He said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Iאָנֹכִיam El,הָאֵלthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof your father.אָבִיךָDo notאַלbe afraidתִּירָאto go downמֵרְדָהto Egypt,מִצְרַיְמָהforכִּיI will make youאֲשִׂימְךָa greatגָּדוֹלnationלְגוֹיthere.שָׁם
Iאָנֹכִיwill go downאֵרֵדwith youעִמְּךָto Egypt,מִצְרַיְמָהand Iוְאָנֹכִיwill alsoגַםsurely bring you up;אַעַלְךָ עָלֹהand Josephוְיוֹסֵףwill putיָשִׁיתhis handיָדוֹonעַלyour eyes.”עֵינֶיךָ
Then Jacobוַ יַעֲקֹבset outיָּקָםfrom Beersheba,מִבְּאֵר שָׁבַעand the sonsוַ בְנֵיof IsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלcarriedיִּשְׂאוּJacobאֶת יַעֲקֹבtheir fatherאֲבִיהֶםand their little onesוְאֶת טַפָּםand their wivesוְאֶת נְשֵׁיהֶםin the cartsבָּעֲגָלוֹתthatאֲשֶׁרPharaohפַּרְעֹהhad sentשָׁלַחto carryלָשֵׂאתhim.אֹתוֹ
They tookוַיִּקְחוּtheir livestockאֶת מִקְנֵיהֶםand their goodsוְאֶת רְכוּשָׁםthatאֲשֶׁרthey had acquiredרָכְשׁוּin the landבְּאֶרֶץof Canaan,כְּנַעַןand cameוַיָּבֹאוּto Egypt,מִצְרָיְמָהJacobיַעֲקֹבand allוְכָלhis offspringזַרְעוֹwith him;אִתּוֹ

you shall say,וַאֲמַרְתֶּם‘Your servantsעֲבָדֶיךָhave beenהָיוּmen of livestockאַנְשֵׁי מִקְנֶהfrom our youthמִנְּעוּרֵינוּuntilוְעַדnow,עַתָּהbothגַּםweאֲנַחְנוּandגַּםour fathers,’אֲבֹתֵינוּso thatבַּעֲבוּרyou may liveתֵּשְׁבוּin the landבְּאֶרֶץof Goshen;גֹּשֶׁןforכִּיeveryכָּלshepherdרֹעֵהof flocksצֹאןis an abominationתוֹעֲבַתto the Egyptians.”מִצְרַיִם
