In the tenth year,בַּשָּׁנָה הָעֲשִׂירִיתin the tenth month,בָּעֲשִׂרִיon the twelfth dayבִּשְׁנֵים עָשָׂרof the month,לַחֹדֶשׁthe wordדְבַרof YHWHיְהוָהcameהָיָהto me,אֵלַיsaying,לֵאמֹר
“Sonבֶּןof man,אָדָםsetשִׂיםyour faceפָּנֶיךָagainst Pharaoh,עַל פַּרְעֹהkingמֶלֶךְof Egypt,מִצְרָיִםand prophesyוְהִנָּבֵאagainst himעָלָיוand against allוְעַל כֻּלָּהּEgypt.מִצְרַיִם
Speakדַּבֵּרand say,וְאָמַרְתָּ‘ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH:יְהוִהLook, I amהִנְנִיagainst you,עָלֶיךָPharaoh,פַּרְעֹהkingמֶלֶךְof Egypt,מִצְרַיִםthe greatהַגָּדוֹלsea monsterהַתַּנִּיםlyingהָרֹבֵץin the midstבְּתוֹךְof his channels,יְאֹרָיוwhoאֲשֶׁרhas said,אָמַר“Mineלִיis my Nile,יְאֹרִיand Iוַאֲנִיmade it for myself.”עֲשִׂיתִנִי
And I will putוְנָתַתִּיhooksחַחִיםin your jaws,בִּלְחָיֶיךָand I will makeוְהִדְבַּקְתִּיthe fishדְגַתof your channelsיְאֹרֶיךָstickהִדְבַּקְתִּיto your scales;בְּקַשְׂקְשֹׂתֶיךָand I will bring you upוְהַעֲלִיתִיךָfrom the midstמִתּוֹךְof your channels,יְאֹרֶיךָand allוְ כָּלthe fishדְּגַתof your channelsיְאֹרֶיךָwill stickתִּדְבָּקto your scales.בְּקַשְׂקְשֹׂתֶיךָ
And I will leave youוּנְטַשְׁתִּיךָin the wilderness,הַמִּדְבָּרָהyouאוֹתְךָand allוְ כָּלthe fishדְּגַתof your channels;יְאֹרֶיךָon the faceעַל פְּנֵיof the fieldהַשָּׂדֶהyou will fall;תִּפּוֹלyou will notלֹאbe gatheredתֵאָסֵףnorוְלֹאbe collected;תִקָּבֵץto the animalsלְחַיַּתof the earthהָאָרֶץand to the birdsוּלְעוֹףof the heavensהַשָּׁמַיִםI have given youנְתַתִּיךָas food.לְאָכְלָה
And allוְ כָּלthe inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵיof Egyptמִצְרַיִםwill knowיָדְעוּthatכִּיI amאֲנִיYHWH,יְהוָהbecauseיַעַןthey have beenהֱיוֹתָםa staffמִשְׁעֶנֶתof reedקָנֶהto the houseלְבֵיתof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
When they graspedבְּתָפְשָׂםyouבְּךָby the hand,בַכַּףyou brokeתֵּרוֹץand toreוּבָקַעְתָּallכָּלtheir shoulders;לָהֶם כָּתֵףand when they leanedוּבְהִשָּׁעֲנָםon you,עָלֶיךָyou were broken,תִּשָּׁבֵרand you madeוְהַעֲמַדְתָּallכָּלtheir loinsלָהֶם מָתְנָיִםstagger.הַעֲמַדְתָּ
ThereforeלָכֵןthusכֹּהsaysאָמַרAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH:יְהוִהLook, I amהִנְנִיbringingמֵבִיאagainst youעָלַיִךְa sword,חָרֶבand I will cut offוְהִכְרַתִּיfrom youמִמֵּךְhuman beingאָדָםand livestock.וּבְהֵמָה
And the landוְ אֶרֶץof Egyptמִצְרַיִםwill becomeהָיְתָהa desolationלִשְׁמָמָהand a ruin,וְחָרְבָּהand they will knowוְיָדְעוּthatכִּיI amאֲנִיYHWH;יְהוָהbecauseיַעַןhe said,אָמַר“The Nileיְאֹרis mine,לִיand Iוַאֲנִיmade it,”עָשִׂיתִי
thereforeלָכֵןlook, I amהִנְנִיagainst youאֵלֶיךָand against your channels,וְאֶל יְאֹרֶיךָand I will makeוְנָתַתִּיthe landאֶרֶץof Egyptמִצְרַיִםinto ruinsלְחָרְבוֹתof dryness,חֹרֶבa desolation,שְׁמָמָהfrom Migdolמִמִּגְדֹּלto Syeneסְוֵנֵהand as far asוְעַדthe borderגְּבוּלof Cush.כּוּשׁ
Noלֹאhumanאָדָםfootרֶגֶלwill passתַעֲבָרthrough it,בָּהּand the footוְרֶגֶלof livestockבְּהֵמָהwill notלֹאpassתַעֲבָרthrough it,בָּהּand it will notוְלֹאbe inhabitedתֵשֵׁבfortyאַרְבָּעִיםyears.שָׁנָה
And I will makeוְנָתַתִּיthe landאֶרֶץof Egyptמִצְרַיִםa desolationשְׁמָמָהin the midstבְּתוֹךְof desolatedנְשַׁמּוֹתlands,אֲרָצוֹתand her cities,וְעָרֶיהָin the midstבְּתוֹךְof ruinedמָחֳרָבוֹתcities,עָרִיםwill beתִּהְיֶיןָa desolationשְׁמָמָהfortyאַרְבָּעִיםyears;שָׁנָהand I will scatterוַהֲפִצֹתִיEgyptמִצְרַיִםamong the nationsבַּגּוֹיִםand disperse themוְזֵרִיתִיםthrough the lands.בָּאֲרָצוֹת
ForכִּיthusכֹּהsaysאָמַרAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH:יְהוִהAt the endמִקֵּץof fortyאַרְבָּעִיםyearsשָׁנָהI will gatherאֲקַבֵּץEgyptמִצְרַיִםfrom the peoplesמִן הָעַמִּיםamong whomאֲשֶׁר שָׁמָּהthey were scattered.נָפֹצוּ
And I will bring backוְשַׁבְתִּיthe captivityשְׁבוּתof Egypt,מִצְרַיִםand I will bring them backוַהֲשִׁבֹתִי אֹתָםto the landאֶרֶץof Pathros,פַּתְרוֹסto the landעַל אֶרֶץof their origin,מְכוּרָתָםand they will beוְהָיוּthereשָׁםa lowlyשְׁפָלָהkingdom.מַמְלָכָה
Lowlierשְׁפָלָהthan the kingdomsמִן הַמַּמְלָכוֹתit will be,תִּהְיֶהand it will notוְלֹאexalt itselfתִתְנַשֵּׂאany moreעוֹדabove the nations;עַל הַגּוֹיִםand I will make them fewוְהִמְעַטְתִּיםso that they will notלְבִלְתִּיruleרְדוֹתover the nations.בַּגּוֹיִם
And it will noוְלֹאlongerעוֹדbeיִהְיֶהto the houseלְבֵיתof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלan object of confidenceלְמִבְטָחbringing to mindמַזְכִּירiniquity,עָוֺןwhen they turnedבִּפְנוֹתָםafter them;אַחֲרֵיהֶםand they will knowוְיָדְעוּthatכִּיI amאֲנִיAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH.’”יְהוִה
And it came aboutוַיְהִיin the twenty-seventh year,בְּעֶשְׂרִים וָשֶׁבַע שָׁנָהin the first month,בָּרִאשׁוֹןon the first dayבְּאֶחָדof the month,לַחֹדֶשׁthe wordדְבַרof YHWHיְהוָהcameהָיָהto me,אֵלַיsaying,לֵאמֹר
“Sonבֶּןof man,אָדָםNebuchadnezzarנְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּרkingמֶלֶךְof Babylonבָּבֶלmadeהֶעֱבִידhis armyחֵילוֹperformהֶעֱבִידa greatגְדֹלָהlaborעֲבֹדָהagainst Tyre;אֶל צֹרeveryכָּלheadרֹאשׁwas made baldמֻקְרָחand everyוְכָלshoulderכָּתֵףrubbed bare;מְרוּטָהand there was noוְ לֹא הָיָהwageשָׂכָרfor himלוֹor for his armyוּלְחֵילוֹfrom Tyreמִצֹּרfor the laborעַל הָעֲבֹדָהthatאֲשֶׁרhe laboredעָבַדagainst her.עָלֶיהָ
ThereforeלָכֵןthusכֹּהsaysאָמַרAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH:יְהוִהLook, I amהִנְנִיgivingנֹתֵןto Nebuchadnezzarלִנְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּרkingמֶלֶךְof Babylonבָּבֶלthe landאֶרֶץof Egypt;מִצְרָיִםand he will carry offוְנָשָׂאher multitudeהֲמֹנָהּand takeוְשָׁלַלher spoilשְׁלָלָהּand plunderוּבָזַזher booty,בִּזָּהּand it will beוְהָיְתָהthe wageשָׂכָרfor his army.לְחֵילוֹ
As his payפְּעֻלָּתוֹfor whichאֲשֶׁרhe laboredעָבַדagainst herבָּהּI have given himנָתַתִּי לוֹthe landאֶרֶץof Egypt,מִצְרָיִםbecauseאֲשֶׁרthey did itעָשׂוּfor me,לִיdeclaresנְאֻםAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH.יְהוִה
On that dayבַּיּוֹם הַהוּאI will make sproutאַצְמִיחַa hornקֶרֶןfor the houseלְבֵיתof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלand to youוּלְךָI will giveאֶתֵּןan openingפִּתְחוֹןof the mouthפֶּהin their midst;בְּתוֹכָםand they will knowוְיָדְעוּthatכִּיI amאֲנִיYHWH.”יְהוָה
