And YHWHוַ יְהוָהsaidיֹּאמֶרtoאֶלAaron,אַהֲרֹן“Youאַתָּהand your sonsוּבָנֶיךָand your father’sוּ אָבִיךָhouseבֵיתwith youאִתָּךְshall bearתִּשְׂאוּthe iniquityאֶת עֲוֺןof the sanctuary;הַמִּקְדָּשׁandוְyouאַתָּהand your sonsוּבָנֶיךָwith youאִתָּךְshall bearתִּשְׂאוּthe iniquityאֶת עֲוֺןof your priesthood.כְּהֻנַּתְכֶם
Andוְalsoגַםyour brothers,אֶת אַחֶיךָthe tribeמַטֵּהof Levi,לֵוִיthe tribeשֵׁבֶטof your father,אָבִיךָbring nearהַקְרֵבwith you,אִתָּךְso that they may be joinedוְיִלָּווּto youעָלֶיךָand minister to you,וִישָׁרְתוּךָwhile youוְאַתָּהand your sonsוּבָנֶיךָwith youאִתָּךְare beforeלִפְנֵיthe tentאֹהֶלof the testimony.הָעֵדֻת
They shall keepוְשָׁמְרוּyour chargeמִשְׁמַרְתְּךָandוּthe chargeמִשְׁמֶרֶתof allכָּלthe tent;הָאֹהֶלonlyאַךְtoאֶלthe utensilsכְּלֵיof the holy placeהַקֹּדֶשׁandוְtoאֶלthe altarהַמִּזְבֵּחַthey shall notלֹאcome near,יִקְרָבוּso thatוְthey do notלֹאdie,יָמֻתוּneitherגַםtheyהֵםnorגַּםyou.אַתֶּם
They shall be joinedוְנִלְווּto youעָלֶיךָand keepוְשָׁמְרוּthe chargeאֶת מִשְׁמֶרֶתof the tentאֹהֶלof meetingמוֹעֵדfor allלְכֹלthe serviceעֲבֹדַתof the tent;הָאֹהֶלandוְa strangerזָרshall notלֹאcome nearיִקְרַבto you.אֲלֵיכֶם
And you shall keepוּשְׁמַרְתֶּםthe chargeאֵת מִשְׁמֶרֶתof the holy placeהַקֹּדֶשׁandוְthe chargeאֵת מִשְׁמֶרֶתof the altar,הַמִּזְבֵּחַso thatוְthere will noלֹאlongerעוֹדbeיִהְיֶהwrathקֶצֶףonעַלthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
And I,וַאֲנִיlook,הִנֵּהI have takenלָקַחְתִּיyour brothersאֶת אֲחֵיכֶםthe Levitesהַלְוִיִּםfromמִamongתּוֹךְthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israel;יִשְׂרָאֵלto youלָכֶםthey are a gift,מַתָּנָהgivenנְתֻנִיםto YHWH,לַיהוָהto doלַעֲבֹדthe serviceאֶת עֲבֹדַתof the tentאֹהֶלof meeting.מוֹעֵד
But youוְאַתָּהand your sonsוּבָנֶיךָwith youאִתְּךָshall keepתִּשְׁמְרוּyour priesthoodאֶת כְּהֻנַּתְכֶםin everyלְכָלmatterדְּבַרof the altarהַמִּזְבֵּחַandוּof what is insideלְמִבֵּיתthe veil,לַפָּרֹכֶתand you shall serve.וַעֲבַדְתֶּםAs a serviceעֲבֹדַתof giftמַתָּנָהI giveאֶתֵּןyour priesthood,אֶת כְּהֻנַּתְכֶםand the strangerוְהַזָּרwho comes nearהַקָּרֵבshall be put to death.”יוּמָת
And YHWHיְהוָהspokeוַיְדַבֵּרtoאֶלAaron,אַהֲרֹן“And I,וַאֲנִיlook,הִנֵּהI have givenנָתַתִּיyouלְךָthe chargeאֶת מִשְׁמֶרֶתof my contributions,תְּרוּמֹתָיof allלְכָלthe holy thingsקָדְשֵׁיof the sonsבְנֵיof Israel;יִשְׂרָאֵלI have given themנְתַתִּיםto youלְךָas a portionלְמָשְׁחָהandוּto your sonsלְבָנֶיךָas a perpetualעוֹלָםdue.לְחָק
Thisזֶהshall beיִהְיֶהyoursלְךָofמִthe most holy things,קֹּדֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁיםfromמִןthe fire:הָאֵשׁeveryכָּלoffering of theirs,קָרְבָּנָםeveryלְכָלgrain offering of theirsמִנְחָתָםandוּeveryלְכָלsin offering of theirsחַטָּאתָםandוּeveryלְכָלguilt offering of theirsאֲשָׁמָםthatאֲשֶׁרthey renderיָשִׁיבוּto me,לִיshall be mostקָדָשִׁיםholyקֹדֶשׁfor youלְךָandוּfor your sons.לְבָנֶיךָ
Inבְּa most holyהַקֳּדָשִׁיםplaceקֹדֶשׁyou shall eat it;תֹּאכֲלֶנּוּeveryכָּלmaleזָכָרshall eatיֹאכַלit;אֹתוֹit shall beיִהְיֶהholyקֹדֶשׁto you.לָּךְ
And thisוְזֶהis yours:לְּךָthe contributionתְּרוּמַתof their gift,מַתָּנָםof allלְכָלthe wave offeringsתְּנוּפֹתof the sonsבְּנֵיof Israel;יִשְׂרָאֵלI have given themנְתַתִּיםto youלְךָandוּto your sonsלְבָנֶיךָandוְto your daughtersלִבְנֹתֶיךָwith youאִתְּךָas a perpetualעוֹלָםdue.לְחָקEveryoneכָּלwho is cleanטָהוֹרin your houseבְּבֵיתְךָmay eatיֹאכַלit.אֹתוֹ
Allכֹּלthe bestחֵלֶבof the fresh oilיִצְהָרandוְallכָלthe bestחֵלֶבof the new wineתִּירוֹשׁand grain,וְדָגָןthe first of themרֵאשִׁיתָםthatאֲשֶׁרthey giveיִתְּנוּto YHWH,לַיהוָהI have given themנְתַתִּיםto you.לְךָ
The first ripe fruitsבִּכּוּרֵיof allכָּלthatאֲשֶׁרis in their land,בְּאַרְצָםwhichאֲשֶׁרthey bringיָבִיאוּto YHWH,לַיהוָהshall beיִהְיֶהyours;לְךָeveryoneכָּלwho is cleanטָהוֹרin your houseבְּבֵיתְךָmay eat it.יֹאכֲלֶנּוּ
Everythingכָּלwholly devotedחֵרֶםin Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלshall beיִהְיֶהyours.לְךָ
Everyכָּלfirstbornפֶּטֶרof the wombרֶחֶםof allלְכָלflesh,בָּשָׂרwhichאֲשֶׁרthey presentיַקְרִיבוּto YHWH,לַיהוָהwhether of human beingsבָּאָדָםorוּof livestock,בַבְּהֵמָהshall beיִהְיֶהyours;לָּךְbutאַךְyou shall surelyפָּדֹהredeemתִפְדֶּהthe firstbornאֵת בְּכוֹרof human beings,הָאָדָםandוְthe firstbornאֵת בְּכוֹרof uncleanהַטְּמֵאָהlivestockהַבְּהֵמָהyou shall redeem.תִּפְדֶּה
And their redemption price:וּפְדוּיָוfromמִa monthחֹדֶשׁoldבֶּןyou shall redeem them,תִּפְדֶּהat your valuation,בְּעֶרְכְּךָfor silver,כֶּסֶףfiveחֲמֵשֶׁתshekels,שְׁקָלִיםby the shekelבְּשֶׁקֶלof the sanctuary,הַקֹּדֶשׁwhichהוּאis twentyעֶשְׂרִיםgerahs.גֵּרָה
Butאַךְthe firstbornבְּכוֹרof a bullשׁוֹרorאוֹthe firstbornבְכוֹרof a sheepכֶּשֶׂבorאוֹthe firstbornבְכוֹרof a goatעֵזyou shall notלֹאredeem;תִפְדֶּהtheyהֵםare holy.קֹדֶשׁTheir bloodאֶת דָּמָםyou shall splashתִּזְרֹקonעַלthe altar,הַמִּזְבֵּחַandוְtheir fatאֶת חֶלְבָּםyou shall burnתַּקְטִירas a fire offering,אִשֶּׁהfor a pleasingלְ נִיחֹחַaromaרֵיחַto YHWH.לַיהוָה
But their fleshוּבְשָׂרָםshall beיִהְיֶהyours;לָּךְlike the breastכַּחֲזֵהof the wave offeringהַתְּנוּפָהandוּlike the rightכְ הַיָּמִיןthigh,שׁוֹקit shall beיִהְיֶהyours.לְךָ
Allכֹּלthe contributionsתְּרוּמֹתof the holy thingsהַקֳּדָשִׁיםthatאֲשֶׁרthe sonsבְנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלset apartיָרִימוּfor YHWHלַיהוָהI have givenנָתַתִּיto youלְךָandוּto your sonsלְבָנֶיךָandוְto your daughtersלִבְנֹתֶיךָwith youאִתְּךָas a perpetualעוֹלָםdue.לְחָקItהִואis a covenantבְּרִיתof saltמֶלַחforeverעוֹלָםbeforeלִפְנֵיYHWHיְהוָהfor youלְךָandוּfor your offspringלְזַרְעֲךָwith you.”אִתָּךְ
And YHWHוַ יְהוָהsaidיֹּאמֶרtoאֶלAaron,אַהֲרֹן“In their landבְּאַרְצָםyou shall notלֹאhave an inheritance,תִנְחָלandוְyou shall haveיִהְיֶה לְךָnoלֹאportionחֵלֶקamong them;בְּתוֹכָםI amאֲנִיyour portionחֶלְקְךָand your inheritanceוְנַחֲלָתְךָamongבְּתוֹךְthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
Andוְto the sonsלִבְנֵיof Levi,לֵוִיlook,הִנֵּהI have givenנָתַתִּיeveryכָּלtitheמַעֲשֵׂרin Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלas an inheritance,לְנַחֲלָהin return forחֵלֶףtheir serviceעֲבֹדָתָםthatאֲשֶׁרtheyהֵםdo,עֹבְדִיםthe serviceאֶת עֲבֹדַתof the tentאֹהֶלof meeting.מוֹעֵד
Andוְthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלshall noלֹאlongerעוֹדcome nearיִקְרְבוּtoאֶלthe tentאֹהֶלof meeting,מוֹעֵדto bearלָשֵׂאתsinחֵטְאand die.לָמוּת
But the Levitesוְ הַלֵּוִיthemselvesהוּאshall doעָבַדthe serviceאֶת עֲבֹדַתof the tentאֹהֶלof meeting,מוֹעֵדandוְtheyהֵםshall bearיִשְׂאוּtheir iniquity;עֲוֺנָםit shall be a statuteחֻקַּתforeverעוֹלָםthroughout your generations;לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶםandוּamongבְתוֹךְthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלthey shall notלֹאinheritיִנְחֲלוּan inheritance.נַחֲלָה
Forכִּיthe titheאֶת מַעְשַׂרof the sonsבְּנֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלwhichאֲשֶׁרthey set apartיָרִימוּto YHWHלַיהוָהas a contribution,תְּרוּמָהI have givenנָתַתִּיto the Levitesלַלְוִיִּםas an inheritance;לְנַחֲלָהthereforeעַל כֵּןI have saidאָמַרְתִּיto them,לָהֶם‘Amongבְּתוֹךְthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלthey shall notלֹאinheritיִנְחֲלוּan inheritance.’”נַחֲלָה
YHWHיְהוָהspokeוַיְדַבֵּרto Moses,אֶל מֹשֶׁהsaying,לֵּאמֹר
“Andוְtoאֶלthe Levitesהַלְוִיִּםyou shall speakתְּדַבֵּרand sayוְאָמַרְתָּto them,אֲלֵהֶם‘Whenכִּיyou takeתִקְחוּfromמֵאֵתthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלthe titheאֶת הַמַּעֲשֵׂרthatאֲשֶׁרI have givenנָתַתִּיyouלָכֶםfrom themמֵאִתָּםas your inheritance,בְּנַחֲלַתְכֶםthen you shall set apartוַהֲרֵמֹתֶםfrom itמִמֶּנּוּa contributionתְּרוּמַתfor YHWH,יְהוָהa titheמַעֲשֵׂרofמִןthe tithe.הַמַּעֲשֵׂר
And your contributionתְּרוּמַתְכֶםshall be countedוְנֶחְשַׁבto youלָכֶםas the grainכַּדָּגָןfromמִןthe threshing floor,הַגֹּרֶןandוְas the full produceכַמְלֵאָהfromמִןthe winepress.הַיָּקֶב
Soכֵּןyouאַתֶּםalsoגַםshall set apartתָּרִימוּa contributionתְּרוּמַתfor YHWHיְהוָהfrom allמִכֹּלyour tithesמַעְשְׂרֹתֵיכֶםthatאֲשֶׁרyou takeתִּקְחוּfromמֵאֵתthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלand you shall giveוּנְתַתֶּםfrom itמִמֶּנּוּthe contributionאֶת תְּרוּמַתfor YHWHיְהוָהto Aaronלְאַהֲרֹןthe priest.הַכֹּהֵן
From allמִכֹּלyour giftsמַתְּנֹתֵיכֶםyou shall set apartתָּרִימוּeveryאֵת כָּלcontributionתְּרוּמַתfor YHWH,יְהוָהfrom allמִכָּלthe best of it,חֶלְבּוֹthe holy part of itאֶת מִקְדְּשׁוֹfrom it.מִמֶּנּוּ
And you shall sayוְאָמַרְתָּto them,אֲלֵהֶם‘When you set apartבַּהֲרִימְכֶםthe best of itאֶת חֶלְבּוֹfrom it,מִמֶּנּוּthen it shall be countedוְנֶחְשַׁבto the Levitesלַלְוִיִּםas the produceכִּתְבוּאַתof the threshing floorגֹּרֶןandוְas the produceכִתְבוּאַתof the winepress.יָקֶב
And you may eatוַאֲכַלְתֶּםitאֹתוֹin everyבְּכָלplace,מָקוֹםyouאַתֶּםand your households,וּבֵיתְכֶםforכִּיitהוּאis your wagesשָׂכָר לָכֶםin return forחֵלֶףyour serviceעֲבֹדַתְכֶםin the tentבְּאֹהֶלof meeting.מוֹעֵד
And you shall notוְלֹאbearתִשְׂאוּsinחֵטְאbecause of it,עָלָיוwhen you set apartבַּהֲרִימְכֶםthe best of itאֶת חֶלְבּוֹfrom it;מִמֶּנּוּandוְyou shall notלֹאprofaneתְחַלְּלוּthe holy thingsאֶת קָדְשֵׁיof the sonsבְנֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלso thatוְyou will notלֹאdie.’”תָמוּתוּ
