And the wordוַ דְּבַרof YHWHיְהוָהTsevaotצְבָאוֹתcame,יְהִיsaying,לֵאמֹר
“ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWHיְהוָהTsevaot:צְבָאוֹתI have been jealousקִנֵּאתִיfor Zionלְצִיּוֹןwith greatגְדוֹלָהjealousy,קִנְאָהand with greatוְ גְדוֹלָהfuryחֵמָהI have been jealousקִנֵּאתִיfor her.לָהּ
ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWH:יְהוָהI have returnedשַׁבְתִּיtoאֶלZion,צִיּוֹןand I will dwellוְשָׁכַנְתִּיin the midstבְּתוֹךְof Jerusalem;יְרוּשָׁלִָםand Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַםwill be calledוְנִקְרְאָהthe cityעִירof truth,הָאֱמֶתand the mountainוְהַרof YHWHיְהוָהTsevaot,צְבָאוֹתthe holyהַקֹּדֶשׁmountain.הַר
ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWHיְהוָהTsevaot:צְבָאוֹתOld menזְקֵנִיםand old womenוּזְקֵנוֹתwill againעֹדsitיֵשְׁבוּin the squaresבִּרְחֹבוֹתof Jerusalem,יְרוּשָׁלִָםeachוְאִישׁwith his staffמִשְׁעַנְתּוֹin his handבְּיָדוֹbecause of the great numberמֵרֹבof his days.יָמִים
And the squaresוּרְחֹבוֹתof the cityהָעִירwill be filledיִמָּלְאוּwith boysיְלָדִיםand girlsוִילָדוֹתplayingמְשַׂחֲקִיםin its squares.בִּרְחֹבֹתֶיהָ
ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWHיְהוָהTsevaot:צְבָאוֹתIfכִּיit is difficultיִפָּלֵאin the eyesבְּעֵינֵיof the remnantשְׁאֵרִיתof thisהַזֶּהpeopleהָעָםin thoseבַּ הָהֵםdays,יָּמִיםwill it alsoגַּםbe difficultיִפָּלֵאin my eyes?בְּעֵינַיdeclaresנְאֻםYHWHיְהוָהTsevaot.צְבָאוֹת
ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWHיְהוָהTsevaot:צְבָאוֹתLook,הִנְIנִיam savingמוֹשִׁיעַmy peopleעַמִּיfrom the landמֵאֶרֶץof the eastמִזְרָחand from the landוּמֵאֶרֶץof the settingמְבוֹאof the sun;הַשָּׁמֶשׁ
and I will bringוְהֵבֵאתִיthem,אֹתָםand they will dwellוְשָׁכְנוּin the midstבְּתוֹךְof Jerusalem;יְרוּשָׁלִָםand they will beוְהָיוּto meלִיa people,לְעָםand Iוַאֲנִיwill beאֶהְיֶהto themלָהֶםElohim,לֵאלֹהִיםin truthבֶּאֱמֶתand in righteousness.וּבִצְדָקָה
ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWHיְהוָהTsevaot:צְבָאוֹתLet your handsיְדֵיכֶםbe strong,תֶּחֱזַקְנָהyou who hearהַשֹּׁמְעִיםin theseבַּ הָאֵלֶּהdaysיָּמִיםtheseהָאֵלֶּהwordsהַדְּבָרִיםfrom the mouthמִפִּיof the prophets,הַנְּבִיאִיםwho spokeאֲשֶׁרon the dayבְּיוֹםthat the houseבֵּיתof YHWHיְהוָהTsevaotצְבָאוֹתwas founded,יֻסַּדthe temple,הַהֵיכָלto be built.לְהִבָּנוֹת
Forכִּיbeforeלִפְנֵיthoseהַ הָהֵםdaysיָּמִיםthe wagesשְׂכַרof human beingsהָאָדָםdid notלֹאexist,נִהְיָהand the wagesוּשְׂכַרof livestockהַבְּהֵמָהwere none;אֵינֶנָּהand for the one going outוְלַיּוֹצֵאand for the one coming inוְלַבָּאthere was noאֵיןpeaceשָׁלוֹםbecause ofמִןthe adversary;הַצָּרand I let looseוַאֲשַׁלַּחallכָּלhuman beings,הָאָדָםeachאִישׁagainst his neighbor.בְּרֵעֵהוּ
But nowוְעַתָּהIאֲנִיwill not beלֹאas in the formerכַ הָרִאשֹׁנִיםdaysיָּמִיםto the remnantלִשְׁאֵרִיתof thisהַזֶּהpeople,הָעָםdeclaresנְאֻםYHWHיְהוָהTsevaot.צְבָאוֹת
Forכִּיthere will be a seedזֶרַעof peace:הַשָּׁלוֹםthe vineהַגֶּפֶןwill giveתִּתֵּןits fruit,פִּרְיָהּand the earthוְהָאָרֶץwill giveתִּתֵּןits produce,יְבוּלָהּand the heavensוְהַשָּׁמַיִםwill giveיִתְּנוּtheir dew;טַלָּםand I will give as an inheritanceוְהִנְחַלְתִּיto the remnantשְׁאֵרִיתof thisהַזֶּהpeopleהָעָםallכָּלthese things.אֵלֶּה
And it will happenוְהָיָהthat asכַּאֲשֶׁרyou wereהֱיִיתֶםa curseקְלָלָהamong the nations,בַּגּוֹיִםhouseבֵּיתof Judahיְהוּדָהand houseוּבֵיתof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלsoכֵּןI will saveאוֹשִׁיעַyou,אֶתְכֶםand you will beוִהְיִיתֶםa blessing.בְּרָכָהDo notאַלfear;תִּירָאוּlet your handsיְדֵיכֶםbe strong.תֶּחֱזַקְנָה
ForכִּיthusכֹהsaysאָמַרYHWHיְהוָהTsevaot:צְבָאוֹתAsכַּאֲשֶׁרI purposedזָמַמְתִּיto do harmלְהָרַעto youלָכֶםwhen your fathersבְּ אֲבֹתֵיכֶםprovoked me to anger,הַקְצִיף אֹתִיsaysאָמַרYHWHיְהוָהTsevaot,צְבָאוֹתand I did notוְלֹאrelent,נִחָמְתִּי
soכֵּןagainשַׁבְתִּיI have purposedזָמַמְתִּיin theseבַּ הָאֵלֶּהdaysיָּמִיםto do goodלְהֵיטִיבto Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַםand toוְthe houseבֵּיתof Judah.יְהוּדָהDo notאַלfear.תִּירָאוּ
Theseאֵלֶּהare the thingsהַדְּבָרִיםthatאֲשֶׁרyou shall do:תַּעֲשׂוּSpeakדַּבְּרוּtruthאֱמֶתeachאִישׁwith his neighbor;אֶת רֵעֵהוּjudgeשִׁפְטוּwith truthאֱמֶתand judgmentוּמִשְׁפַּטof peaceשָׁלוֹםin your gates.בְּשַׁעֲרֵיכֶם
And do notוְ אַלplanתַּחְשְׁבוּin your heartבִּלְבַבְכֶםevilרָעַתagainst his neighbor,רֵעֵהוּeach of you;אִישׁand do notוּ אַלloveתֶּאֱהָבוּa falseשֶׁקֶרoath;שְׁבֻעַתforכִּיallכָּלtheseאֵלֶּהare things thatאֲשֶׁרI hate,שָׂנֵאתִיdeclaresנְאֻםYHWH.”יְהוָה
And the wordוַ דְּבַרof YHWHיְהוָהTsevaotצְבָאוֹתcameיְהִיto me,אֵלַיsaying,לֵאמֹר
“ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWHיְהוָהTsevaot:צְבָאוֹתThe fastצוֹםof the fourth month,הָרְבִיעִיand the fastוְצוֹםof the fifth,הַחֲמִישִׁיand the fastוְצוֹםof the seventh,הַשְּׁבִיעִיand the fastוְצוֹםof the tenthהָעֲשִׂירִיwill beיִהְיֶהfor the houseלְבֵיתof Judahיְהוּדָהjoyלְשָׂשׂוֹןand gladnessוּלְשִׂמְחָהand goodטוֹבִיםfestivals;וּלְמֹעֲדִיםso loveוְ אֱהָבוּtruthהָאֱמֶתand peace.וְהַשָּׁלוֹם
ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWHיְהוָהTsevaot:צְבָאוֹתPeoplesעַמִּיםwill yetעֹד אֲשֶׁרcome,יָבֹאוּand the inhabitantsוְיֹשְׁבֵיof manyרַבּוֹתcities;עָרִים
and the inhabitantsוְ יֹשְׁבֵיof oneאַחַתwill goהָלְכוּtoאֶלanother,אַחַתsaying,לֵאמֹר‘Let us go nowנֵלְכָה הָלוֹךְto imploreלְחַלּוֹתthe faceפְּנֵיof YHWH,יְהוָהand to seekוּלְבַקֵּשׁYHWHיְהוָהTsevaot;צְבָאוֹתIאָנִיalsoגַּםwill go.’אֵלְכָה
And manyרַבִּיםpeoplesעַמִּיםand mightyעֲצוּמִיםnationsוְגוֹיִםwill comeוּבָאוּto seekלְבַקֵּשׁYHWHיְהוָהTsevaotצְבָאוֹתin Jerusalemבִּירוּשָׁלִָםand to imploreוּלְחַלּוֹתthe faceפְּנֵיof YHWH.יְהוָה
ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWHיְהוָהTsevaot:צְבָאוֹתIn thoseבַּ הָהֵמָּהdays,יָּמִיםwhenאֲשֶׁרtenעֲשָׂרָהmenאֲנָשִׁיםfrom allמִכֹּלthe languagesלְשֹׁנוֹתof the nationsהַגּוֹיִםwill take hold,יַחֲזִיקוּthey will take holdוְהֶחֱזִיקוּof the edge of the robeבִּכְנַףof a Jewishיְהוּדִיman,אִישׁsaying,לֵאמֹר‘We will goנֵלְכָהwith you,עִמָּכֶםforכִּיwe have heardשָׁמַעְנוּthat Elohimאֱלֹהִיםis with you.’”עִמָּכֶם
