And these areוְאֵלֶּהthe namesשְׁמוֹתof the sonsבְּנֵיof Aaron:אַהֲרֹןthe firstbornהַבְּכוֹרNadab,נָדָבand Abihu,וַאֲבִיהוּאEleazar,אֶלְעָזָרand Ithamar.וְאִיתָמָר
These areאֵלֶּהthe namesשְׁמוֹתof the sonsבְּנֵיof Aaron,אַהֲרֹןthe anointedהַמְּשֻׁחִיםpriests,הַכֹּהֲנִיםwhomאֲשֶׁרhe ordainedמִלֵּא יָדָםto serve as priests.לְכַהֵן
But Nadabנָדָבand AbihuוַאֲבִיהוּאdiedוַיָּמָתbeforeלִפְנֵיYHWHיְהוָהwhen they offeredבְּהַקְרִבָםstrangeזָרָהfireאֵשׁbeforeלִפְנֵיYHWHיְהוָהin the wildernessבְּמִדְבַּרof Sinai,סִינַיand they had noוּ לֹא הָיוּ לָהֶםsons;בָנִיםso Eleazarוַ אֶלְעָזָרand Ithamarוְאִיתָמָרserved as priestsיְכַהֵןin the presenceעַל פְּנֵיof Aaronאַהֲרֹןtheir father.אֲבִיהֶם
And YHWHוַ יְהוָהspokeיְדַבֵּרto Moses,אֶל מֹשֶׁהsaying,לֵּאמֹר
“Bring nearהַקְרֵבthe tribeאֶת מַטֵּהof Leviלֵוִיand setוְהַעֲמַדְתָּitאֹתוֹbeforeלִפְנֵיAaronאַהֲרֹןthe priest,הַכֹּהֵןand they shall ministerוְשֵׁרְתוּto him.אֹתוֹ
They shall keepוְשָׁמְרוּhis chargeאֶת מִשְׁמַרְתּוֹand the chargeוְאֶת מִשְׁמֶרֶתof the wholeכָּלcommunityהָעֵדָהbeforeלִפְנֵיthe tentאֹהֶלof meeting,מוֹעֵדdoingלַעֲבֹדthe serviceאֶת עֲבֹדַתof the dwelling.הַמִּשְׁכָּן
They shall keepוְשָׁמְרוּallאֶת כָּלthe utensilsכְּלֵיof the tentאֹהֶלof meeting,מוֹעֵדand the chargeוְאֶת מִשְׁמֶרֶתof the sonsבְּנֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלdoingלַעֲבֹדthe serviceאֶת עֲבֹדַתof the dwelling.הַמִּשְׁכָּן
And you shall giveוְנָתַתָּהthe Levitesאֶת הַלְוִיִּםto Aaronלְאַהֲרֹןand to his sons;וּלְבָנָיוtheyהֵמָּהare given,נְתוּנִםwholly givenנְתוּנִםto himלוֹfrom amongמֵאֵתthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
And Aaronוְאֶת אַהֲרֹןand his sonsוְאֶת בָּנָיוyou shall appoint,תִּפְקֹדand they shall keepוְשָׁמְרוּtheir priesthood;אֶת כְּהֻנָּתָםand the strangerוְהַזָּרwho comes nearהַקָּרֵבshall be put to death.”יוּמָת
And YHWHוַ יְהוָהspokeיְדַבֵּרto Moses,אֶל מֹשֶׁהsaying,לֵּאמֹר
“And I,וַאֲנִיlook,הִנֵּהI have takenלָקַחְתִּיthe Levitesאֶת הַלְוִיִּםfrom amongמִתּוֹךְthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלin place ofתַּחַתeveryכָּלfirstborn,בְּכוֹרthe first to openפֶּטֶרthe wombרֶחֶםamong the sonsמִבְּנֵיof Israel;יִשְׂרָאֵלand the Levitesהַלְוִיִּםshall beוְהָיוּmine.לִי
Forכִּיeveryכָּלfirstbornבְּכוֹרis mine;לִיon the dayבְּיוֹםI struckהַכֹּתִיeveryכָלfirstbornבְּכוֹרin the landבְּאֶרֶץof Egypt,מִצְרַיִםI consecratedהִקְדַּשְׁתִּיto myselfלִיeveryכָלfirstbornבְּכוֹרin Israel,בְּיִשְׂרָאֵלboth of human beingsמֵאָדָםand of animals;עַד בְּהֵמָהthey shall beיִהְיוּmine.לִיI amאֲנִיYHWH.”יְהוָה
And YHWHוַ יְהוָהspokeיְדַבֵּרto Mosesאֶל מֹשֶׁהin the wildernessבְּמִדְבַּרof Sinai,סִינַיsaying,לֵאמֹר
“Countפְּקֹדthe sonsאֶת בְּנֵיof Leviלֵוִיby their fathers’ houses,לְבֵית אֲבֹתָםby their families;לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָםeveryכָּלmaleזָכָרfrom a monthמִבֶּן חֹדֶשׁold and upwardוָמַעְלָהyou shall count.”תִּפְקְדֵם
So Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהcountedיִּפְקֹדthemאֹתָםaccording to the commandעַל פִּיof YHWH,יְהוָהasכַּאֲשֶׁרhe had been commanded.צֻוָּה
And theseוַ אֵלֶּהwereיִּהְיוּthe sonsבְנֵיof Leviלֵוִיby their names:בִּשְׁמֹתָםGershon,גֵּרְשׁוֹןand Kohath,וּקְהָתand Merari.וּמְרָרִי
And these areוְאֵלֶּהthe namesשְׁמוֹתof the sonsבְּנֵיof Gershonגֵרְשׁוֹןby their families:לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָםLibniלִבְנִיand Shimei.וְשִׁמְעִי
And the sonsוּבְנֵיof Kohathקְהָתby their families:לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָםAmram,עַמְרָםand Izhar,וְיִצְהָרHebron,חֶבְרוֹןand Uzziel.וְעֻזִּיאֵל
And the sonsוּבְנֵיof Merariמְרָרִיby their families:לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָםMahliמַחְלִיand Mushi.וּמוּשִׁיTheseאֵלֶּהareהֵםthe familiesמִשְׁפְּחֹתof the Levitesהַלֵּוִיby their fathers’ houses.לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם
From Gershonלְגֵרְשׁוֹןcame the familyמִשְׁפַּחַתof the Libnitesהַלִּבְנִיand the familyוּמִשְׁפַּחַתof the Shimeites;הַשִּׁמְעִיtheseאֵלֶּהareהֵםthe familiesמִשְׁפְּחֹתof the Gershonites.הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּי
Those of them counted,פְּקֻדֵיהֶםaccording to the numberבְּמִסְפַּרof everyכָּלmaleזָכָרfrom a monthמִבֶּן חֹדֶשׁold and upward,וָמָעְלָהthose of them countedפְּקֻדֵיהֶםwere seven thousand five hundred.שִׁבְעַת אֲלָפִים וַחֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת
The familiesמִשְׁפְּחֹתof the Gershonitesהַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּיshall campיַחֲנוּbehindאַחֲרֵיthe dwelling,הַמִּשְׁכָּןon the west side.יָמָּה
And the chiefוּנְשִׂיאof the fathers’ houseבֵית אָבof the Gershonitesלַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּיis Eliasaphאֶלְיָסָףsonבֶּןof Lael.לָאֵל
And the chargeוּמִשְׁמֶרֶתof the sonsבְּנֵיof Gershonגֵרְשׁוֹןin the tentבְּאֹהֶלof meetingמוֹעֵדis the dwellingהַמִּשְׁכָּןand the tent,וְהָאֹהֶלits covering,מִכְסֵהוּand the screenוּמָסַךְfor the entranceפֶּתַחof the tentאֹהֶלof meeting,מוֹעֵד
and the hangingsוְקַלְעֵיof the court,הֶחָצֵרand the screenוְאֶת מָסַךְfor the entranceפֶּתַחof the courtהֶחָצֵרwhichאֲשֶׁרis aroundעַל סָבִיבthe dwellingהַמִּשְׁכָּןand the altar,וְעַל הַמִּזְבֵּחַand its cords,וְאֵת מֵיתָרָיוfor allלְכֹלits service.עֲבֹדָתוֹ
And from Kohathוְלִקְהָתcame the familyמִשְׁפַּחַתof the Amramites,הַעַמְרָמִיand the familyוּמִשְׁפַּחַתof the Izharites,הַיִּצְהָרִיand the familyוּמִשְׁפַּחַתof the Hebronites,הַחֶבְרֹנִיand the familyוּמִשְׁפַּחַתof the Uzzielites;הָעָזִּיאֵלִיtheseאֵלֶּהareהֵםthe familiesמִשְׁפְּחֹתof the Kohathites.הַקְּהָתִי
According to the numberבְּמִסְפַּרof everyכָּלmaleזָכָרfrom a monthמִבֶּן חֹדֶשׁold and upward,וָמָעְלָהthere were eight thousand six hundred,שְׁמֹנַת אֲלָפִים וְשֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹתkeepingשֹׁמְרֵיthe chargeמִשְׁמֶרֶתof the Holy Place.הַקֹּדֶשׁ
The familiesמִשְׁפְּחֹתof the sonsבְּנֵיof Kohathקְהָתshall campיַחֲנוּon the sideעַל יֶרֶךְof the dwelling,הַמִּשְׁכָּןon the south.תֵּימָנָה
And the chiefוּנְשִׂיאof the fathers’ houseבֵית אָבof the familiesלְמִשְׁפְּחֹתof the Kohathitesהַקְּהָתִיis Elizaphanאֶלִיצָפָןsonבֶּןof Uzziel.עֻזִּיאֵל
And their chargeוּמִשְׁמַרְתָּםis the ark,הָאָרֹןand the table,וְהַשֻּׁלְחָןand the lampstand,וְהַמְּנֹרָהand the altars,וְהַמִּזְבְּחֹתand the utensilsוּכְלֵיof the Holy Placeהַקֹּדֶשׁwith whichאֲשֶׁר בָּהֶםthey minister,יְשָׁרְתוּand the screen,וְהַמָּסָךְand allוְכֹלits service.עֲבֹדָתוֹ
And the chiefוּנְשִׂיאof the chiefsנְשִׂיאֵיof the Levitesהַלֵּוִיis Eleazarאֶלְעָזָרsonבֶּןof Aaronאַהֲרֹןthe priest,הַכֹּהֵןwith oversightפְּקֻדַּתof those who keepשֹׁמְרֵיthe chargeמִשְׁמֶרֶתof the Holy Place.הַקֹּדֶשׁ
From Merariלִמְרָרִיcame the familyמִשְׁפַּחַתof the Mahlitesהַמַּחְלִיand the familyוּמִשְׁפַּחַתof the Mushites;הַמּוּשִׁיtheseאֵלֶּהareהֵםthe familiesמִשְׁפְּחֹתof Merari.מְרָרִי
And those of them counted,וּפְקֻדֵיהֶםaccording to the numberבְּמִסְפַּרof everyכָּלmaleזָכָרfrom a monthמִבֶּן חֹדֶשׁold and upward,וָמָעְלָהwere six thousand two hundred.שֵׁשֶׁת אֲלָפִים וּמָאתָיִם
And the chiefוּנְשִׂיאof the fathers’ houseבֵית אָבof the familiesלְמִשְׁפְּחֹתof Merariמְרָרִיis Zurielצוּרִיאֵלsonבֶּןof Abihail.אֲבִיחָיִלThey shall campיַחֲנוּon the sideעַל יֶרֶךְof the dwelling,הַמִּשְׁכָּןon the north.צָפֹנָה
And the appointedוּפְקֻדַּתchargeמִשְׁמֶרֶתof the sonsבְּנֵיof Merariמְרָרִיis the framesקַרְשֵׁיof the dwelling,הַמִּשְׁכָּןand its bars,וּבְרִיחָיוand its pillars,וְעַמֻּדָיוand its bases,וַאֲדָנָיוand allוְכָלits utensils,כֵּלָיוand allוְכֹלits service,עֲבֹדָתוֹ
and the pillarsוְעַמֻּדֵיof the courtהֶחָצֵרall around,סָבִיבand their bases,וְאַדְנֵיהֶםand their pegs,וִיתֵדֹתָםand their cords.וּמֵיתְרֵיהֶם
And those who campוְהַחֹנִיםin front ofלִפְנֵיthe dwellingהַמִּשְׁכָּןon the east,קֵדְמָהin front ofלִפְנֵיthe tentאֹהֶלof meeting,מוֹעֵדtoward the sunrise,מִזְרָחָהare Mosesמֹשֶׁהand Aaronוְאַהֲרֹןand his sons,וּבָנָיוkeepingשֹׁמְרִיםthe chargeמִשְׁמֶרֶתof the sanctuary,הַמִּקְדָּשׁas the chargeלְמִשְׁמֶרֶתof the sonsבְּנֵיof Israel;יִשְׂרָאֵלand the strangerוְהַזָּרwho comes nearהַקָּרֵבshall be put to death.יוּמָת
Allכָּלthose countedפְּקוּדֵיof the Levites,הַלְוִיִּםwhomאֲשֶׁרMosesמֹשֶׁהand Aaronוְׄאַׄהֲׄרֹׄןׄcountedפָּקַדaccording to the commandעַל פִּיof YHWH,יְהוָהby their families,לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָםeveryכָּלmaleזָכָרfrom a monthמִבֶּן חֹדֶשׁold and upward,וָמַעְלָהwere twenty-two thousand.שְׁנַיִם וְעֶשְׂרִים אָלֶף
And YHWHוַ יְהוָהsaidיֹּאמֶרto Moses,אֶל מֹשֶׁה“Countפְּקֹדeveryכָּלfirstbornבְּכֹרmaleזָכָרof the sonsלִבְנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלfrom a monthמִבֶּן חֹדֶשׁold and upward,וָמָעְלָהand takeוְשָׂאthe numberאֵת מִסְפַּרof their names.שְׁמֹתָם
And you shall takeוְלָקַחְתָּthe Levitesאֶת הַלְוִיִּםfor meלִי—I amאֲנִיYHWH—יְהוָהin place ofתַּחַתeveryכָּלfirstbornבְּכֹרamong the sonsבִּבְנֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלand the livestockוְאֵת בֶּהֱמַתof the Levitesהַלְוִיִּםin place ofתַּחַתeveryכָּלfirstbornבְּכוֹרamong the livestockבְּבֶהֱמַתof the sonsבְּנֵיof Israel.”יִשְׂרָאֵל
So Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהcounted,יִּפְקֹדasכַּאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהhad commandedצִוָּהhim,אֹתוֹeveryאֶת כָּלfirstbornבְּכֹרamong the sonsבִּבְנֵיof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
And allוַ כָלthe firstbornבְּכוֹרmales,זָכָרaccording to the numberבְּמִסְפַּרof names,שֵׁמוֹתfrom a monthמִבֶּן חֹדֶשׁold and upward,וָמַעְלָהof those of them counted,לִפְקֻדֵיהֶםwereיְהִיtwenty-two thousand two hundred seventy-three.שְׁנַיִם וְעֶשְׂרִים אֶלֶף שְׁלֹשָׁה וְשִׁבְעִים וּמָאתָיִם
And YHWHוַ יְהוָהspokeיְדַבֵּרto Moses,אֶל מֹשֶׁהsaying,לֵּאמֹר
“Takeקַחthe Levitesאֶת הַלְוִיִּםin place ofתַּחַתeveryכָּלfirstbornבְּכוֹרamong the sonsבִּבְנֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלand the livestockוְאֶת בֶּהֱמַתof the Levitesהַלְוִיִּםin place ofתַּחַתtheir livestock;בְּהֶמְתָּםand the Levitesהַלְוִיִּםshall beוְהָיוּmine.לִיI amאֲנִיYHWH.יְהוָה
And as the ransomוְאֵת פְּדוּיֵיfor the two hundred seventy-threeהַשְּׁלֹשָׁה וְהַשִּׁבְעִים וְהַמָּאתָיִםof the firstbornמִבְּכוֹרof the sonsבְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלwho are in excessהָעֹדְפִיםof the Levites,עַל הַלְוִיִּם
you shall takeוְלָקַחְתָּfiveחֲמֵשֶׁתshekels apieceחֲמֵשֶׁת שְׁקָלִיםper head;לַגֻּלְגֹּלֶתyou shall take themתִּקָּחby the shekelבְּשֶׁקֶלof the sanctuary,הַקֹּדֶשׁthe shekelהַשָּׁקֶלbeing twentyעֶשְׂרִיםgerahs.גֵּרָה
And you shall giveוְנָתַתָּהthe silverהַכֶּסֶףto Aaronלְאַהֲרֹןand to his sonsוּלְבָנָיוas the ransomפְּדוּיֵיfor those in excessהָעֹדְפִיםamong them.”בָּהֶם
So Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהtookיִּקַּחthe ransomהַפִּדְיוֹםsilverאֵת כֶּסֶףfrom those in excessמֵאֵת הָעֹדְפִיםbeyond those ransomedעַל פְּדוּיֵיby the Levites.הַלְוִיִּם
From the firstbornמֵאֵת בְּכוֹרof the sonsבְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלhe tookלָקַחthe silver,אֶת הַכָּסֶףone thousand three hundred sixty-five shekelsחֲמִשָּׁה וְשִׁשִּׁים וּשְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת וָאֶלֶףby the shekelבְּשֶׁקֶלof the sanctuary.הַקֹּדֶשׁ
And Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהgaveיִּתֵּןthe ransomהַפְּדֻיִםsilverאֶת כֶּסֶףto Aaronלְאַהֲרֹןand to his sonsוּלְבָנָיוaccording to the commandעַל פִּיof YHWH,יְהוָהasכַּאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהhad commandedצִוָּהMoses.אֶת מֹשֶׁה
