Forγάρthisαὕτηisἐστινthe loveἡ ἀγάπηof God,τοῦ θεοῦthatἵναwe keepτηρῶμενhis commandments;τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦandκαὶhis commandmentsαἱ ἐντολαὶ αὐτοῦare notοὐκ εἰσίνburdensome,βαρεῖαι
becauseὅτιeverythingπᾶνthatτὸhas been bornγεγεννημένονofἐκGodτοῦ θεοῦovercomesνικᾷthe world;τὸν κόσμονandκαὶthisαὕτηisἐστὶνthe victoryἡ νίκηthatἡhas overcomeνικήσασαthe world:τὸν κόσμονour faith.ἡ πίστις ἡμῶν

ThisΟὗτόςisἐστινthe one whoὁcameἐλθὼνthroughδι’waterὕδατοςandκαὶblood,αἵματοςJesusἸησοῦςthe Messiah;Χριστόςnotοὐκwithἐνthe waterτῷ ὕδατιonly,μόνονbutἀλλ’withἐνthe waterτῷ ὕδατιandκαὶwithἐνthe blood.τῷ αἵματιAndκαὶthe Spiritτὸ πνεῦμάisἐστινthe one whoτὸtestifies,μαρτυροῦνbecauseὅτιthe Spiritτὸ πνεῦμάisἐστινthe truth.ἡ ἀλήθεια
Forὅτιthere areεἰσινthreeτρεῖςthatοἱtestify:μαρτυροῦντες
the Spiritτὸ πνεῦμαandκαὶthe waterτὸ ὕδωρandκαὶthe blood;τὸ αἷμαandκαὶthe threeοἱ τρεῖςareεἰσινin agreement.εἰς τὸ ἕν
Ifεἰwe receiveλαμβάνομενthe testimonyτὴν μαρτυρίανof people,τῶν ἀνθρώπωνthe testimonyἡ μαρτυρίαof Godτοῦ θεοῦisἐστίνgreater,μείζωνbecauseὅτιthisαὕτηisἐστὶνthe testimonyἡ μαρτυρίαof God,τοῦ θεοῦthatὅτιhe has testifiedμεμαρτύρηκενaboutπερὶhis Son.τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ
Whoeverὁbelievesπιστεύωνinεἰςthe Sonτὸν υἱὸνof Godτοῦ θεοῦhasἔχειthe testimonyτὴν μαρτυρίανinἐνhimself.αὑτῷWhoeverὁdoes notμὴbelieveπιστεύωνGodτῷ θεῷhas madeπεποίηκενhimαὐτόνa liar,ψεύστηνbecauseὅτιhe has notοὐbelievedπεπίστευκενinεἰςthe testimonyτὴν μαρτυρίανthatἣνGodὁ θεὸςhas testifiedμεμαρτύρηκενaboutπερὶhis Son.τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ
Andκαὶthisαὕτηisἐστὶνthe testimony,ἡ μαρτυρίαthatὅτιGodὁ θεὸςgaveἔδωκενusἡμῖνeternalαἰώνιονlife,ζωὴνandκαὶthisαὕτηlifeἡ ζωὴisἐστινinἐνhis Son.τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ
Whoeverὁhasἔχωνthe Sonτὸν υἱὸνhasἔχειlife;τὴν ζωήνwhoeverὁdoes notμὴhaveἔχωνthe Sonτὸν υἱὸνof Godτοῦ θεοῦdoes notοὐκhaveἔχειlife.τὴν ζωὴν

Andκαὶthisαὕτηisἐστὶνthe confidenceἡ παρρησίαthatἣνwe haveἔχομενtowardπρὸςhim:αὐτόνthatὅτιifἐάνwe askαἰτώμεθαanythingτιaccording toκατὰhis will,τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦhe hearsἀκούειus.ἡμῶν
Andκαὶifἐὰνwe knowοἴδαμενthatὅτιhe hearsἀκούειusἡμῶνin whateverὃ ἐὰνwe ask,αἰτώμεθαwe knowοἴδαμενthatὅτιwe haveἔχομενthe requestsτὰ αἰτήματαthatἃwe have askedᾐτήκαμενofἀπ’him.αὐτοῦ
Ifἐάνanyoneτιςseesἴδῃhis brotherτὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦcommittingἁμαρτάνονταa sinἁμαρτίανnotμὴleading toπρὸςdeath,θάνατονhe will ask,αἰτήσειandκαὶGodwill giveδώσειhimαὐτῷlife,ζωήνthat is,to those whoτοῖςsinἁμαρτάνουσινnotμὴleading toπρὸςdeath.θάνατονThere isἔστινsinἁμαρτίαleading toπρὸςdeath;θάνατονI do notοὐsayλέγωthatἵναhe should askἐρωτήσῃaboutπερὶthat.ἐκείνης
Allπᾶσαunrighteousnessἀδικίαisἐστίνsin,ἁμαρτίαandκαὶthere isἔστινsinἁμαρτίαnotοὐleading toπρὸςdeath.θάνατον
We knowΟἴδαμενthatὅτιeveryoneπᾶςwhoὁhas been bornγεγεννημένοςofἐκGodτοῦ θεοῦdoes notοὐχkeep on sinning,ἁμαρτάνειbutἀλλ’the one whoὁwas bornγεννηθεὶςofἐκGodτοῦ θεοῦkeepsτηρεῖhim,αὐτόνandκαὶthe evil oneὁ πονηρὸςdoes notοὐχtouchἅπτεταιhim.αὐτοῦ
We knowοἴδαμενthatὅτιwe areἐσμενofἐκGod,τοῦ θεοῦandκαὶthe wholeὅλοςworldὁ κόσμοςliesκεῖταιinἐνthe evil one.τῷ πονηρῷ
Andδὲwe knowοἴδαμενthatὅτιthe Sonὁ υἱὸςof Godτοῦ θεοῦhas comeἥκειandκαὶhas givenδέδωκενusἡμῖνunderstanding,διάνοιανso thatἵναwe may knowγινώσκωμενthe one who is true;τὸν ἀληθινόνandκαὶwe areἐσμὲνinἐνthe one who is true,τῷ ἀληθινῷinἐνhis Sonτῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦJesusἸησοῦthe Messiah.ΧριστῷThisοὗτόςisἐστινthe trueὁ ἀληθινὸςGodθεὸςandκαὶeternalαἰώνιοςlife.ζωὴ
