Today: western Turkey (western Anatolia)
A Roman province in what is now western Turkey, with Ephesus as its main city.
Paul taught two years in Ephesus, and everyone in the province heard the word of the Lord (Acts 19:10). The seven assemblies of Revelation were there (Rev 1:4).
The context
26And you see and hear that not only in Ephesus but in almost all Asia this Paul has persuaded and turned away a considerable crowd, saying that those made by hands are not gods.
27 · This verse (above)
28And when they heard this and became full of rage, they were crying out, saying, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
