The handיַדof YHWHיְהוָהwasהָיְתָהupon me,עָלַיand he brought me outוַיּוֹצִאֵנִיin the spiritבְרוּחַof YHWHיְהוָהand set me downוַיְנִיחֵנִיin the midstבְּתוֹךְof the plain;הַבִּקְעָהand itוְהִיאwas fullמְלֵאָהof bones.עֲצָמוֹת
And he made me passוְהֶעֱבִירַנִיby themעֲלֵיהֶםall around;סָבִיב סָבִיבand look,וְהִנֵּהthey were very manyרַבּוֹת מְאֹדon the faceעַל פְּנֵיof the plain;הַבִּקְעָהand look,וְהִנֵּהthey were very dry.יְבֵשׁוֹת מְאֹד
And he saidוַיֹּאמֶרto me,אֵלַי“Sonבֶּןof man,אָדָםwill these bones live?”הֲתִחְיֶינָה הָעֲצָמוֹת הָאֵלֶּהAnd I said,וָאֹמַר“AdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH,יְהוִהyouאַתָּהknow.”יָדָעְתָּ
And he saidוַיֹּאמֶרto me,אֵלַי“Prophesyהִנָּבֵאover these bones,עַל הָעֲצָמוֹת הָאֵלֶּהand sayוְאָמַרְתָּto them,אֲלֵיהֶם‘Dryהַיְבֵשׁוֹתbones,הָעֲצָמוֹתhearשִׁמְעוּthe wordדְּבַרof YHWH.יְהוָה
ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWHיְהוִהto these bones:לָעֲצָמוֹת הָאֵלֶּהLook,הִנֵּהIאֲנִיam bringingמֵבִיאspiritרוּחַinto you,בָכֶםand you will live.וִחְיִיתֶם
And I will putוְנָתַתִּיsinewsגִּדִיםon you,עֲלֵיכֶםand I will bring upוְהַעֲלֵתִיfleshבָּשָׂרon you,עֲלֵיכֶםand I will coverוְקָרַמְתִּיyouעֲלֵיכֶםwith skin,עוֹרand I will putוְנָתַתִּיspiritרוּחַin you,בָכֶםand you will live;וִחְיִיתֶםand you will knowוִידַעְתֶּםthatכִּיI amאֲנִיYHWH.’”יְהוָה
So I prophesiedוְנִבֵּאתִיasכַּאֲשֶׁרI had been commanded;צֻוֵּיתִיand there wasוַיְהִיa soundקוֹלas I prophesied,כְּהִנָּבְאִיand look,וְהִנֵּהa rumbling,רַעַשׁand the bones drew near,וַתִּקְרְבוּ עֲצָמוֹתboneעֶצֶםto its bone.אֶל עַצְמוֹ
And I looked,וְרָאִיתִיand look,וְהִנֵּהon themעֲלֵיהֶםwere sinews,גִּדִיםand fleshוּבָשָׂרhad come up,עָלָהand skinעוֹרcoveredוַיִּקְרַםthemעֲלֵיהֶםfrom above;מִלְמָעְלָהbut spiritוְרוּחַthere was noneאֵיןin them.בָּהֶם
And he saidוַיֹּאמֶרto me,אֵלַי“Prophesyהִנָּבֵאto the spirit;אֶל הָרוּחַprophesy,הִנָּבֵאsonבֶןof man,אָדָםand sayוְאָמַרְתָּto the spirit,אֶל הָרוּחַ‘ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH:יְהוִהFrom the fourמֵאַרְבַּעwindsרוּחוֹתcome,בֹּאִיspirit,הָרוּחַand breatheוּפְחִיon these slain,בַּהֲרוּגִים הָאֵלֶּהand let them live.’”וְיִחְיוּ
So I prophesiedוְהִנַּבֵּאתִיasכַּאֲשֶׁרhe had commanded me;צִוָּנִיand the spiritהָרוּחַcameוַתָּבוֹאinto them,בָהֶםand they livedוַיִּחְיוּand stoodוַיַּעַמְדוּon their feet,עַל רַגְלֵיהֶםan armyחַיִלexceedinglyמְאֹד מְאֹדgreat.גָּדוֹל
And he saidוַיֹּאמֶרto me,אֵלַי“Sonבֶּןof man,אָדָםthese bones,הָעֲצָמוֹת הָאֵלֶּהtheyהֵמָּהare the wholeכָּלhouseבֵּיתof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵלLook,הִנֵּהthey are saying,אֹמְרִים‘Our bonesעַצְמוֹתֵינוּare dried up,יָבְשׁוּand our hopeוְ תִקְוָתֵנוּhas perished;אָבְדָהwe are cut off.’נִגְזַרְנוּ
Thereforeלָכֵןprophesyהִנָּבֵאand sayוְאָמַרְתָּto them,אֲלֵיהֶם‘ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH:יְהוִהLook,הִנֵּהIאֲנִיam openingפֹתֵחַyour graves,קִבְרוֹתֵיכֶםand I will bring you upוְהַעֲלֵיתִי אֶתְכֶםfrom your graves,מִקִּבְרוֹתֵיכֶםmy people,עַמִּיand I will bring youוְהֵבֵאתִי אֶתְכֶםto the groundאֶל אַדְמַתof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
And you will knowוִידַעְתֶּםthatכִּיI amאֲנִיYHWH,יְהוָהwhen I openבְּפִתְחִיyour gravesקִבְרוֹתֵיכֶםand when I bring you upוּבְהַעֲלוֹתִי אֶתְכֶםfrom your graves,מִקִּבְרוֹתֵיכֶםmy people.עַמִּי
And I will putוְנָתַתִּיmy spiritרוּחִיin you,בָכֶםand you will live,וִחְיִיתֶםand I will settleוְהִנַּחְתִּיyouאֶתְכֶםon your own ground;עַל אַדְמַתְכֶםand you will knowוִידַעְתֶּםthatכִּיI,אֲנִיYHWH,יְהוָהhave spokenדִּבַּרְתִּיand will do it,וְעָשִׂיתִיdeclaresנְאֻםYHWH.’”יְהוָה
And the wordוַ דְבַרof YHWHיְהוָהcameיְהִיto me,אֵלַיsaying,לֵאמֹר
“And you,וְאַתָּהsonבֶןof man,אָדָםtakeקַחfor yourselfלְךָoneאֶחָדstick,עֵץand writeוּכְתֹבon it,עָלָיו‘For Judahלִיהוּדָהand for the sonsוְלִבְנֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלhis companions’;חֲבֵרָיוand takeוּלְקַחoneאֶחָדstick,עֵץand writeוּכְתוֹבon it,עָלָיו‘For Joseph,לְיוֹסֵףthe stickעֵץof Ephraim,אֶפְרַיִםand allוְכָלthe houseבֵּיתof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלhis companions.’חֲבֵרָיו
And bring them nearוְקָרַב אֹתָםoneאֶחָדto anotherאֶל אֶחָדfor yourselfלְךָinto one stick,לְעֵץ אֶחָדand they will becomeוְהָיוּoneלַאֲחָדִיםin your hand.בְּיָדֶךָ
And whenוְכַאֲשֶׁרthe sonsבְּנֵיof your peopleעַמְּךָsayיֹאמְרוּto you,אֵלֶיךָsaying,לֵאמֹר‘Will you notהֲלוֹאtellתַגִּידusלָנוּwhatמָהthese meanאֵלֶּהto you?’לָּךְ
sayדַּבֵּרto them,אֲלֵהֶם‘ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH:יְהוִהLook,הִנֵּהIאֲנִיam takingלֹקֵחַthe stickעֵץof Joseph,יוֹסֵףwhichאֲשֶׁרis in the handבְּיַדof Ephraim,אֶפְרַיִםand the tribesוְשִׁבְטֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלhis companions;חֲבֵרָיוand I will putוְנָתַתִּיthemאוֹתָםwith it,עָלָיוwithאֶתthe stickעֵץof Judah,יְהוּדָהand I will make themוַעֲשִׂיתִםinto one stick,לְעֵץ אֶחָדand they will beוְהָיוּoneאֶחָדin my hand.’בְּיָדִי
And the sticksוְ הָעֵצִיםon whichאֲשֶׁר עֲלֵיהֶםyou writeתִּכְתֹּבwill beהָיוּin your handבְּיָדְךָbefore their eyes.לְעֵינֵיהֶם
And sayוְדַבֵּרto them,אֲלֵיהֶם‘ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH:יְהוִהLook,הִנֵּהIאֲנִיam takingלֹקֵחַthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלfrom amongמִבֵּיןthe nationsהַגּוֹיִםto whichאֲשֶׁר שָׁםthey have gone,הָלְכוּand I will gatherוְקִבַּצְתִּיthemאֹתָםfrom all around,מִסָּבִיבand I will bringוְהֵבֵאתִיthemאוֹתָםto their own ground.אֶל אַדְמָתָם
And I will makeוְעָשִׂיתִיthemאֹתָםoneאֶחָדnationלְגוֹיin the land,בָּאָרֶץon the mountainsבְּהָרֵיof Israel;יִשְׂרָאֵלand oneוּ אֶחָדkingמֶלֶךְwill beיִהְיֶהkingלְמֶלֶךְover all of them;לְכֻלָּםand they will no longerוְלֹא עוֹדbeיִהְיוּtwoלִשְׁנֵיnations,גוֹיִםand they will no longerוְלֹא עוֹדbe dividedיֵחָצוּinto twoלִשְׁתֵּיkingdoms.מַמְלָכוֹת
And they will no longerוְלֹא עוֹדdefile themselvesיִטַמְּאוּwith their idolsבְּגִלּוּלֵיהֶםand with their detestable thingsוּבְשִׁקּוּצֵיהֶםand with allוּבְכֹלtheir transgressions;פִּשְׁעֵיהֶםand I will saveוְהוֹשַׁעְתִּיthemאֹתָםfrom allמִכֹּלtheir dwellingsמוֹשְׁבֹתֵיהֶםin whichאֲשֶׁר בָהֶםthey have sinned,חָטְאוּand I will cleanseוְטִהַרְתִּיthem,אוֹתָםand they will beוְהָיוּmy people,לִי לְעָםand Iוַאֲנִיwill beאֶהְיֶהtheirלָהֶםElohim.לֵאלֹהִים
And my servantוְעַבְדִּיDavidדָוִדwill be kingמֶלֶךְover them,עֲלֵיהֶםand oneוְ אֶחָדshepherdרוֹעֶהthere will beיִהְיֶהfor all of them;לְכֻלָּםand in my rulesוּבְמִשְׁפָּטַיthey will walk,יֵלֵכוּand my statutesוְחֻקֹּתַיthey will keepיִשְׁמְרוּand doוְעָשׂוּthem.אוֹתָם
And they will liveוְיָשְׁבוּon the landעַל הָאָרֶץthatאֲשֶׁרI gaveנָתַתִּיto my servant,לְעַבְדִּיto Jacob,לְיַעֲקֹבin whichאֲשֶׁר בָהּyour fathersאֲבוֹתֵיכֶםlived;יָשְׁבוּand they will liveוְיָשְׁבוּon it,עָלֶיהָtheyהֵמָּהand their sonsוּבְנֵיהֶםand the sonsוּבְנֵיof their sons,בְנֵיהֶםforever;עַד עוֹלָםand Davidוְדָוִדmy servantעַבְדִּיwill be chiefנָשִׂיאfor themלָהֶםforever.לְעוֹלָם
And I will makeוְכָרַתִּיwith themלָהֶםa covenantבְּרִיתof peace;שָׁלוֹםan eternalעוֹלָםcovenantבְּרִיתit will beיִהְיֶהwith them.אוֹתָםAnd I will place them,וּנְתַתִּיםand I will multiplyוְהִרְבֵּיתִיthem,אוֹתָםand I will setוְנָתַתִּיmy sanctuaryמִקְדָּשִׁיin their midstבְּתוֹכָםforever.לְעוֹלָם
And my dwellingוְ מִשְׁכָּנִיwill beהָיָהover them;עֲלֵיהֶםand I will beוְהָיִיתִיtheirלָהֶםElohim,לֵאלֹהִיםand theyוְהֵמָּהwill beיִהְיוּmy people.לִי לְעָם
And the nationsוְ הַגּוֹיִםwill knowיָדְעוּthatכִּיI,אֲנִיYHWH,יְהוָהsanctifyמְקַדֵּשׁIsrael,יִשְׂרָאֵלwhen my sanctuary isבִּהְיוֹת מִקְדָּשִׁיin their midstבְּתוֹכָםforever.’”לְעוֹלָם
