1 Thessalonians 3

Therefore,Διὸwhen we could no longerμηκέτιbear it,στέγοντεςwe thought it goodεὐδοκήσαμενto be left behindκαταλειφθῆναιinἐνAthensἈθήναιςalone,μόνοι

andκαὶwe sentἐπέμψαμενTimothy,Τιμόθεονour brotherτὸν ἀδελφὸν ἡμῶνandκαὶGod’sτοῦ θεοῦfellow workerσυνεργὸνinἐνthe good newsτῷ εὐαγγελίῳof the Messiah,τοῦ Χριστοῦtoεἰς τὸstrengthenστηρίξαιyouὑμᾶςandκαὶexhort youπαρακαλέσαιaboutὑπὲρyour faith,τῆς πίστεως ὑμῶν

so thatτὸno oneμηδέναwould be unsettledσαίνεσθαιbyἐνtheseταύταιςafflictions.ταῖς θλίψεσινForγὰρyou yourselvesαὐτοὶknowοἴδατεthatὅτιwe are appointedκείμεθαforεἰςthis.τοῦτο

Forγὰρindeed,καὶwhenὅτεwe wereἦμενwithπρὸςyou,ὑμᾶςwe toldπροελέγομενyouὑμῖνbeforehandπροελέγομενthatὅτιwe were goingμέλλομενto suffer affliction,θλίβεσθαιjust asκαθὼςit alsoκαὶhappened,ἐγένετοandκαὶyou know.οἴδατε

For this reasonδιὰ τοῦτοI also,κἀγὼwhen I could no longerμηκέτιbear it,στέγωνsentἔπεμψαtoεἰς τὸlearn ofγνῶναιyour faith,τὴν πίστιν ὑμῶνfor fear thatμή πωςthe tempterὁ πειράζωνhad temptedἐπείρασενyouὑμᾶςandκαὶour laborὁ κόπος ἡμῶνmight beγένηταιinεἰςvain.κενὸν

ButδὲnowἌρτιthat TimothyΤιμοθέουhas comeἐλθόντοςtoπρὸςusἡμᾶςfromἀφ’youὑμῶνandκαὶhas brought us the good newsεὐαγγελισαμένου ἡμῖνof yourὑμῶνfaithτὴν πίστινandκαὶlove,τὴν ἀγάπηνandκαὶthatὅτιyou alwaysπάντοτεhaveἔχετεa goodἀγαθὴνremembranceμνείανof us,ἡμῶνlongingἐπιποθοῦντεςto seeἰδεῖνusἡμᾶςjust asκαθάπερweἡμεῖςalso long to seeκαὶyou,ὑμᾶς

for this reason,διὰ τοῦτοbrothers,ἀδελφοίwe were comfortedπαρεκλήθημενaboutἐφ’youὑμῖνinἐπὶallπάσῃourἡμῶνdistressτῇ ἀνάγκῃandκαὶafflictionθλίψειthroughδιὰyourὑμῶνfaith;τῆς πίστεως

forὅτιnowνῦνwe live,ζῶμενifἐὰνyouὑμεῖςstand firmστήκετεinἐνthe Lord.κυρίῳ

Forγὰρwhatτίναthanksgivingεὐχαριστίανcan weδυνάμεθαreturnἀνταποδοῦναιto Godτῷ θεῷforπερὶyou,ὑμῶνforἐπὶallπάσῃthe joyτῇ χαρᾷwith whichᾗwe rejoiceχαίρομενbecause ofδι’youὑμᾶςbeforeἔμπροσθενour God,τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν

nightνυκτὸςandκαὶdayἡμέραςprayingδεόμενοιmost earnestlyὑπερεκπερισσοῦthatεἰς τὸwe may seeἰδεῖνyourὑμῶνfaceτὸ πρόσωπονandκαὶrestoreκαταρτίσαιwhat is lackingτὰ ὑστερήματαin yourτῆς ὑμῶνfaith?πίστεως

Nowδὲmay ourἡμῶνGodὁ θεὸςandκαὶFatherπατὴρhimselfΑὐτὸςandκαὶourἡμῶνLordὁ κύριοςJesusἸησοῦςdirectκατευθύναιour wayτὴν ὁδὸν ἡμῶνtoπρὸςyou.ὑμᾶς

Andδὲmay the Lordὁ κύριοςcause youὑμᾶςto increaseπλεονάσαιandκαὶaboundπερισσεύσαιin loveτῇ ἀγάπῃforεἰςone anotherἀλλήλουςandκαὶforεἰςall,πάνταςjust asκαθάπερweἡμεῖςalso doκαὶforεἰςyou,ὑμᾶς

so asεἰς τὸto strengthenστηρίξαιyour heartsὑμῶν τὰς καρδίαςblamelessἀμέμπτουςinἐνholinessἁγιωσύνῃbeforeἔμπροσθενourἡμῶνGodτοῦ θεοῦandκαὶFatherπατρὸςatἐνthe comingτῇ παρουσίᾳof our Lordτοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶνJesusἸησοῦwithμετὰallπάντωνhis saints.τῶν ἁγίων αὐτοῦ
