SoοὖνI exhortπαρακαλῶthe eldersΠρεσβυτέρουςamongἐνyou,ὑμῖνI the fellow elderὁ συμπρεσβύτεροςandκαὶwitnessμάρτυςof the sufferingsτῶν παθημάτωνof the Messiah,τοῦ Χριστοῦandκαὶsharerὁ κοινωνόςin the gloryτῆς δόξηςthat is aboutμελλούσηςto be revealed:ἀποκαλύπτεσθαι
shepherdποιμάνατεthe flockτὸ ποίμνιονof Godτοῦ θεοῦamongἐνyou,ὑμῖνoverseeing it,ἐπισκοποῦντεςnotμὴunder compulsionἀναγκαστῶςbutἀλλὰwillingly,ἑκουσίωςaccording toκατὰGod;θεόνnotμηδὲfor shameful gainαἰσχροκερδῶςbutἀλλὰeagerly;προθύμως
norμηδ’asὡςlording it overκατακυριεύοντεςthose entrusted to you,τῶν κλήρωνbutἀλλὰbeingγινόμενοιexamplesτύποιto the flock.τοῦ ποιμνίου
Andκαὶwhen the chief Shepherdτοῦ ἀρχιποίμενοςappears,φανερωθέντοςyou will receiveκομιεῖσθεthe unfadingτὸν ἀμαράντινονcrownστέφανονof glory.τῆς δόξης
Likewise,ὁμοίωςyou younger,νεώτεροιsubmitὑποτάγητεto the elders.πρεσβυτέροιςAndδὲall of you,πάντεςclothe yourselvesἐγκομβώσασθεwith humilityτὴν ταπεινοφροσύνηνtoward one another,ἀλλήλοιςbecauseὅτιGodὉ θεὸςopposesἀντιτάσσεταιthe proud,ὑπερηφάνοιςbutδὲgivesδίδωσινgraceχάρινto the humble.ταπεινοῖς
Humble yourselvesΤαπεινώθητεthenοὖνunderὑπὸthe mightyτὴν κραταιὰνhandχεῖραof God,τοῦ θεοῦso thatἵναhe may exaltὑψώσῃyouὑμᾶςinἐνdue time,καιρῷ
castingἐπιρίψαντεςallπᾶσανyour anxietyτὴν μέριμναν ὑμῶνonἐπ’him,αὐτόνbecauseὅτιheαὐτῷcaresμέλειaboutπερὶyou.ὑμῶν
Be sober,νήψατεkeep watch.γρηγορήσατεYour adversaryὁ ἀντίδικος ὑμῶνthe devilδιάβολοςprowls aroundπεριπατεῖlikeὡςa roaringὠρυόμενοςlion,λέωνseekingζητῶνsomeoneτιναto devour.καταπιεῖν
Resistἀντίστητεhim,ᾧfirmστερεοὶin the faith,τῇ πίστειknowingεἰδότεςthat the sameτὰ αὐτὰkinds of sufferingτῶν παθημάτωνare being accomplishedἐπιτελεῖσθαιinτῇ ἐνyourὑμῶνbrotherhoodἀδελφότητιinτῷthe world.κόσμῳ
Andδὲthe Godὁ θεὸςof allπάσηςgrace,χάριτοςwhoὁcalledκαλέσαςyouὑμᾶςtoεἰςhis eternalτὴν αἰώνιον αὐτοῦgloryδόξανinἐνthe Messiah,Χριστῷafter you have sufferedπαθόνταςa little,ὀλίγονwill himselfαὐτὸςequip,καταρτίσειmake firm,στηρίξειstrengthen,σθενώσειandestablish you.θεμελιώσει
To himαὐτῷbethe powerτὸ κράτοςforever and ever.εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνωνAmen.ἀμήν
