7-day plan: The Resurrection
Jesus is alive: what happened, who saw him, and why it changes everything
One passage a day, with a question to think it over. Your progress stays on this device, no account needed.
Day 1 · The empty tomb
His sign: as Jonah was in the sea monster, he will be three days and three nights in the earth
But he answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. For just as Jonah was in the belly of the sea monster three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.

Jesus says the mouth speaks from the heart's abundance (v. 34). Which of your words today would you like to guard?
Day 2 · They saw him alive
Two travelers to Emmaus talk with Jesus without recognizing him
And look, two of them on that very day were going to a village sixty stadia away from Jerusalem, whose name was Emmaus; and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. And it happened, while they were talking and discussing, that Jesus himself drew near and was walking with them; but their eyes were held so as not to recognize him.

The disciples went from sadness to great joy (vv. 17, 52). What gives you hope on a hard day?
Day 3 · Why it matters
Paul sums up what he received: he died, was buried, and was raised, according to the Scriptures
For I handed on to you as of first importance what I also received: that the Messiah died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he has been raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

Day 4 · We will rise too
Job says his redeemer lives and that, after his skin is destroyed, he will see Eloah with his own eyes
And I know that my redeemer lives, and that at the last he will rise on the dust. And after this my skin has been destroyed, from my flesh I will see Eloah; whom I will see for myself, and my eyes will look on him, and not a stranger. My kidneys are consumed within my bosom.

Day 5 · The empty tomb
The women reach the tomb, and an angel tells them he is not here: he has risen
Now after the Sabbath, as it was dawning toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the grave. And look, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and was sitting on it. And his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards shook and became like dead men. But the angel answered the women, “Do not be afraid, you, for I know that you are seeking Jesus, who has been crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised, just as he said. Come, see the place where he was lying. And go quickly and tell his disciples that ‘He has been raised from the dead, and look, he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.’ Look, I have told you.” And going away quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, they ran to tell his disciples.

Jesus promises, “I am with you all the days” (v. 20). How does remembering that promise change your day?
Day 6 · They saw him alive
They recognize him as he breaks the bread, and remember how their hearts burned
And it happened, when he reclined at table with them, that taking the bread, he blessed it, and breaking it, he began giving it to them. And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; and he vanished from them. And they said to one another, “Was not our heart burning within us while he was speaking to us on the road, while he was opening to us the Scriptures?”

Day 7 · Why it matters
Paul: if the Messiah has not been raised, our faith is empty
and if the Messiah has not been raised, then our preaching is empty, and your faith is empty. And we are also found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that he raised the Messiah, whom he did not raise if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even the Messiah has been raised; and if the Messiah has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then also those who fell asleep in the Messiah perished. If we have hoped in the Messiah in this life only, we are more to be pitied than all people. But now the Messiah has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
