A psalmמִזְמוֹרof Asaph.לְאָסָףSurelyאַךְgoodטוֹבto Israelלְיִשְׂרָאֵלis Elohim,אֱלֹהִיםto the pureלְבָרֵיin heart.לֵבָב
But as for me,וַאֲנִיalmostכִּמְעַטmy feetרַגְלָיturned aside;נָטָיוּnearlyכְּאַיִןmy stepsאֲשֻׁרָיslipped.שֻׁפְּכוּ
ForכִּיI was enviousקִנֵּאתִיof the boastful,בַּהוֹלְלִיםwhen I sawאֶרְאֶהthe well-beingשְׁלוֹםof the wicked.רְשָׁעִים
Forכִּיthere are noאֵיןbondsחַרְצֻבּוֹתto their death,לְמוֹתָםand fatוּבָרִיאis their body.אוּלָם
In the sufferingבַּעֲמַלof mortalsאֱנוֹשׁthey are not,אֵינֵמוֹand withוְעִםhuman beingsאָדָםthey are notלֹאstruck.יְנֻגָּעוּ
Thereforeלָכֵןprideגַאֲוָהis their necklace;עֲנָקַתְמוֹa garmentשִׁיתof violenceחָמָסcovers them.יַעֲטָף לָמוֹ
Their eyesעֵינֵמוֹbulge outיָצָאfrom fat;מֵחֵלֶבthe imaginationsמַשְׂכִּיּוֹתof the heartלֵבָבoverflow.עָבְרוּ
They mockיָמִיקוּand speakוִידַבְּרוּwith malice;בְרָעof extortionעֹשֶׁקfrom on highמִמָּרוֹםthey speak.יְדַבֵּרוּ
They have setשַׁתּוּin the heavensבַשָּׁמַיִםtheir mouth,פִּיהֶםand their tongueוּלְשׁוֹנָםwalksתִּהֲלַךְthrough the earth.בָּאָרֶץ
Thereforeלָכֵןhis peopleעַמּוֹturnיָשׁוּבhere,הֲלֹםand watersוּמֵיin abundanceמָלֵאare drainedיִמָּצוּby them.לָמוֹ
And they say,וְאָמְרוּ“Howאֵיכָהdoes Elאֵלknow?יָדַעAnd is thereוְיֵשׁknowledgeדֵּעָהin Elyon?”בְעֶלְיוֹן
Look,הִנֵּהthese areאֵלֶּהthe wicked,רְשָׁעִיםand,וְalwaysעוֹלָםat ease,שַׁלְוֵיthey have increasedהִשְׂגּוּtheir wealth.חָיִל
Surelyאַךְin vainרִיקI have cleansedזִכִּיתִיmy heartלְבָבִיand washedוָאֶרְחַץmy palmsכַּפָּיin innocence.בְּנִקָּיוֹן
And I have beenוָאֱהִיstruckנָגוּעַallכָּלthe day,הַיּוֹםand my reproof comesוְתוֹכַחְתִּיevery morning.לַבְּקָרִים
IfאִםI had said,אָמַרְתִּי“I will speakאֲסַפְּרָהthus,”כְמוֹlook,הִנֵּהthe generationדוֹרof your sonsבָּנֶיךָI would have betrayed.בָגָדְתִּי
And I ponderedוָאֲחַשְּׁבָהto knowלָדַעַתthis;זֹאתit wasהוּאsufferingעָמָלin my eyes,בְעֵינָי
untilעַדI enteredאָבוֹאinto the sanctuariesאֶל מִקְדְּשֵׁיof El;אֵלI understoodאָבִינָהtheir end.לְאַחֲרִיתָם
Surelyאַךְin slippery placesבַּחֲלָקוֹתyou set them;תָּשִׁית לָמוֹyou make them fallהִפַּלְתָּםinto ruins.לְמַשּׁוּאוֹת
Howאֵיךְthey have becomeהָיוּa desolationלְשַׁמָּהin a moment!כְרָגַעThey have come to an end,סָפוּthey have been consumedתַמּוּby horrors.מִן בַּלָּהוֹת
Like a dreamכַּחֲלוֹםon waking,מֵהָקִיץAdonai,אֲדֹנָיwhen you rouse yourselfבָּעִירyou will despiseתִּבְזֶהtheir image.צַלְמָם
Whenכִּיmy heartלְבָבִיgrew sourיִתְחַמֵּץand in my kidneysוְכִלְיוֹתַיI felt pangs,אֶשְׁתּוֹנָן
I wasוַאֲנִיdullבַעַרand did notוְלֹאknow;אֵדָעlike a beastבְּהֵמוֹתI wasהָיִיתִיwith you.עִמָּךְ
But I amוַאֲנִיalwaysתָמִידwith you;עִמָּךְyou have graspedאָחַזְתָּmy right hand.בְּיַד יְמִינִי
With your counselבַּעֲצָתְךָyou will guide me,תַנְחֵנִיand afterwardוְאַחַרwith gloryכָּבוֹדyou will take me.תִּקָּחֵנִי
Whomמִיhave Iלִיin the heavens?בַשָּׁמָיִםAndוְwith youעִמְּךָI desire nothingלֹא חָפַצְתִּיon earth.בָאָרֶץ
My bodyשְׁאֵרִיand my heartוּלְבָבִיare consumed;כָּלָהthe rockצוּרof my heartלְבָבִיand my portionוְחֶלְקִיis Elohimאֱלֹהִיםforever.לְעוֹלָם
Forכִּיlook,הִנֵּהthose far from youרְחֵקֶיךָwill perish;יֹאבֵדוּyou annihilateהִצְמַתָּהallכָּלwho prostitute themselvesזוֹנֶהaway from you.מִמֶּךָּ
But as for me,וַאֲנִיthe nearnessקִרֲבַתof Elohimאֱלֹהִיםto meלִיis good;טוֹבI have placedשַׁתִּיmy refugeמַחְסִיin AdonaiבַּאדֹנָיYHWH,יְהֹוִהto recountלְסַפֵּרallכָּלyour works.מַלְאֲכוֹתֶיךָ
