Ifכִּיthere isיִהְיֶהa disputeרִיבbetweenבֵּיןmen,אֲנָשִׁיםand they come nearוְנִגְּשׁוּtoאֶלjudgment,הַמִּשְׁפָּטand they judge them,וּשְׁפָטוּםthey shall declare righteousוְהִצְדִּיקוּthe righteousהַצַּדִּיקand declare wickedוְהִרְשִׁיעוּthe wicked.הָרָשָׁע
Then it shall be,וְהָיָהifאִםthe wicked oneהָרָשָׁעdeservesבִּןto be struck,הַכּוֹתthat the judgeוְ הַשֹּׁפֵטshall make him lie downהִפִּילוֹand have him struckוְהִכָּהוּbefore himלְפָנָיוaccording toכְּדֵיhis wickedness,רִשְׁעָתוֹby number.בְּמִסְפָּר
Forty blowsאַרְבָּעִיםhe may strike him,יַכֶּנּוּnotלֹאmore,יֹסִיףlestפֶּןhe go onיֹסִיףto strike himלְהַכֹּתוֹwith manyרַבָּהblowsמַכָּהbeyondעַלthese,אֵלֶּהand your brotherוְ אָחִיךָbe degradedנִקְלָהin your eyes.לְעֵינֶיךָ
You shall notלֹאmuzzleתַחְסֹםan oxשׁוֹרwhile it is threshing.בְּדִישׁוֹ
Ifכִּיbrothersאַחִיםliveיֵשְׁבוּtogetherיַחְדָּוand oneוּ אַחַדof themמֵהֶםdiesמֵתand hasלוֹnoאֵיןson,וּבֵןthe wifeאֵשֶׁתof the dead manהַמֵּתshall notלֹאbelong,תִהְיֶהoutside the family,הַחוּצָהto a strange man.לְאִישׁ זָרHer brother-in-lawיְבָמָהּshall go inיָבֹאto herעָלֶיהָand take herוּלְקָחָהּfor himselfלוֹas a wifeלְאִשָּׁהand perform the duty of a brother-in-law to her.וְיִבְּמָהּ
And the firstbornוְהָיָה הַבְּכוֹרwhomאֲשֶׁרshe bearsתֵּלֵדshall succeedיָקוּםtoעַלthe nameשֵׁםof his deadהַמֵּתbrother,אָחִיוso thatוְhis nameשְׁמוֹis notלֹאblotted outיִמָּחֶהfrom Israel.מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל
But ifוְאִםthe manהָאִישׁdoes notלֹאwantיַחְפֹּץto takeלָקַחַתhis sister-in-law,יְבִמְתּוֹthen his sister-in-lawוְ יְבִמְתּוֹshall go upעָלְתָהto the gate,הַשַּׁעְרָהtoאֶלthe elders,הַזְּקֵנִיםand say,וְאָמְרָה“My brother-in-lawיְבָמִיrefusesמֵאֵיןto raise upלְהָקִיםa nameשֵׁםfor his brotherלְאָחִיוin Israel;בְּיִשְׂרָאֵלhe is notלֹאwillingאָבָהto perform the duty of a brother-in-law to me.”יַבְּמִי
Then the eldersוְ זִקְנֵיof his cityעִירוֹshall callקָרְאוּhimלוֹand speakוְדִבְּרוּto him.אֵלָיוAnd if he standsוְעָמַדand says,וְאָמַר“I do notלֹאwantחָפַצְתִּיto take her,”לְקַחְתָּהּ
then his sister-in-lawוְ יְבִמְתּוֹshall come nearנִגְּשָׁהto himאֵלָיוin the sightלְעֵינֵיof the eldersהַזְּקֵנִיםand pullוְחָלְצָהhis sandalנַעֲלוֹoffמֵעַלhis footרַגְלוֹand spitוְיָרְקָהin his face;בְּפָנָיוand she shall answerוְעָנְתָהand say,וְאָמְרָה“Soכָּכָהshall it be doneיֵעָשֶׂהto the manלָאִישׁwhoאֲשֶׁרdoes notלֹאbuild upיִבְנֶהhis brother’sאָחִיוhouse.”בֵּית
And his nameוְ שְׁמוֹshall be calledנִקְרָאin Israel,בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל“The houseבֵּיתof him whose sandal was pulled off.”חֲלוּץ הַנָּעַל
Whenכִּיmenאֲנָשִׁיםfightיִנָּצוּtogether,יַחְדָּוa manאִישׁand his brother,וְאָחִיוand the wifeוְ אֵשֶׁתof the oneהָאֶחָדcomes nearקָרְבָהto rescueלְהַצִּילher husbandאִישָׁהּfrom the handמִיַּדof the one striking him,מַכֵּהוּand she puts outוְשָׁלְחָהher handיָדָהּand seizes himוְהֶחֱזִיקָהby his private parts,בִּמְבֻשָׁיו
then you shall cut offוְקַצֹּתָהher hand;כַּפָּהּyour eyeעֵינֶךָshall notלֹאpity her.תָחוֹס
You shall notלֹאhaveיִהְיֶהin your bagבְּכִיסְךָa weightלְךָ אֶבֶןand a weight,וָאָבֶןa largeגְּדוֹלָהand a small.וּקְטַנָּה
You shall notלֹאhaveיִהְיֶהin your houseלְךָ בְּבֵיתְךָan ephahאֵיפָהand an ephah,וְאֵיפָהa largeגְּדוֹלָהand a small.וּקְטַנָּה
A fullשְׁלֵמָהand justוָצֶדֶקweightאֶבֶןyou shall have;יִהְיֶה לָּךְa fullשְׁלֵמָהand justוָצֶדֶקephahאֵיפָהyou shall have;יִהְיֶה לָּךְso thatלְמַעַןyour daysיָמֶיךָmay be longיַאֲרִיכוּonעַלthe landהָאֲדָמָהthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָis givingנֹתֵןyou.לָךְ
Forכִּיeveryoneכָּלwho doesעֹשֵׂהthese things,אֵלֶּהeveryoneכֹּלwho doesעֹשֵׂהinjustice,עָוֶלis an abominationתוֹעֲבַתto YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohim.אֱלֹהֶיךָ
RememberזָכוֹרwhatאֲשֶׁרAmalekעֲמָלֵקdidעָשָׂהto youלְךָon the wayבַּדֶּרֶךְwhen you came outבְּצֵאתְכֶםof Egypt:מִמִּצְרָיִם
howאֲשֶׁרhe met youקָרְךָon the wayבַּדֶּרֶךְand cut offוַיְזַנֵּבat your rearבְּךָallכָּלthe stragglersהַנֶּחֱשָׁלִיםbehind you,אַחַרֶיךָwhen youוְאַתָּהwere wearyעָיֵףand worn out;וְיָגֵעַand he did notוְלֹאfearיָרֵאElohim.אֱלֹהִים
Therefore it shall be,וְהָיָהwhenבְּYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָhas given restהָנִיחַto youלְךָfrom allמִכָּלyour enemiesאֹיְבֶיךָaround,מִסָּבִיבin the landבָּאָרֶץthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָis givingנֹתֵןyouלְךָas an inheritanceנַחֲלָהto possess it,לְרִשְׁתָּהּthat you shall blot outתִּמְחֶהthe memoryזֵכֶרof Amalekעֲמָלֵקfrom underמִתַּחַתthe heavens.הַשָּׁמָיִםYou shall notלֹאforget.תִּשְׁכָּח
