He didוַיַּעַשׂwhat was evilהָרַעin the eyesבְּעֵינֵיof YHWH,יְהוָהand walkedוַיֵּלֶךְafterאַחַרthe sinsחַטֹּאתof Jeroboamיָרָבְעָםsonבֶּןof Nebat,נְבָטby whichאֲשֶׁרhe made Israel sin;הֶחֱטִיא אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵלhe did notלֹאturn awayסָרfrom it.מִמֶּנָּה
The angerאַףof YHWHיְהוָהburnedוַיִּחַרagainst Israel,בְּיִשְׂרָאֵלand he gave themוַיִּתְּנֵםinto the handבְּיַדof Hazaelחֲזָאֵלkingמֶלֶךְof Aramאֲרָםand into the handוּבְיַדof Ben-hadadבֶּן הֲדַדsonבֶּןof Hazael,חֲזָאֵלallכָּלthe days.הַיָּמִים
Jehoahazיְהוֹאָחָזpleadedוַיְחַלbeforeאֶת פְּנֵיYHWH,יְהוָהand YHWHוַ יְהוָהlistenedיִּשְׁמַעto him,אֵלָיוforכִּיhe sawרָאָהthe oppressionאֶת לַחַץof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלbecauseכִּיthe kingמֶלֶךְof Aramאֲרָםoppressed them.לָחַץ אֹתָם
YHWHיְהוָהgaveוַיִּתֵּןIsraelלְיִשְׂרָאֵלa savior,מוֹשִׁיעַand they went outוַיֵּצְאוּfrom underמִתַּחַתthe handיַדof Aram;אֲרָםand the sonsוַ בְנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלlivedיֵּשְׁבוּin their tentsבְּאָהֳלֵיהֶםas before.כִּתְמוֹל שִׁלְשׁוֹם
Neverthelessאַךְthey did notלֹאturn awayסָרוּfrom the sinsמֵחַטֹּאותof the houseבֵּיתof Jeroboam,יָרָבְעָםby whichאֲשֶׁרhe made Israel sin;הֶחֱטִיא אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵלin itבָּהּhe walked;הָלָךְand alsoוְגַםthe Asherahהָאֲשֵׁרָהremained standingעָמְדָהin Samaria.בְּשֹׁמְרוֹן
Forכִּיhe had notלֹאleftהִשְׁאִירJehoahazלִיהוֹאָחָזany peopleעָםexceptכִּי אִםfiftyחֲמִשִּׁיםhorsemen,פָּרָשִׁיםtenוַעֲשָׂרָהchariots,רֶכֶבand tenוַעֲשֶׂרֶתthousandאֲלָפִיםfoot soldiers,רַגְלִיforכִּיthe kingמֶלֶךְof Aramאֲרָםhad made them perishאִבְּדָםand made themוַיְשִׂמֵםlike the dustכֶּעָפָרat threshing.לָדֻשׁ

Joashיוֹאָשׁlay downוַיִּשְׁכַּבwith his fathers,עִם אֲבֹתָיוand Jeroboamוְיָרָבְעָםsatיָשַׁבon his throne;עַל כִּסְאוֹand Joashוַ יוֹאָשׁwas buriedיִּקָּבֵרin Samariaבְּשֹׁמְרוֹןwith the kingsעִם מַלְכֵיof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
Now Elishaוֶאֱלִישָׁעfell sickחָלָהwith the sicknessאֶת חָלְיוֹof whichאֲשֶׁר בּוֹhe would die,יָמוּתand Joashיוֹאָשׁkingמֶלֶךְof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלwent downוַיֵּרֶדto himאֵלָיוand weptוַיֵּבְךְּover his faceעַל פָּנָיוand said,וַיֹּאמַר“My father,אָבִיmy father,אָבִיthe chariotרֶכֶבof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלand its horsemen!”וּפָרָשָׁיו
Elishaאֱלִישָׁעsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto him,לוֹ“Takeקַחa bowקֶשֶׁתand arrows.”וְחִצִּיםSo he tookוַיִּקַּחfor himselfאֵלָיוa bowקֶשֶׁתand arrows.וְחִצִּים
He saidוַיֹּאמֶרto the kingלְמֶלֶךְof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵל“Putהַרְכֵּבyour handיָדְךָon the bow.”עַל הַקֶּשֶׁתAnd he putוַיַּרְכֵּבhis hand on it,יָדוֹand Elishaוַ אֱלִישָׁעputיָּשֶׂםhis handsיָדָיוon the handsעַל יְדֵיof the king.הַמֶּלֶךְ
He said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Openפְּתַחthe windowהַחַלּוֹןtoward the east.”קֵדְמָהAnd he opened it.וַיִּפְתָּחElishaאֱלִישָׁעsaid,וַיֹּאמֶר“Shoot.”יְרֵהAnd he shot.וַיּוֹרHe said,וַיֹּאמֶר“An arrowחֵץof victoryתְּשׁוּעָהof YHWH,לַיהוָהand an arrowוְחֵץof victoryתְּשׁוּעָהagainst Aram!בַאֲרָםYou will strikeוְהִכִּיתָAramאֶת אֲרָםat Aphekבַּאֲפֵקuntilעַדyou have finished it.”כַּלֵּה
He said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Takeקַחthe arrows.”הַחִצִּיםAnd he took them.וַיִּקָּחHe saidוַיֹּאמֶרto the kingלְמֶלֶךְof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵל“Strikeהַךְtoward the ground.”אַרְצָהAnd he struckוַיַּךְthreeשָׁלֹשׁtimesפְּעָמִיםand stopped.וַיַּעֲמֹד
The manאִישׁof Elohimהָאֱלֹהִיםwas angryוַיִּקְצֹףwith himעָלָיוand said,וַיֹּאמֶר“You should have struckלְהַכּוֹתfiveחָמֵשׁorאוֹsixשֵׁשׁtimes!פְּעָמִיםThenאָזyou would have struckהִכִּיתָAramאֶת אֲרָםuntilעַדyou had finished it;כַּלֵּהbut nowוְעַתָּהthreeשָׁלֹשׁtimesפְּעָמִיםyou will strikeתַּכֶּהAram.”אֶת אֲרָם
Elishaאֱלִישָׁעdied,וַיָּמָתand they buried him.וַיִּקְבְּרֻהוּNow bandsוּגְדוּדֵיof Moabמוֹאָבused to comeיָבֹאוּinto the landבָאָרֶץat the comingבָּאof the year.שָׁנָה
And it happened,וַיְהִיas theyהֵםwere buryingקֹבְרִיםa man,אִישׁthat, look,וְהִנֵּהthey sawרָאוּthe band;אֶת הַגְּדוּדand they threwוַיַּשְׁלִיכוּthe manאֶת הָאִישׁinto the tombבְּקֶבֶרof Elisha.אֱלִישָׁעAnd the manוַ הָאִישׁwent downיֵּלֶךְand touchedוַיִּגַּעthe bonesבְּעַצְמוֹתof Elisha,אֱלִישָׁעand he came to lifeוַיְחִיand stood upוַיָּקָםon his feet.עַל רַגְלָיו
Hazaelוַחֲזָאֵלkingמֶלֶךְof AramאֲרָםoppressedלָחַץIsraelאֶת יִשְׂרָאֵלallכֹּלthe daysיְמֵיof Jehoahaz.יְהוֹאָחָז
But YHWHוַ יְהוָהshowed favorיָּחָןto themאֹתָםand had mercy on themוַיְרַחֲמֵםand turnedוַיִּפֶןtoward themאֲלֵיהֶםbecause ofלְמַעַןhis covenantבְּרִיתוֹwith Abraham,אֶת אַבְרָהָםIsaac,יִצְחָקand Jacob,וְיַעֲקֹבand he was notוְלֹאwillingאָבָהto destroy them,הַשְׁחִיתָםand he did notוְלֹאcast themהִשְׁלִיכָםfrom beforeמֵעַלhis faceפָּנָיוuntilעַדnow.עָתָּה
Hazaelחֲזָאֵלkingמֶלֶךְof Aramאֲרָםdied,וַיָּמָתand Ben-hadadוַ בֶּן הֲדַדhis sonבְּנוֹreignedיִּמְלֹךְin his place.תַּחְתָּיו
Then Joashוַ יְהוֹאָשׁsonבֶּןof Jehoahazיְהוֹאָחָזagain tookיָּשָׁב וַיִּקַּחthe citiesאֶת הֶעָרִיםfrom the handמִיַּדof Ben-hadadבֶּן הֲדַדsonבֶּןof Hazaelחֲזָאֵלthatאֲשֶׁרhe had takenלָקַחfrom the handמִיַּדof Jehoahazיְהוֹאָחָזhis fatherאָבִיוin war.בַּמִּלְחָמָהThreeשָׁלֹשׁtimesפְּעָמִיםJoashיוֹאָשׁstruck him,הִכָּהוּand he brought backוַיָּשֶׁבthe citiesאֶת עָרֵיof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
