John 21:1-14

1After these things Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias; and he revealed himself in this way. 2Simon Peter, and Thomas, who is called Didymus, and Nathanael, who was from Cana of Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. 3Simon Peter says to them, “I am going fishing.” They say to him, “We also are coming with you.” They went out and got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. 4When it was already early morning, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5So Jesus says to them, “Children, you do not have any fish, do you?” They answered him, “No.” 6And he said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and they were no longer able to haul it in because of the great number of fish. 7So that disciple whom Jesus loved says to Peter, “It is the Lord!” So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he tied his outer garment around himself, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea. 8But the other disciples came in the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits off, dragging the net full of fish. 9So when they got out on the land, they see a charcoal fire in place and fish lying on it and bread. 10Jesus says to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have caught now.” 11So Simon Peter went up and hauled the net to land, full of large fish, a hundred fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not torn. 12Jesus says to them, “Come, have breakfast.” But none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you?” knowing that it was the Lord. 13Jesus comes and takes the bread and gives it to them, and the fish likewise. 14This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after being raised from the dead.

Luke 5:1-11

1Now it happened, while the crowd was pressing in on him and listening to the word of God, that he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, 2and he saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing the nets. 3And getting into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, he asked him to put out a little from the land; and sitting down, he was teaching the crowds from the boat. 4And when he had stopped speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.” 5And Simon answered and said, “Master, through the whole night we worked hard and caught nothing; but at your word I will let down the nets.” 6And when they had done this, they enclosed a great number of fish, and their nets were tearing. 7And they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them; and they came and filled both the boats, so that they were sinking. 8But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Go away from me, for I am a sinful man, Lord.” 9For amazement had seized him and all those with him at the catch of fish that they had taken, 10and likewise also James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people.” 11And when they had brought the boats to land, they left everything and followed him.
