Purity

7-day plan: Purity

A clean heart, a body cared for, and a mind on what is good; God cleanses and renews.

One passage a day, with a question to think it over. Your progress stays on this device, no account needed.

  1. Day 1 · A clean heart

Whoever has innocent hands and a pure heart may go up to God's mountain

Who will go up to the mountain of YHWH? And who will stand in his holy place? He who has innocent hands and is clean of heart, who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood, and has not sworn with deceit. He will receive a blessing from YHWH, and righteousness from the Elohim of his salvation.

  2. Day 2 · Your body is a sanctuary

Your body is a sanctuary of the Spirit; you are not your own

Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the one who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you were bought at a price. So glorify God in your body.

  3. Day 3 · Fleeing sexual immorality

Joseph refuses his master's wife: it would be a sin against God

After these things, his lord’s wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, “Lie with me.” But he refused and said to his lord’s wife, “Look, with me here my lord does not concern himself with what is in the house, and all that he has he has put in my hand. He is not greater in this house than I, and he has not withheld from me anything except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do this great evil and sin against Elohim?” Though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he did not listen to her, to lie beside her, to be with her.

  4. Day 4 · Thinking on what is good

Paul lists what to think about: whatever is true, just, pure, lovely

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is righteous, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if any praise, think about these things.

  5. Day 5 · A clean heart

The one praying asks God, “A clean heart create for me”

Hide your face from my sins, and all my iniquities blot out. A clean heart create for me, Elohim, and a firm spirit renew within me. Do not cast me away from your presence, and your holy spirit do not take from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and let a generous spirit sustain me.

  6. Day 6 · Your body is a sanctuary

Paul to the community: you are God's sanctuary, and the Spirit lives in you

Do you not know that you are God’s sanctuary and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s sanctuary, God will destroy him; for God’s sanctuary is holy, and that is what you are.

  7. Day 7 · Fleeing sexual immorality

A father warns his son against the foreign woman: what is sweet now ends bitter

    My son, to my wisdom be attentive; to my insight incline your ear, to keep discretion, and that your lips may guard knowledge. For the lips of the strange woman drip honey from the comb, and smoother than oil is her palate; but her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a sword with two edges. Her feet go down to death; to Sheol her steps hold fast. The path of life she does not level; her tracks wander, and she does not know it. And now, sons, listen to me, and do not turn away from the sayings of my mouth. Keep your way far from her, and do not come near to the door of her house;
