The wordsדִּבְרֵיof Amos,עָמוֹסwhoאֲשֶׁרwasהָיָהamong the sheep breedersבַנֹּקְדִיםfrom Tekoa,מִתְּקוֹעַwhichאֲשֶׁרhe sawחָזָהconcerningעַלIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלin the daysבִּימֵיof Uzziah,עֻזִיָּהkingמֶלֶךְof Judah,יְהוּדָהand in the daysוּבִימֵיof Jeroboamיָרָבְעָםsonבֶּןof Joash,יוֹאָשׁkingמֶלֶךְof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלtwo yearsשְׁנָתַיִםbeforeלִפְנֵיthe earthquake.הָרָעַשׁ
And he said,וַיֹּאמַר“YHWHיְהוָהroarsיִשְׁאָגfrom Zion,מִצִיּוֹןand from Jerusalemוּמִירוּשָׁלִַםuttersיִתֵּןhis voice;קוֹלוֹand the pasturesוְ נְאוֹתof the shepherdsהָרֹעִיםmourn,אָבְלוּand the topוְ רֹאשׁof Carmelהַכַּרְמֶלdries up.”יָבֵשׁ
ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWH:יְהוָהForעַלthreeשְׁלֹשָׁהtransgressionsפִּשְׁעֵיof Damascus,דַמֶּשֶׂקand forוְעַלfour,אַרְבָּעָהI will notלֹאrevoke it;אֲשִׁיבֶנּוּbecauseעַלthey threshedדּוּשָׁםGileadהַגִּלְעָדwith threshing sledgesבַּחֲרֻצוֹתof iron.הַבַּרְזֶל
And I will sendוְשִׁלַּחְתִּיfireאֵשׁon the houseבְּבֵיתof Hazael,חֲזָאֵלand it will devourוְאָכְלָהthe citadelsאַרְמְנוֹתof Ben-hadad.בֶּן הֲדָד
And I will breakוְשָׁבַרְתִּיthe barבְּרִיחַof Damascus,דַּמֶּשֶׂקand cut offוְהִכְרַתִּיthe inhabitantיוֹשֵׁבfrom the valleyמִבִּקְעַתof Aven,אָוֶןand the one who holdsוְתוֹמֵךְthe scepterשֵׁבֶטfrom Beth-eden;מִבֵּית עֶדֶןand the peopleוְ עַםof Aramאֲרָםwill go into exileגָלוּto Kir,קִירָהsaysאָמַרYHWH.יְהוָה
ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWH:יְהוָהForעַלthreeשְׁלֹשָׁהtransgressionsפִּשְׁעֵיof Gaza,עַזָּהand forוְעַלfour,אַרְבָּעָהI will notלֹאrevoke it;אֲשִׁיבֶנּוּbecauseעַלthey carried into exileהַגְלוֹתָםa wholeשְׁלֵמָהcaptive peopleגָּלוּתto hand them overלְהַסְגִּירto Edom.לֶאֱדוֹם
And I will sendוְשִׁלַּחְתִּיfireאֵשׁon the wallבְּחוֹמַתof Gaza,עַזָּהand it will devourוְאָכְלָהher citadels.אַרְמְנֹתֶיהָ
And I will cut offוְהִכְרַתִּיthe inhabitantיוֹשֵׁבfrom Ashdod,מֵאַשְׁדּוֹדand the one who holdsוְתוֹמֵךְthe scepterשֵׁבֶטfrom Ashkelon;מֵאַשְׁקְלוֹןand I will turnוַהֲשִׁיבוֹתִיmy handיָדִיagainstעַלEkron,עֶקְרוֹןand the remnantוְ שְׁאֵרִיתof the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּיםwill perish,אָבְדוּsaysאָמַרAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH.יְהוִה
ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWH:יְהוָהForעַלthreeשְׁלֹשָׁהtransgressionsפִּשְׁעֵיof Tyre,צֹרand forוְעַלfour,אַרְבָּעָהI will notלֹאrevoke it;אֲשִׁיבֶנּוּbecauseעַלthey handed overהַסְגִּירָםa wholeשְׁלֵמָהcaptive peopleגָּלוּתto Edom,לֶאֱדוֹםand did notוְלֹאrememberזָכְרוּthe covenantבְּרִיתof brothers.אַחִים
And I will sendוְשִׁלַּחְתִּיfireאֵשׁon the wallבְּחוֹמַתof Tyre,צֹרand it will devourוְאָכְלָהher citadels.אַרְמְנֹתֶיהָ
ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWH:יְהוָהForעַלthreeשְׁלֹשָׁהtransgressionsפִּשְׁעֵיof Edom,אֱדוֹםand forוְעַלfour,אַרְבָּעָהI will notלֹאrevoke it;אֲשִׁיבֶנּוּbecauseעַלhe pursuedרָדְפוֹhis brotherאָחִיוwith the sword,בַחֶרֶבand destroyedוְשִׁחֵתhis compassion;רַחֲמָיוand his angerאַפּוֹtoreוַיִּטְרֹףcontinually,לָעַדand his wrathוְעֶבְרָתוֹhe keptשְׁמָרָהforever.נֶצַח
And I will sendוְשִׁלַּחְתִּיfireאֵשׁon Teman,בְּתֵימָןand it will devourוְאָכְלָהthe citadelsאַרְמְנוֹתof Bozrah.בָּצְרָה
ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWH:יְהוָהForעַלthreeשְׁלֹשָׁהtransgressionsפִּשְׁעֵיof the childrenבְנֵיof Ammon,עַמּוֹןand forוְעַלfour,אַרְבָּעָהI will notלֹאrevoke it;אֲשִׁיבֶנּוּbecauseעַלthey ripped openבִּקְעָםthe pregnant womenהָרוֹתof Gilead,הַגִּלְעָדin orderלְמַעַןto enlargeהַרְחִיבtheir territory.גְּבוּלָם
And I will kindleוְהִצַּתִּיfireאֵשׁon the wallבְּחוֹמַתof Rabbah,רַבָּהand it will devourוְאָכְלָהher citadels,אַרְמְנוֹתֶיהָwith a war cryבִּתְרוּעָהon the dayבְּיוֹםof battle,מִלְחָמָהwith a tempestבְּסַעַרon the dayבְּיוֹםof the whirlwind.סוּפָה
And their kingוְ מַלְכָּםwill goהָלַךְinto exile,בַּגּוֹלָהheהוּאand his princesוְשָׂרָיוtogether,יַחְדָּוsaysאָמַרYHWH.יְהוָה
