andκαὶhe made no distinctionοὐθὲν διέκρινενbetweenμεταξὺusἡμῶνandτε καὶthem,αὐτῶνpurifyingκαθαρίσαςtheirαὐτῶνheartsτὰς καρδίαςby faith.τῇ πίστει
Nowνῦνthen,οὖνwhyτίare you putting God to the testπειράζετε τὸν θεόνby placingἐπιθεῖναιa yokeζυγὸνonἐπὶthe neckτὸν τράχηλονof the disciplesτῶν μαθητῶνthatὃνneitherοὔτεour fathersοἱ πατέρες ἡμῶνnorοὔτεweἡμεῖςhave been ableἰσχύσαμενto bear?βαστάσαι
On the contrary,ἀλλὰwe believeπιστεύομενthatwe are savedσωθῆναιthroughδιὰthe graceτῆς χάριτοςof the Lordτοῦ κυρίουJesus,Ἰησοῦin the sameκαθ’ ὃνwayτρόπονas they also are.”κἀκεῖνοι

SimeonΣυμεὼνhas describedἐξηγήσατοhowκαθὼςGodὁ θεὸςfirstπρῶτονconcerned himselfἐπεσκέψατοto takeλαβεῖνfrom amongἐξthe nationsἐθνῶνa peopleλαὸνfor his name.τῷ ὀνόματι αὐτοῦ
Andκαὶwith thisτούτῳthe wordsοἱ λόγοιof the prophetsτῶν προφητῶνagree,συμφωνοῦσινasκαθὼςit is written,γέγραπται
‘AfterΜετὰthese thingsταῦταI will return,ἀναστρέψωandκαὶI will rebuildἀνοικοδομήσωthe tentτὴν σκηνὴνof DavidΔαυὶδthatτὴνhas fallen,πεπτωκυῖανandκαὶitsαὐτῆςruinsτὰ κατεσκαμμέναI will rebuild,ἀνοικοδομήσωandκαὶI will restoreἀνορθώσωit,αὐτήν
so thatὅπως ἂνthe restοἱ κατάλοιποιof humanityτῶν ἀνθρώπωνmay seekἐκζητήσωσινthe Lord,τὸν κύριονandκαὶallπάνταthe nationsτὰ ἔθνηon whomἐφ’ οὓςmy nameτὸ ὄνομά μουhas been called,ἐπικέκληταιsaysλέγειthe Lord,κύριοςwho doesποιῶνthese thingsταῦτα
knownγνωστὰfromἀπ’ages past.’αἰῶνος
ThereforeδιὸIἐγὼjudgeκρίνωthat we shouldnotμὴtroubleπαρενοχλεῖνthoseτοῖςfrom amongἀπὸthe nationsτῶν ἐθνῶνwho are turningἐπιστρέφουσινtoἐπὶGod,τὸν θεόν
butἀλλὰshouldwriteἐπιστεῖλαιto themαὐτοῖςto abstainτοῦ ἀπέχεσθαιfrom the pollutionsτῶν ἀλισγημάτωνof idolsτῶν εἰδώλωνandκαὶfrom sexual immoralityτῆς πορνείαςandκαὶfrom what is strangledτοῦ πνικτοῦandκαὶfrom blood.τοῦ αἵματος
ForγὰρMoses,Μωϋσῆςfromἐκancientἀρχαίωνgenerations,γενεῶνhasἔχειin everyκατὰcityπόλινthose who proclaimτοὺς κηρύσσονταςhim,αὐτὸνbeing readἀναγινωσκόμενοςinἐνthe synagoguesταῖς συναγωγαῖςeveryκατὰ πᾶνSabbath.”σάββατον

Forγὰρit seemed goodἔδοξενto the Holy Spiritτῷ πνεύματι τῷ ἁγίῳandκαὶto usἡμῖνto layἐπιτίθεσθαιon youὑμῖνnoμηδὲνgreaterπλέονburdenβάροςthanπλὴνtheseτούτωνnecessary things:τῶν ἐπάναγκες
that youabstainἀπέχεσθαιfrom things sacrificed to idolsεἰδωλοθύτωνandκαὶfrom bloodαἵματοςandκαὶfrom things strangledπνικτῶνandκαὶfrom sexual immorality.πορνείαςIfyou keep yourselvesδιατηροῦντες ἑαυτοὺςfromἐξthese,ὧνyou will doπράξετεwell.εὖFarewell.”ἔρρωσθε
Soοὖνthey,Οἱwhen they were sent off,ἀπολυθέντεςwent downκατῆλθονtoεἰςAntioch,Ἀντιόχειανandκαὶhaving gatheredσυναγαγόντεςthe multitude,τὸ πλῆθοςthey deliveredἐπέδωκανthe letter.τὴν ἐπιστολήν
Andδὲwhen they read it,ἀναγνόντεςthey rejoicedἐχάρησανatἐπὶthe comfort.τῇ παρακλήσει
JudasἸούδαςandτε καὶSilas,Σιλᾶςwho wereὄντεςalsoκαὶprophetsπροφῆταιthemselves,αὐτοὶencouragedπαρεκάλεσανthe brothersτοὺς ἀδελφοὺςwithδιὰmanyπολλοῦwordsλόγουandκαὶstrengthened them.ἐπεστήριξαν
Andδὲafter they had spentποιήσαντεςsome time,χρόνονthey were sent offἀπελύθησανinμετ’peaceεἰρήνηςbyἀπὸthe brothersτῶν ἀδελφῶνtoπρὸςthose who had sentτοὺς ἀποστείλανταςthem.αὐτούς
