Concerning Egypt:לְמִצְרַיִםconcerning the armyעַל חֵילof PharaohפַּרְעֹהNeco,נְכוֹkingמֶלֶךְof Egypt,מִצְרַיִםwhichאֲשֶׁרwasהָיָהby the riverעַל נְהַרEuphratesפְּרָתat Carchemish,בְּכַרְכְּמִשׁwhichאֲשֶׁרNebuchadnezzarנְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּרkingמֶלֶךְof Babylonבָּבֶלstruckהִכָּהin the fourth yearבִּשְׁנַת הָרְבִיעִיתof Jehoiakimלִיהוֹיָקִיםsonבֶּןof Josiah,יֹאשִׁיָּהוּkingמֶלֶךְof Judah:יְהוּדָה
Set in orderעִרְכוּshieldמָגֵןand large shield,וְצִנָּהand draw nearוּגְשׁוּfor battle!לַמִּלְחָמָה
Harnessאִסְרוּthe horses,הַסּוּסִיםand mount,וַעֲלוּhorsemen!הַפָּרָשִׁיםTake your standוְהִתְיַצְּבוּin helmets!בְּכוֹבָעִיםPolishמִרְקוּthe spears!הָרְמָחִיםPut onלִבְשׁוּthe armor!הַסִּרְיֹנֹת
Whyמַדּוּעַhave I seen it?רָאִיתִיTheyהֵמָּהare dismayed,חַתִּיםturningנְסֹגִיםback,אָחוֹרand their mighty menוְגִבּוֹרֵיהֶםare beaten down,יֻכַּתּוּand they have fledוּ נָסוּin flightמָנוֹסand do notוְלֹאturn around;הִפְנוּterrorמָגוֹרon every side,מִסָּבִיבdeclaresנְאֻםYHWH.יְהוָה
Let notאַלthe swiftהַקַּלflee,יָנוּסnorוְאַלthe mighty manהַגִּבּוֹרescape!יִמָּלֵטNorthward,צָפוֹנָהby the bankעַל יַדof the riverנְהַרEuphrates,פְּרָתthey have stumbledכָּשְׁלוּand fallen.וְנָפָלוּ
Who isמִיthisזֶהthat risesיַעֲלֶהlike the Nile,כַּיְאֹרlike the riversכַּנְּהָרוֹתwhose watersמֵימָיוsurge?יִתְגָּעֲשׁוּ
Egyptמִצְרַיִםrisesיַעֲלֶהlike the Nile,כַּיְאֹרand like the riversוְכַנְּהָרוֹתthe watersמָיִםsurge;יִתְגֹּעֲשׁוּand it said,וַיֹּאמֶר“I will rise,אַעֲלֶהI will coverאֲכַסֶּהthe earth;אֶרֶץI will destroyאֹבִידָהthe cityעִירand those who dwellוְיֹשְׁבֵיin it.”בָהּ
Go up,עֲלוּhorses!הַסּוּסִיםRage,וְהִתְהֹלְלוּchariots!הָרֶכֶבAnd let the mighty menוְ הַגִּבּוֹרִיםgo out:יֵצְאוּCushכּוּשׁand Put,וּפוּטwho handleתֹּפְשֵׂיthe shield,מָגֵןand the Ludim,וְלוּדִיםwho handleתֹּפְשֵׂיand bendדֹּרְכֵיthe bow.קָשֶׁת
And that dayוְהַיּוֹם הַהוּאbelongs to AdonaiלַאדֹנָיYHWHיְהוִהTsevaot,צְבָאוֹתa dayיוֹםof vengeance,נְקָמָהto avenge himselfלְהִנָּקֵםon his adversaries;מִצָּרָיוand the swordוְ חֶרֶבwill devourאָכְלָהand be satedוְשָׂבְעָהand drink its fillוְרָוְתָהof their blood;מִדָּמָםforכִּיAdonaiאדֹנָיYHWHיְהוִהTsevaotצְבָאוֹתhasלַa sacrificeזֶבַחin the landבְּאֶרֶץof the northצָפוֹןby the riverאֶל נְהַרEuphrates.פְּרָת
Go upעֲלִיto Gileadגִלְעָדand takeוּקְחִיbalm,צֳרִיvirginבְּתוּלַתdaughterבַּתof Egypt!מִצְרָיִםIn vainלַשָּׁוְאyou have multipliedהִרְבֵּיתremedies;רְפֻאוֹתthere is noאֵיןhealingתְּעָלָהfor you.לָךְ
The nationsגוֹיִםhave heardשָׁמְעוּof your shame,קְלוֹנֵךְand your outcryוְצִוְחָתֵךְhas filledמָלְאָהthe earth;הָאָרֶץforכִּיmighty manגִבּוֹרagainst mighty manבְּגִבּוֹרhas stumbled;כָּשָׁלוּtogetherיַחְדָּיוthey have fallen,נָפְלוּboth of them.שְׁנֵיהֶם

Declare itהַגִּידוּin Egypt,בְמִצְרַיִםand proclaim itוְהַשְׁמִיעוּin Migdol,בְמִגְדּוֹלand proclaim itוְהַשְׁמִיעוּin Memphisבְנֹףand in Tahpanhes;וּבְתַחְפַּנְחֵסsay,אִמְרוּ“Take your standהִתְיַצֵּבand prepare yourself,וְהָכֵן לָךְforכִּיthe swordחֶרֶבdevoursאָכְלָהall around you.”סְבִיבֶיךָ
Whyמַדּוּעַhas your mighty oneאַבִּירֶיךָbeen swept away?נִסְחַףHe did notלֹאstand,עָמַדforכִּיYHWHיְהוָהthrust him down.הֲדָפוֹ
He made manyהִרְבָּהstumble;כּוֹשֵׁלindeed,גַּםeach oneאִישׁfellנָפַלagainst his neighbor,אֶל רֵעֵהוּand they said,וַיֹּאמְרוּ“Get up,קוּמָהand let us returnוְנָשֻׁבָהto our peopleאֶל עַמֵּנוּand to the landוְאֶל אֶרֶץof our birth,מוֹלַדְתֵּנוּfrom beforeמִפְּנֵיthe swordחֶרֶבof the oppressor.”הַיּוֹנָה
They criedקָרְאוּthere,שָׁם“Pharaohפַּרְעֹהkingמֶלֶךְof Egyptמִצְרַיִםis but a noise;שָׁאוֹןhe has let passהֶעֱבִירthe appointed time.”הַמּוֹעֵד
As I live,חַי אָנִיdeclaresנְאֻםthe King,הַמֶּלֶךְYHWHיְהוָהTsevaotצְבָאוֹתis his name:שְׁמוֹsurelyכִּיlike Taborכְּתָבוֹרamong the mountains,בֶּהָרִיםand like Carmelוּכְכַרְמֶלby the sea,בַּיָּםhe will come.יָבוֹא
Makeעֲשִׂיfor yourselfלָךְbaggageכְּלֵיfor exile,גוֹלָהyou who dwell,יוֹשֶׁבֶתdaughterבַּתof Egypt,מִצְרָיִםforכִּיMemphisנֹףwill becomeתִהְיֶהa horror,לְשַׁמָּהand will be set on fire,וְנִצְּתָהwithoutמֵאֵיןinhabitant.יוֹשֵׁב
A heiferעֶגְלָהvery beautifulיְפֵה פִיָּהis Egypt;מִצְרָיִםa gadflyקֶרֶץfrom the northמִצָּפוֹןis coming,בָּאcoming.בָא
Evenגַּםher hired soldiersשְׂכִרֶיהָin her midstבְקִרְבָּהּare like calvesכְּעֶגְלֵיfrom the stall;מַרְבֵּקforכִּיthey tooגַם הֵמָּהhave turned back,הִפְנוּthey have fledנָסוּtogether;יַחְדָּיוthey did notלֹאstand,עָמָדוּforכִּיthe dayיוֹםof their calamityאֵידָםhas comeבָּאupon them,עֲלֵיהֶםthe timeעֵתof their punishment.פְּקֻדָּתָם
Her soundקוֹלָהּis like a serpentכַּנָּחָשׁthat goes off;יֵלֵךְforכִּיwith an armyבְחַיִלthey march,יֵלֵכוּand with axesוּבְקַרְדֻּמּוֹתthey comeבָּאוּagainst her,לָהּlike woodcutters.כְּחֹטְבֵי עֵצִים
They have cut downכָּרְתוּher forest,יַעְרָהּdeclaresנְאֻםYHWH,יְהוָהthoughכִּיit cannotלֹאbe searched out;יֵחָקֵרforכִּיthey are more numerousרַבּוּthan the locust,מֵאַרְבֶּהand they haveוְ לָהֶםnoאֵיןnumber.מִסְפָּר
The daughterבַּתof Egyptמִצְרָיִםis put to shame;הֹבִישָׁהshe has been givenנִתְּנָהinto the handבְּיַדof a peopleעַםof the north.צָפוֹן
YHWHיְהוָהTsevaot,צְבָאוֹתElohimאֱלֹהֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלhas said:אָמַרLook, Iהִנְנִיam punishingפוֹקֵד אֶלAmonאָמוֹןof No,מִנֹּאand Pharaoh,וְעַל פַּרְעֹהand Egypt,וְעַל מִצְרַיִםand her gods,וְעַל אֱלֹהֶיהָand her kings,וְעַל מְלָכֶיהָand Pharaoh,וְעַל פַּרְעֹהand those who trustוְעַל הַבֹּטְחִיםin him.בּוֹ
And I will give themוּנְתַתִּיםinto the handבְּיַדof those who seekמְבַקְשֵׁיtheir life,נַפְשָׁםand into the handוּבְיַדof Nebuchadnezzarנְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּרkingמֶלֶךְof Babylonבָּבֶלand into the handוּבְיַדof his servants;עֲבָדָיוand afterwardוְאַחֲרֵי כֵןit will be inhabitedתִּשְׁכֹּןas in the daysכִּימֵיof old,קֶדֶםdeclaresנְאֻםYHWH.יְהוָה
But you,וְאַתָּהdo notאַלfear,תִּירָאmy servantעַבְדִּיJacob,יַעֲקֹבand do notוְאַלbe dismayed,תֵּחַתIsrael;יִשְׂרָאֵלforכִּיlook, Iהִנְנִיam saving youמוֹשִׁעֲךָfrom afar,מֵרָחוֹקand your offspringוְאֶת זַרְעֲךָfrom the landמֵאֶרֶץof their captivity;שִׁבְיָםand Jacobוְ יַעֲקוֹבwill return,שָׁבand be quietוְשָׁקַטand at ease,וְשַׁאֲנַןand there will be no oneוְאֵיןto make him afraid.מַחֲרִיד
You,אַתָּהdo notאַלfear,תִּירָאmy servantעַבְדִּיJacob,יַעֲקֹבdeclaresנְאֻםYHWH,יְהוָהforכִּיI amאָנִיwith you;אִתְּךָforכִּיI will makeאֶעֱשֶׂהan exterminationכָלָהamong allבְּכָלthe nationsהַגּוֹיִםto whichאֲשֶׁר שָׁמָּהI have driven you,הִדַּחְתִּיךָbut of youוְאֹתְךָI will notלֹאmakeאֶעֱשֶׂהan extermination,כָלָהand I will correct youוְיִסַּרְתִּיךָwith judgment,לַמִּשְׁפָּטand I will by no meansוְנַקֵּה לֹאleave you unpunished.אֲנַקֶּךָּ
