Pergamum
Today: Bergama (Pergamon ruins), Turkey
A city in what is now western Turkey, about 15 miles (25 km) inland from the Aegean Sea.
It is one of the seven assemblies of Asia. Jesus praised it for holding to his name and called it to change its mind about what it tolerated (Rev 2:12-16).
The context
11Whoever has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. The one who conquers will never be harmed by the second death.
