I became muteנֶאֱלַמְתִּיin silence;דוּמִיָּהI kept quietהֶחֱשֵׁיתִיeven from good,מִטּוֹבand my painוּכְאֵבִיwas stirred up.נֶעְכָּר
My heartלִבִּיgrew hotחַםwithin me;בְּקִרְבִּיin my murmuringבַּהֲגִיגִיa fireאֵשׁburned;תִבְעַרI spokeדִּבַּרְתִּיwith my tongue:בִּלְשׁוֹנִי
“Make me know,הוֹדִיעֵנִיYHWH,יְהוָהmy endקִצִּיand the measureוּמִדַּתof my days,יָמַיwhatמַהit is;הִיאlet me knowאֵדְעָהhowמֶהfleetingחָדֵלI am.אָנִי
Look,הִנֵּהas handbreadthsטְפָחוֹתyou have madeנָתַתָּהmy days,יָמַיand my lifetimeוְחֶלְדִּיis as nothingכְאַיִןbefore you;נֶגְדֶּךָonlyאַךְa vaporכָּל הֶבֶלis everyכָּלhuman beingאָדָםstanding firm.נִצָּבSelah.סֶלָה
Onlyאַךְas an imageבְּצֶלֶםdoes a manאִישׁwalk about;יִתְהַלֶּךְonlyאַךְfor vaporהֶבֶלare they agitated;יֶהֱמָיוּןhe heaps upיִצְבֹּרand does notוְלֹאknowיֵדַעwhoמִיwill gather it.אֹסְפָם
And now,וְעַתָּהwhatמַהhave I waited for,קִּוִּיתִיAdonai?אֲדֹנָיMy expectationתּוֹחַלְתִּיisהִיאin you.לְךָ
From allמִכָּלmy transgressionsפְּשָׁעַיdeliver me;הַצִּילֵנִיdo notאַלmake meתְּשִׂימֵנִיthe reproachחֶרְפַּתof the fool.נָבָל
I have become mute;נֶאֱלַמְתִּיI will notלֹאopenאֶפְתַּחmy mouth,פִּיforכִּיyouאַתָּהhave done it.עָשִׂיתָ
Removeהָסֵרfrom upon meמֵעָלַיyour plague;נִגְעֶךָby the blowמִתִּגְרַתof your handיָדְךָIאֲנִיam spent.כָלִיתִי
With rebukesבְּתוֹכָחוֹתfor iniquityעַל עָוֺןyou correctיִסַּרְתָּa man,אִישׁand you melt awayוַתֶּמֶסlike a mothכָּעָשׁwhat he treasures;חֲמוּדוֹonlyאַךְa vaporהֶבֶלis everyכָּלhuman being.אָדָםSelah.סֶלָה
Hearשִׁמְעָהmy prayer,תְפִלָּתִיYHWH,יְהוָהand to my cry for helpוְשַׁוְעָתִיgive ear;הַאֲזִינָהto my tearsאֶל דִּמְעָתִיdo notאַלbe deaf,תֶּחֱרַשׁforכִּיa resident alienגֵרI amאָנֹכִיwith you,עִמָּךְa temporary residentתּוֹשָׁבlike allכְּכָלmy fathers.אֲבוֹתָי
Look awayהָשַׁעfrom me,מִמֶּנִּיthat I may smileוְאַבְלִיגָהbeforeבְּטֶרֶםI goאֵלֵךְand am no more.וְאֵינֶנִּי
