“Becauseיַעַן אֲשֶׁרI raised you upהֲרִימֹתִיךָfromמִןthe dustהֶעָפָרand made youוָאֶתֶּנְךָleaderנָגִידoverעַלmy peopleעַמִּיIsrael,יִשְׂרָאֵלbut you have walkedוַתֵּלֶךְin the wayבְּדֶרֶךְof Jeroboamיָרָבְעָםand have made my people Israel sin,וַתַּחֲטִא עַמִּי יִשְׂרָאֵלprovoking me to angerלְהַכְעִיסֵנִיwith their sins,בְּחַטֹּאתָם
look,הִנְנִיI am sweeping awayמַבְעִירafterאַחֲרֵיBaashaבַעְשָׁאandוְafterאַחֲרֵיhis house,בֵיתוֹand I will makeוְנָתַתִּיyour houseבֵּיתְךָlike the houseכְּבֵיתof Jeroboamיָרָבְעָםsonבֶּןof Nebat.נְבָט
Whoeverהַof Baasha’s houseלְבַעְשָׁאdiesמֵּתin the city,בָּעִירthe dogsהַכְּלָבִיםwill eat;יֹאכְלוּand whoeverוְהַof hisלוֹdiesמֵּתin the field,בַּשָּׂדֶהthe birdsעוֹףof the skyהַשָּׁמָיִםwill eat.”יֹאכְלוּ

Baashaבַּעְשָׁאlay downוַיִּשְׁכַּבwithעִםhis fathersאֲבֹתָיוand was buriedוַיִּקָּבֵרin Tirzah;בְּתִרְצָהand Elahוַ אֵלָהhis sonבְנוֹreignedיִּמְלֹךְin his place.תַּחְתָּיו
Also,וְגַםthroughבְּיַדJehuיֵהוּאsonבֶןof Hananiחֲנָנִיthe prophet,הַנָּבִיאthe wordדְּבַרof YHWHיְהוָהcameהָיָהtoאֶלBaashaבַּעְשָׁאand toוְאֶלhis house,בֵּיתוֹbecause ofוְעַלallכָּלthe evilהָרָעָהthatאֲשֶׁרhe didעָשָׂהin the eyesבְּעֵינֵיof YHWH,יְהוָהprovoking him to angerלְהַכְעִיסוֹwith the workבְּמַעֲשֵׂהof his hands,יָדָיוbecomingלִהְיוֹתlike the houseכְּבֵיתof Jeroboam,יָרָבְעָםand becauseוְעַל אֲשֶׁרhe struckהִכָּהhim.אֹתוֹ
In yearבִּשְׁנַת שָׁנָהtwentyעֶשְׂרִיםand sixוָשֵׁשׁof Asaלְאָסָאkingמֶלֶךְof Judah,יְהוּדָהElahאֵלָהsonבֶןof Baashaבַּעְשָׁאbegan to reignמָלַךְoverעַלIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלin Tirzah,בְּתִרְצָהand he reignedtwo years.שְׁנָתָיִם
His servantעַבְדּוֹZimri,זִמְרִיcommanderשַׂרof halfמַחֲצִיתthe chariots,הָרָכֶבconspiredוַיִּקְשֹׁרagainst him.עָלָיוHeוְהוּאwas in Tirzah,בְתִרְצָהdrinkingשֹׁתֶהand drunkשִׁכּוֹרin the houseבֵּיתof Arza,אַרְצָאwhoאֲשֶׁרwas overעַלthe householdהַבַּיִתin Tirzah;בְּתִרְצָה
and Zimriוַ זִמְרִיcame inיָּבֹאand struck himוַיַּכֵּהוּand put him to death,וַיְמִיתֵהוּin yearבִּשְׁנַתtwentyעֶשְׂרִיםand sevenוָשֶׁבַעof Asaלְאָסָאkingמֶלֶךְof Judah,יְהוּדָהand reignedוַיִּמְלֹךְin his place.תַּחְתָּיו
And it happened,וַיְהִיwhen he began to reign,בְמָלְכוֹas soon as he satכְּשִׁבְתּוֹonעַלhis throne,כִּסְאוֹthat he struck downהִכָּהallכָּלthe houseבֵּיתof Baasha;בַּעְשָׁאhe did notלֹאleaveהִשְׁאִירhimלוֹone who urinatesמַשְׁתִּיןagainst the wall,בְּקִירneitherוְhis kinsmen-redeemersגֹאֲלָיוnorוְhis friend.רֵעֵהוּ
Zimriזִמְרִיdestroyedוַיַּשְׁמֵדallכָּלthe houseבֵּיתof Baasha,בַּעְשָׁאaccording to the wordכִּדְבַרof YHWHיְהוָהthatאֲשֶׁרhe spokeדִּבֶּרtoאֶלBaashaבַּעְשָׁאthroughבְּיַדJehuיֵהוּאthe prophet,הַנָּבִיא
because ofאֶלallכָּלthe sinsחַטֹּאותof Baashaבַּעְשָׁאand the sinsוְחַטֹּאותof Elahאֵלָהhis son,בְנוֹwhichאֲשֶׁרthey sinnedחָטְאוּand with whichוַאֲשֶׁרthey made Israel sin,הֶחֱטִיאוּ יִשְׂרָאֵלprovoking to angerלְהַכְעִיסYHWH,יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלwith their worthless idols.בְּהַבְלֵיהֶם

In yearבִּשְׁנַת שָׁנָהtwentyעֶשְׂרִיםand sevenוָשֶׁבַעof Asaלְאָסָאkingמֶלֶךְof Judah,יְהוּדָהZimriזִמְרִיreignedמָלַךְsevenשִׁבְעַתdaysיָמִיםin Tirzah.בְּתִרְצָהNow the peopleוְהָעָםwere encampedחֹנִיםagainstעַלGibbethon,גִּבְּתוֹןwhichאֲשֶׁרbelonged to the Philistines.לַפְּלִשְׁתִּים
The peopleהָעָםwho were encampedהַחֹנִיםheard it said,וַיִּשְׁמַע לֵאמֹר“Zimriזִמְרִיhas conspired,קָשַׁרand has alsoוְגַםstruck downהִכָּהthe king.”הַמֶּלֶךְSo allוַ כָלIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלmade king overיַּמְלִכוּ עַלIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלOmri,עָמְרִיthe commanderשַׂרof the army,צָבָאthatהַהוּאdayבַּיּוֹםin the camp.בַּמַּחֲנֶה
Omriעָמְרִיwent upוַיַּעֲלֶהfrom Gibbethon,מִגִּבְּתוֹןand allוְכָלIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלwith him,עִמּוֹand they besiegedוַיָּצֻרוּ עַלTirzah.תִּרְצָה
And it happened,וַיְהִיwhen Zimriכִּ זִמְרִיsawרְאוֹתthatכִּיthe cityהָעִירwas taken,נִלְכְּדָהthat he wentוַיָּבֹאintoאֶלthe citadelאַרְמוֹןof the king’sהַמֶּלֶךְhouseבֵּיתand burnedוַיִּשְׂרֹףthe king’sמֶלֶךְhouseאֶת בֵּיתover himעָלָיוwith fire,בָּאֵשׁand died,וַיָּמֹת
because ofעַלhis sinsחַטֹּאתָיוthatאֲשֶׁרhe sinned,חָטָאdoingלַעֲשׂוֹתwhat was evilהָרַעin the eyesבְּעֵינֵיof YHWH,יְהוָהwalkingלָלֶכֶתin the wayבְּדֶרֶךְof Jeroboamיָרָבְעָםand in his sinוּבְחַטָּאתוֹthatאֲשֶׁרhe committed,עָשָׂהmaking Israel sin.לְהַחֲטִיא יִשְׂרָאֵל

Thenאָזthe peopleהָעָםof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלwere dividedיֵחָלֵקinto halves:לַחֵצִיhalfחֲצִיof the peopleהָעָםfollowedהָיָה אַחֲרֵיTibniתִבְנִיsonבֶןof Ginath,גִּינַתto make him king,לְהַמְלִיכוֹand the other halfוְהַחֲצִיfollowedאַחֲרֵיOmri.עָמְרִי
But the peopleוַ הָעָםwhoאֲשֶׁרfollowedאַחֲרֵיOmriעָמְרִיprevailed overיֶּחֱזַקthe peopleהָעָםwhoאֲשֶׁרfollowedאַחֲרֵיTibniתִּבְנִיsonבֶןof Ginath;גִּינַתand Tibniוַ תִּבְנִיdied,יָּמָתand Omriוַ עָמְרִיreigned.יִּמְלֹךְ
In yearבִּשְׁנַת שָׁנָהthirtyשְׁלֹשִׁיםand oneוְאַחַתof Asaלְאָסָאkingמֶלֶךְof Judah,יְהוּדָהOmriעָמְרִיbegan to reignמָלַךְoverעַלIsrael,יִשְׂרָאֵלand he reignedtwelveשְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵהyears;שָׁנָהin Tirzahבְּתִרְצָהhe reignedמָלַךְsixשֵׁשׁyears.שָׁנִים
He boughtוַיִּקֶןthe hillהָהָרof SamariaשֹׁמְרוֹןfromמֵאֶתShemerשֶׁמֶרfor two talentsבְּכִכְּרַיִםof silver,כָּסֶףand he builtוַיִּבֶןon the hill;הָהָרand he calledוַיִּקְרָאthe nameשֵׁםof the cityהָעִירthatאֲשֶׁרhe builtבָּנָהafterעַלthe nameשֶׁםof Shemer,שֶׁמֶרthe ownerאֲדֹנֵיof the hill,הָהָרSamaria.שֹׁמְרוֹן

He walkedוַיֵּלֶךְin allבְּכָלthe wayדֶּרֶךְof Jeroboamיָרָבְעָםsonבֶּןof Nebat,נְבָטand in his sin,וּבְחַטָּאתוֹwith whichאֲשֶׁרhe made Israel sin,הֶחֱטִיא יִשְׂרָאֵלprovoking to angerלְהַכְעִיסYHWH,יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלwith their worthless idols.בְּהַבְלֵיהֶם

Ahabאַחְאָבsonבֶּןof Omriעָמְרִיdidוַיַּעַשׂwhat was evilהָרַעin the eyesבְּעֵינֵיof YHWHיְהוָהmore than allמִכֹּלwhoאֲשֶׁרwere before him.לְפָנָיו
And it happened,וַיְהִיas if it were a light thingהֲנָקֵלfor him to walkלֶכְתּוֹin the sinsבְּחַטֹּאותof Jeroboamיָרָבְעָםsonבֶּןof Nebat,נְבָטthat he tookוַיִּקַּחas wifeאִשָּׁהJezebelאִיזֶבֶלdaughterבַּתof Ethbaalאֶתְבַּעַלkingמֶלֶךְof the Sidonians,צִידֹנִיםand wentוַיֵּלֶךְand servedוַיַּעֲבֹדBaalהַבַּעַלand bowed downוַיִּשְׁתַּחוּto him.לוֹ
He set upוַיָּקֶםan altarמִזְבֵּחַfor Baalלַבָּעַלin the houseבֵּיתof Baalהַבַּעַלthatאֲשֶׁרhe builtבָּנָהin Samaria.בְּשֹׁמְרוֹן
Ahabאַחְאָבalso madeוַיַּעַשׂthe Asherah;הָאֲשֵׁרָהand Ahabוַ אַחְאָבdid still moreיּוֹסֶף לַעֲשׂוֹתto provoke to angerלְהַכְעִיסYHWH,יְהֹוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלthan allמִכֹּלthe kingsמַלְכֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלwhoאֲשֶׁרwereהָיוּbefore him.לְפָנָיו
In his daysבְּיָמָיוHielחִיאֵלof Bethelבֵּית הָאֱלִיbuiltבָּנָהJericho.יְרִיחֹהAt the cost of Abiramבַּאֲבִירָםhis firstbornבְּכֹרוֹhe laid its foundation,יִסְּדָהּand at the cost of Segubוּבִשְׂגוּבhis youngestצְעִירוֹhe set upהִצִּיבits gates,דְּלָתֶיהָaccording to the wordכִּדְבַרof YHWHיְהוָהthatאֲשֶׁרhe spokeדִּבֶּרthroughבְּיַדJoshuaיְהוֹשֻׁעַsonבִּןof Nun.נוּן
