And the wordוַ דְבַרof YHWHיְהוָהcameיְהִיto me,אֵלַיsaying,לֵאמֹר
“Sonבֶּןof man,אָדָםsetשִׂיםyour faceפָּנֶיךָagainst Mountעַל הַרSeir,שֵׂעִירand prophesyוְהִנָּבֵאagainst it,עָלָיו
and sayוְאָמַרְתָּto it,לּוֹ‘ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH:יְהוִהLook, I amהִנְנִיagainst you,אֵלֶיךָMountהַרSeir,שֵׂעִירand I will stretch outוְנָטִיתִיmy handיָדִיagainst you,עָלֶיךָand I will make youוּנְתַתִּיךָa desolationשְׁמָמָהand a horror.וּמְשַׁמָּה
Your citiesעָרֶיךָI will makeאָשִׂיםa ruin,חָרְבָּהand youוְאַתָּהwill becomeתִהְיֶהa desolation,שְׁמָמָהand you will knowוְיָדַעְתָּthatכִּיI amאֲנִיYHWH.יְהוָה
Becauseיַעַןyou hadהֱיוֹת לְךָan eternalעוֹלָםenmityאֵיבַתand poured outוַתַּגֵּרthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלinto the handsעַל יְדֵיof the swordחָרֶבat the timeבְּעֵתof their calamity,אֵידָםat the timeבְּעֵתof the iniquityעֲוֺןof the end,קֵץ
therefore,לָכֵןas I live,חַי אָנִיdeclaresנְאֻםAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH,יְהוִהsurelyכִּיI will make youאֶעֶשְׂךָinto blood,לְדָםand bloodוְדָםwill pursue you;יִרְדֲּפֶךָsinceאִםyou did notלֹאhateשָׂנֵאתָblood,דָםbloodוְדָםwill pursue you.יִרְדֲּפֶךָ
And I will makeוְנָתַתִּיMountהַרSeirשֵׂעִירa devastationלְשִׁמְמָהand a desolation,וּשְׁמָמָהand I will cut offוְהִכְרַתִּיfrom itמִמֶּנּוּthe one who goesעֹבֵרand the one who returns.וָשָׁב
And I will fillוּמִלֵּאתִיits mountainsהָרָיוwith its slain;חֲלָלָיוon your hillsגִּבְעוֹתֶיךָand in your valleysוְגֵאוֹתֶיךָand in allוְכָלyour watercoursesאֲפִיקֶיךָthose slainחַלְלֵיby the swordחֶרֶבwill fallיִפְּלוּin them.בָהֶם
EternalעוֹלָםdevastationsשִׁמְמוֹתI will make you,אֶתֶּנְךָand your citiesוְעָרֶיךָwill notלֹאbe inhabited;תָשֹׁבְנָהand you will knowוִידַעְתֶּםthatכִּיI amאֲנִיYHWH.יְהוָה
Becauseיַעַןyou said,אֲמָרְךָ“The twoשְׁנֵיnationsהַגּוֹיִםand the twoוְ שְׁתֵּיlandsהָאֲרָצוֹתwill beתִהְיֶינָהmine,לִיand we will possess them,”וִירַשְׁנוּהָthough YHWHוַיהוָהwasהָיָהthere,שָׁם
therefore,לָכֵןas I live,חַי אָנִיdeclaresנְאֻםAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH,יְהוִהI will actוְעָשִׂיתִיaccording to your angerכְּאַפְּךָand according to your jealousyוּכְקִנְאָתְךָwith whichאֲשֶׁרyou actedעָשִׂיתָהout of your hatredמִשִּׂנְאָתֶיךָagainst them;בָּםand I will make myself knownוְנוֹדַעְתִּיamong themבָםwhenכַּאֲשֶׁרI judge you.אֶשְׁפְּטֶךָ
And you will knowוְיָדַעְתָּthatכִּיI,אֲנִיYHWH,יְהוָהhave heardשָׁמַעְתִּיallכָּלyour contemptuous wordsנָאָצוֹתֶיךָthatאֲשֶׁרyou spokeאָמַרְתָּagainst the mountainsעַל הָרֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלsaying,לֵאמֹר“They are desolate;שָׁמֵמוּto usלָנוּthey have been givenנִתְּנוּas food.”לְאָכְלָה
And you magnified yourselvesוַתַּגְדִּילוּagainst meעָלַיwith your mouth,בְּפִיכֶםand multipliedוְהַעְתַּרְתֶּםagainst meעָלַיyour words;דִּבְרֵיכֶםIאֲנִיhave heard it.שָׁמָעְתִּי
ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH:יְהוִהWhenכִּallכָּלthe earthהָאָרֶץrejoices,שְׂמֹחַa desolationשְׁמָמָהI will makeאֶעֱשֶׂהof you.לָּךְ
As you rejoicedכְּשִׂמְחָתְךָover the inheritanceלְנַחְלַתof the houseבֵּיתof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלbecauseעַל אֲשֶׁרit was desolate,שָׁמֵמָהsoכֵּןI will doאֶעֱשֶׂהto you:לָּךְa desolationשְׁמָמָהyou will be,תִהְיֶהMountהַרSeir,שֵׂעִירand allוְכָלEdom,אֱדוֹםall of it;כֻּלָּהּand they will knowוְיָדְעוּthatכִּיI amאֲנִיYHWH.’”יְהוָה
