You shall notלֹאsacrificeתִזְבַּחto YHWHלַיהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָan oxשׁוֹרor a lambוָשֶׂהthatאֲשֶׁרhasיִהְיֶה בוֹa defect,מוּםanythingכֹּל דָּבָרbad,רָעforכִּיitהוּאis an abominationתוֹעֲבַתto YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohim.אֱלֹהֶיךָ
Ifכִּיthere is foundיִמָּצֵאamong you,בְקִרְבְּךָin oneבְּאַחַדof your gatesשְׁעָרֶיךָthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָis givingנֹתֵןyou,לָךְa manאִישׁorאוֹa womanאִשָּׁהwhoאֲשֶׁרdoesיַעֲשֶׂהwhat is evilאֶת הָרַעin the eyesבְּעֵינֵיof YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohim,אֱלֹהֶיךָtransgressingלַעֲבֹרhis covenant,בְּרִיתוֹ
and has goneוַיֵּלֶךְand servedוַיַּעֲבֹדotherאֲחֵרִיםgodsאֱלֹהִיםand bowed downוַיִּשְׁתַּחוּto them,לָהֶםor to the sunוְלַשֶּׁמֶשׁorאוֹto the moonלַיָּרֵחַorאוֹto anyלְכָלof the armyצְבָאof the heavens,הַשָּׁמַיִםwhichאֲשֶׁרI have notלֹאcommanded,צִוִּיתִי
and it is toldוְהֻגַּדto youלְךָand you hear of it,וְשָׁמָעְתָּthen you shall seekוְדָרַשְׁתָּthoroughly.הֵיטֵבAnd look,וְהִנֵּהif it is trueאֱמֶתand the matterהַדָּבָרcertain,נָכוֹןthat thisהַזֹּאתabominationהַתּוֹעֵבָהhas been doneנֶעֶשְׂתָהin Israel,בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל
then you shall bring outוְהוֹצֵאתָthatהַהוּאmanאֶת הָאִישׁorאוֹthatהַהִואwomanאֶת הָאִשָּׁהwhoאֲשֶׁרhave doneעָשׂוּthisהַזֶּהevilהָרָעthingאֶת הַדָּבָרto your gates,אֶל שְׁעָרֶיךָthe manאֶת הָאִישׁorאוֹthe woman,אֶת הָאִשָּׁהand you shall stone themוּסְקַלְתָּםwith stonesבָּאֲבָנִיםso that they die.וָמֵתוּ
On the wordעַל פִּיof twoשְׁנַיִםwitnessesעֵדִיםorאוֹthreeשְׁלֹשָׁהwitnessesעֵדִיםthe one who is to dieהַמֵּתshall be put to death;יוּמַתhe shall notלֹאbe put to deathיוּמַתon the wordעַל פִּיof oneאֶחָדwitness.עֵד
The handיַדof the witnessesהָעֵדִיםshall beתִּהְיֶהagainst himבּוֹfirstבָרִאשֹׁנָהto put him to death,לַהֲמִיתוֹand the handוְיַדof allכָּלthe peopleהָעָםafterward.בָּאַחֲרֹנָהSo you shall removeוּבִעַרְתָּthe evilהָרָעfrom among you.מִקִּרְבֶּךָ
Ifכִּיa matterדָבָרfor judgmentלַמִּשְׁפָּטis too difficultיִפָּלֵאfor you,מִמְּךָbetween bloodבֵּין דָּםand blood,לְדָםbetween caseבֵּין דִּיןand case,לְדִיןand betweenוּבֵיןblowנֶגַעand blow,לָנֶגַעmattersדִּבְרֵיof disputeרִיבֹתwithin your gates,בִּשְׁעָרֶיךָthen you shall ariseוְקַמְתָּand go upוְעָלִיתָto the placeאֶל הַמָּקוֹםthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָchooses.יִבְחַר בּוֹ
And you shall comeוּבָאתָto the priests,אֶל הַכֹּהֲנִיםthe Levites,הַלְוִיִּםand toוְאֶלthe judgeהַשֹּׁפֵטwhoאֲשֶׁרisיִהְיֶהin thoseהָהֵםdays,בַּיָּמִיםand you shall inquire,וְדָרַשְׁתָּand they shall announceוְהִגִּידוּto youלְךָthe wordאֵת דְּבַרof judgment.הַמִּשְׁפָּט
And you shall actוְעָשִׂיתָaccording toעַל פִּיthe wordהַדָּבָרthatאֲשֶׁרthey announceיַגִּידוּto youלְךָfrom thatהַהוּאplaceמִן הַמָּקוֹםthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהchooses,יִבְחַרand you shall be carefulוְשָׁמַרְתָּto doלַעֲשׂוֹתaccording to allכְּכֹלthatאֲשֶׁרthey instruct you.יוֹרוּךָ
According toעַל פִּיthe instructionהַתּוֹרָהthatאֲשֶׁרthey instruct youיוֹרוּךָand according toוְעַלthe judgmentהַמִּשְׁפָּטthatאֲשֶׁרthey tellיֹאמְרוּyou,לְךָyou shall act;תַּעֲשֶׂהyou shall notלֹאturn asideתָסוּרfromמִןthe wordהַדָּבָרthatאֲשֶׁרthey announceיַגִּידוּto you,לְךָto the rightיָמִיןor the left.וּשְׂמֹאל
And the manוְהָאִישׁwhoאֲשֶׁרactsיַעֲשֶׂהwith arroganceבְזָדוֹןso as notלְבִלְתִּיto listenשְׁמֹעַto the priestאֶל הַכֹּהֵןwho standsהָעֹמֵדto ministerלְשָׁרֶתthereשָׁםto YHWHאֶת יְהוָהyour Elohim,אֱלֹהֶיךָorאוֹto the judge,אֶל הַשֹּׁפֵטthatהַהוּאmanהָאִישׁshall die.וּמֵתSo you shall removeוּבִעַרְתָּthe evilהָרָעfrom Israel.מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל
And allוְכָלthe peopleהָעָםshall hearיִשְׁמְעוּand fear,וְיִרָאוּand they shall notוְלֹאact with arroganceיְזִידוּןagain.עוֹד
Whenכִּיyou comeתָבֹאto the landאֶל הָאָרֶץthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָis givingנֹתֵןyou,לָךְand you possess itוִירִשְׁתָּהּand liveוְיָשַׁבְתָּהin it,בָּהּand you say,וְאָמַרְתָּ“I will setאָשִׂימָהover meעָלַיa king,מֶלֶךְlike allכְּכָלthe nationsהַגּוֹיִםthatאֲשֶׁרare around me,”סְבִיבֹתָי
you shall surely setשׂוֹם תָּשִׂיםover youעָלֶיךָa kingמֶלֶךְwhomאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָchooses.יִבְחַר בּוֹFrom amongמִקֶּרֶבyour brothersאַחֶיךָyou shall setתָּשִׂיםover youעָלֶיךָa king;מֶלֶךְyou may notלֹא תוּכַלputלָתֵתover youעָלֶיךָa foreignנָכְרִיman,אִישׁwhoאֲשֶׁרis notלֹאyour brother.אָחִיךָ הוּא
Onlyרַקhe shall notלֹאmultiplyיַרְבֶּהhorsesסוּסִיםfor himself,לּוֹand he shall notוְלֹאmakeיָשִׁיבthe peopleאֶת הָעָםreturnיָשִׁיבto Egyptמִצְרַיְמָהin order toלְמַעַןmultiplyהַרְבּוֹתhorses,סוּסsince YHWHוַיהוָהhas saidאָמַרto you,לָכֶם“You shall notלֹאagainתֹסִפוּן עוֹדreturnלָשׁוּבon thisהַזֶּהway.”בַּדֶּרֶךְ
And he shall notוְלֹאmultiplyיַרְבֶּהwivesנָשִׁיםfor himself,לּוֹso that his heartוְ לְבָבוֹdoes notלֹאturn aside;יָסוּרand silverוְכֶסֶףand goldוְזָהָבhe shall notלֹאmultiplyיַרְבֶּהfor himselfלּוֹgreatly.מְאֹד
And whenוְהָיָה כְhe sitsשִׁבְתּוֹon the throneעַל כִּסֵּאof his kingdom,מַמְלַכְתּוֹhe shall writeוְכָתַבfor himselfלוֹa copyאֶת מִשְׁנֵהof thisהַזֹּאתinstructionהַתּוֹרָהinעַלa book,סֵפֶרfrom the one that is beforeמִלִּפְנֵיthe priests,הַכֹּהֲנִיםthe Levites.הַלְוִיִּם
And it shall beוְהָיְתָהwith him,עִמּוֹand he shall readוְקָרָאin itבוֹallכָּלthe daysיְמֵיof his life,חַיָּיוso thatלְמַעַןhe may learnיִלְמַדto fearלְיִרְאָהYHWHאֶת יְהוָהhis Elohim,אֱלֹהָיוkeepingלִשְׁמֹרallאֶת כָּלthe wordsדִּבְרֵיof thisהַזֹּאתinstructionהַתּוֹרָהand theseוְאֶת הָאֵלֶּהstatutes,הַחֻקִּיםdoing them,לַעֲשֹׂתָם
so that his heartלְבִלְתִּי לְבָבוֹmay not be lifted upרוּםabove his brothers,מֵאֶחָיוand so that he may notוּלְבִלְתִּיturn asideסוּרfromמִןthe commandment,הַמִּצְוָהto the rightיָמִיןor the left,וּשְׂמֹאולin order thatלְמַעַןhe may prolongיַאֲרִיךְhis daysיָמִיםoverעַלhis kingdom,מַמְלַכְתּוֹheהוּאand his sons,וּבָנָיוin the midstבְּקֶרֶבof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
