall do.וְעָבָדוּ
According to the commandעַל פִּיof Aaronאַהֲרֹןand his sonsוּבָנָיוshall beתִּהְיֶהallכָּלthe serviceעֲבֹדַתof the sonsבְּנֵיof the Gershonites,הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּיin allלְכָלtheir loadמַשָּׂאָםand in allוּלְכֹלtheir service;עֲבֹדָתָםand you shall assignוּפְקַדְתֶּםto themעֲלֵהֶםas a chargeבְּמִשְׁמֶרֶתallאֵת כָּלtheir load.מַשָּׂאָם
This isזֹאתthe serviceעֲבֹדַתof the familiesמִשְׁפְּחֹתof the sonsבְּנֵיof the Gershonitesהַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּיin the tentבְּאֹהֶלof meeting,מוֹעֵדand their chargeוּמִשְׁמַרְתָּםshall be under the directionבְּיַדof Ithamarאִיתָמָרsonבֶּןof Aaronאַהֲרֹןthe priest.הַכֹּהֵן
The sonsבְּנֵיof Merari,מְרָרִיby their families,לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָםby their fathers’ houses,לְבֵית אֲבֹתָםyou shall countתִּפְקֹדthem;אֹתָם
from thirtyמִבֶּן שְׁלֹשִׁיםyearsשָׁנָהold and upwardוָמַעְלָהtoוְעַדfiftyבֶּן חֲמִשִּׁיםyears oldשָׁנָהyou shall countתִּפְקְדֵthem,םeveryoneכָּלwho entersהַבָּאthe ranksלַצָּבָאto doלַעֲבֹדthe serviceאֶת עֲבֹדַתof the tentאֹהֶלof meeting.מוֹעֵד
And this isוְזֹאתthe chargeמִשְׁמֶרֶתof their load,מַשָּׂאָםfor allלְכָלtheir serviceעֲבֹדָתָםin the tentבְּאֹהֶלof meeting:מוֹעֵדthe framesקַרְשֵׁיof the dwelling,הַמִּשְׁכָּןand its bars,וּבְרִיחָיוand its pillars,וְעַמּוּדָיוand its bases,וַאֲדָנָיו
and the pillarsוְעַמּוּדֵיof the courtהֶחָצֵרall around,סָבִיבand their bases,וְאַדְנֵיהֶםand their pegs,וִיתֵדֹתָםand their cords,וּמֵיתְרֵיהֶםwith allלְכָלtheir utensilsכְּלֵיהֶםand with allוּלְכֹלtheir service;עֲבֹדָתָםand by namesוּבְשֵׁמֹתyou shall assignתִּפְקְדוּthe utensilsאֶת כְּלֵיof the chargeמִשְׁמֶרֶתof their load.מַשָּׂאָם
This isזֹאתthe serviceעֲבֹדַתof the familiesמִשְׁפְּחֹתof the sonsבְּנֵיof Merari,מְרָרִיfor allלְכָלtheir serviceעֲבֹדָתָםin the tentבְּאֹהֶלof meeting,מוֹעֵדunder the directionבְּיַדof Ithamarאִיתָמָרsonבֶּןof Aaronאַהֲרֹןthe priest.”הַכֹּהֵן
So Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהand Aaronוְאַהֲרֹןand the chiefsוּנְשִׂיאֵיof the communityהָעֵדָהcountedיִּפְקֹדthe sonsאֶת בְּנֵיof the Kohathitesהַקְּהָתִיby their familiesלְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָםand by their fathers’ houses,וּלְבֵית אֲבֹתָם
from thirtyמִבֶּן שְׁלֹשִׁיםyearsשָׁנָהold and upwardוָמַעְלָהtoוְעַדfiftyבֶּן חֲמִשִּׁיםyears old,שָׁנָהeveryoneכָּלwho enteredהַבָּאthe ranksלַצָּבָאfor the serviceלַעֲבֹדָהin the tentבְּאֹהֶלof meeting;מוֹעֵד
and those of them countedפְקֻדֵיהֶםby their familiesלְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָםwereוַיִּהְיוּtwo thousand seven hundred fifty.אַלְפַּיִם שְׁבַע מֵאוֹת וַחֲמִשִּׁים
