AndδὲJesusἸησοῦςwent upἀνῆλθενontoεἰςthe mountain,τὸ ὄροςandκαὶthereἐκεῖhe sat downἐκάθητοwithμετὰhis disciples.τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ
Nowδὲthe Passover,τὸ πάσχαthe feastἡ ἑορτὴof the Jews,τῶν Ἰουδαίωνwasἦνnear.ἐγγὺς
Soοὖνwhen Jesusὁ Ἰησοῦςlifted upἐπάραςhis eyesτοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺςandκαὶsawθεασάμενοςthatὅτιa largeπολὺςcrowdὄχλοςwas comingἔρχεταιtowardπρὸςhim,αὐτὸνhe saysλέγειtoπρὸςPhilip,Φίλιππον“WhereΠόθενare we to buyἀγοράσωμενbreadἄρτουςso thatἵναthese peopleοὗτοιmay eat?”φάγωσιν
Butδὲhe was sayingἔλεγενthisτοῦτοto testπειράζωνhim,αὐτόνforγὰρhe himselfαὐτὸςknewᾔδειwhatτίhe was goingἔμελλενto do.ποιεῖν
PhilipΦίλιπποςansweredἀπεκρίθηhim,αὐτῷ“Two hundredΔιακοσίωνdenarii’ worthδηναρίωνof breadἄρτοιis notοὐκenoughἀρκοῦσινfor them,αὐτοῖςforἵναeachἕκαστοςto getλάβῃa little.”βραχύ τι
Oneεἷςofἐκhis disciples,τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦAndrew,Ἀνδρέαςthe brotherὁ ἀδελφὸςof Simon Peter,Σίμωνος Πέτρουsaysλέγειto him,αὐτῷ
“There isἜστινa boyπαιδάριονhereὧδεwhoὃςhasἔχειfiveπέντεbarleyκριθίνουςloavesἄρτουςandκαὶtwoδύοfish;ὀψάριαbutἀλλὰwhatτίareἐστινtheseταῦταforεἰςso many?”τοσούτους
Jesusὁ Ἰησοῦςsaid,εἶπεν“HaveΠοιήσατεthe peopleτοὺς ἀνθρώπουςsit down.”ἀναπεσεῖνNowδὲthere wasἦνmuchπολὺςgrassχόρτοςinἐνthe place.τῷ τόπῳSoοὖνthe menοἱ ἄνδρεςsat down,ἀνέπεσανaboutὡςfive thousandπεντακισχίλιοιin number.τὸν ἀριθμὸν
SoοὖνJesusὁ Ἰησοῦςtookἔλαβενthe loaves,τοὺς ἄρτουςandκαὶhaving given thanks,εὐχαριστήσαςhe distributed themδιέδωκενto those who were reclining;τοῖς ἀνακειμένοιςlikewiseὁμοίωςalsoκαὶofἐκthe fish,τῶν ὀψαρίωνas much asὅσονthey wanted.ἤθελον
Andδὲwhenὡςthey were filled,ἐνεπλήσθησανhe saysλέγειto his disciples,τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ“Gather upΣυναγάγετεthe piecesτὰ κλάσματαleft over,περισσεύσανταso thatἵναnothingμή τιmay be lost.”ἀπόληται
Soοὖνthey gathered them upσυνήγαγονandκαὶfilledἐγέμισανtwelveδώδεκαbasketsκοφίνουςwith piecesκλασμάτωνfromἐκthe fiveτῶν πέντεbarleyτῶν κριθίνωνloavesἄρτωνthatἃwere left overἐπερίσσευσανby those who had eaten.τοῖς βεβρωκόσιν
Soοὖνwhen the peopleοἱ ἄνθρωποιsawἰδόντεςthe signσημεῖονthatὃhe had done,ἐποίησενthey were saying,ἔλεγον“ThisΟὗτόςisἐστινtrulyἀληθῶςthe Prophetὁ προφήτηςwhoὁis comingἐρχόμενοςintoεἰςthe world!”τὸν κόσμον
SoοὖνJesus,Ἰησοῦςknowingγνοὺςthatὅτιthey were aboutμέλλουσινto comeἔρχεσθαιandκαὶseizeἁρπάζεινhimαὐτὸνtoἵναmake himποιήσωσινking,βασιλέαwithdrewἀνεχώρησενagainπάλινtoεἰςthe mountainτὸ ὄροςby himselfαὐτὸςalone.μόνος
WhenὩς δὲeveningὀψίαcame,ἐγένετοhis disciplesοἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦwent downκατέβησανtoἐπὶthe sea,τὴν θάλασσαν
andκαὶgettingἐμβάντεςintoεἰςa boat,πλοῖονthey were crossingἤρχοντοthe seaπέραν τῆς θαλάσσηςtoεἰςCapernaum.ΚαφαρναούμAndκαὶit hadἐγεγόνειalreadyἤδηbecome dark,σκοτίαandκαὶJesusὁ Ἰησοῦςhad not yetοὔπωcomeἐληλύθειtoπρὸςthem.αὐτοὺς
Andἥ τεthe seaθάλασσαwas growing roughδιεγείρετοbecause a strongμεγάλουwindἀνέμουwas blowing.πνέοντος
Soοὖνwhen they had rowedἐληλακότεςaboutὡςtwenty-fiveεἴκοσι πέντεorἢthirtyτριάκονταstadia,σταδίουςthey seeθεωροῦσινJesusτὸν Ἰησοῦνwalkingπεριπατοῦνταonἐπὶthe seaτῆς θαλάσσηςandκαὶcomingγινόμενονnearἐγγὺςthe boat,τοῦ πλοίουandκαὶthey were afraid.ἐφοβήθησαν
Butδὲheὁsaysλέγειto them,αὐτοῖς“IἘγώam he;εἰμιdo notμὴbe afraid.”φοβεῖσθε
Soοὖνthey were willingἤθελονto takeλαβεῖνhimαὐτὸνintoεἰςthe boat,τὸ πλοῖονandκαὶat onceεὐθέωςthe boatτὸ πλοῖονwasἐγένετοatἐπὶthe landτῆς γῆςtoεἰςwhichἣνthey were going.ὑπῆγον
The next dayΤῇ ἐπαύριονthe crowdὁ ὄχλοςthatὁhad stayedἑστηκὼςon the other sideπέρανof the seaτῆς θαλάσσηςsawεἶδονthatὅτιthere had beenἦνnoοὐκotherἄλλοboatπλοιάριονthereἐκεῖexceptεἰ μὴone,ἕνandκαὶthatὅτιJesusὁ Ἰησοῦςhad notοὐgone inσυνεισῆλθενwithτοῖςhis disciplesμαθηταῖς αὐτοῦintoεἰςthe boat,τὸ πλοῖονbutἀλλὰhis disciplesοἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦhad gone awayἀπῆλθονalone.μόνοι
However,ἀλλὰboatsπλοιάριαcameἦλθενfromἐκTiberiasΤιβεριάδοςnearἐγγὺςthe placeτοῦ τόπουwhereὅπουthey had eatenἔφαγονthe breadτὸν ἄρτονafter the Lordτοῦ κυρίουhad given thanks.εὐχαριστήσαντος
Soοὖνwhenὅτεthe crowdὁ ὄχλοςsawεἶδενthatὅτιJesusἸησοῦςwas notοὐκ ἔστινthere,ἐκεῖnorοὐδὲhis disciples,οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦthey themselvesαὐτοὶgotἐνέβησανintoεἰςthe boatsτὰ πλοιάριαandκαὶcameἦλθονtoεἰςCapernaum,Καφαρναοὺμlooking forζητοῦντεςJesus.τὸν Ἰησοῦν
AndΚαὶwhen they foundεὑρόντεςhimαὐτὸνon the other sideπέρανof the sea,τῆς θαλάσσηςthey saidεἶπονto him,αὐτῷ“Rabbi,Ῥαββίwhenπότεdid you getγέγοναςhere?”ὧδε
Jesusὁ Ἰησοῦςansweredἀπεκρίθηthemαὐτοῖςandκαὶsaid,εἶπεν“Truly,Ἀμὴνtruly,ἀμὴνI tellλέγωyou,ὑμῖνyou are looking forζητεῖτέme,μεnotοὐχbecauseὅτιyou sawεἴδετεsigns,σημεῖαbutἀλλ’becauseὅτιyou ateἐφάγετεofἐκthe loavesτῶν ἄρτωνandκαὶwere filled.ἐχορτάσθητε
Do notμὴworkἐργάζεσθεfor the foodτὴν βρῶσινthatτὴνperishes,ἀπολλυμένηνbutἀλλὰfor the foodτὴν βρῶσινthatτὴνremainsμένουσανtoεἰςeternalαἰώνιονlife,ζωὴνwhichἣνthe Sonὁ υἱὸςof Manτοῦ ἀνθρώπουwill giveδώσειyou;ὑμῖνforγὰρon himτοῦτονthe Father,ὁ πατὴρGod,ὁ θεόςhas set his seal.”ἐσφράγισεν
Soοὖνthey saidεἶπονtoπρὸςhim,αὐτόν“WhatΤίmust we doποιῶμενtoἵναcarry outἐργαζώμεθαthe worksτὰ ἔργαof God?”τοῦ θεοῦ
Jesusὁ Ἰησοῦςansweredἀπεκρίθηandκαὶsaidεἶπενto them,αὐτοῖς“ThisΤοῦτόisἐστινthe workτὸ ἔργονof God,τοῦ θεοῦthatἵναyou believeπιστεύητεinεἰςthe one whomὃνheἐκεῖνοςhas sent.”ἀπέστειλεν
Soοὖνthey saidεἶπονto him,αὐτῷ“WhatΤίsignσημεῖονthenοὖνdo youσὺdoποιεῖςthatἵναwe may seeἴδωμενandκαὶbelieveπιστεύσωμένyou?σοιWhatτίwork are you doing?ἐργάζῃ
Our fathersοἱ πατέρες ἡμῶνateἔφαγονthe mannaτὸ μάνναinἐνthe wilderness,τῇ ἐρήμῳasκαθώςit isἐστινwritten,γεγραμμένον‘He gaveἔδωκενthemαὐτοῖςbreadἌρτονfromἐκheavenτοῦ οὐρανοῦto eat.’”φαγεῖν
SoοὖνJesusὁ Ἰησοῦςsaidεἶπενto them,αὐτοῖς“Truly,Ἀμὴνtruly,ἀμὴνI tellλέγωyou,ὑμῖνit is notοὐMosesΜωϋσῆςwho has givenδέδωκενyouὑμῖνthe breadτὸν ἄρτονfromἐκheaven,τοῦ οὐρανοῦbutἀλλ’my Fatherὁ πατήρ μουgivesδίδωσινyouὑμῖνthe trueτὸν ἀληθινόνbreadτὸν ἄρτονfromἐκheaven.τοῦ οὐρανοῦ
Forγὰρthe breadὁ ἄρτοςof Godτοῦ θεοῦisἐστινthe one whoὁcomes downκαταβαίνωνfromἐκheavenτοῦ οὐρανοῦandκαὶgivesδιδοὺςlifeζωὴνto the world.”τῷ κόσμῳ
Soοὖνthey saidεἶπονtoπρὸςhim,αὐτόν“Lord,Κύριεgiveδὸςusἡμῖνthis breadτὸν ἄρτον τοῦτονalways.”πάντοτε
Jesusὁ ἸησοῦςsaidΕἶπενto them,αὐτοῖς“IἘγώamεἰμιthe breadὁ ἄρτοςof life.τῆς ζωῆςWhoeverὁcomesἐρχόμενοςtoπρὸςmeἐμὲwill neverοὐ μὴbe hungry,πεινάσῃandκαὶwhoeverὁbelievesπιστεύωνinεἰςmeἐμὲwill neverοὐ μὴbe thirstyδιψήσειagain.πώποτε
Butἀλλ’I saidεἶπονto youὑμῖνthatὅτιyou have seenἑωράκατέmeμεandκαὶyet you do notοὐbelieve.πιστεύετε
Everythingπᾶνthatὃthe Fatherὁ πατὴρgivesδίδωσίνmeμοιwill comeἥξειtoπρὸςme,ἐμὲandκαὶwhoeverτὸνcomesἐρχόμενονtoπρόςmeμεI will neverοὐ μὴcastἐκβάλωout,ἔξω
becauseὅτιI have come downκαταβέβηκαfromἀπὸheaven,τοῦ οὐρανοῦnotοὐχtoἵναdoποιῶmy ownτὸ ἐμὸνwill,τὸ θέλημαbutἀλλὰthe willτὸ θέλημαof the one whoτοῦsentπέμψαντόςme.με
Andδέthisτοῦτοisἐστινthe willτὸ θέλημαof the one whoτοῦsentπέμψαντόςme:μεthatἵναI should loseἀπολέσωnothingμὴofἐξallπᾶνthatὃhe has givenδέδωκένme,μοιbutἀλλὰraiseἀναστήσωitαὐτὸupἀναστήσωon the lastτῇ ἐσχάτῃday.ἡμέρᾳ
Forγάρthisτοῦτοisἐστινthe willτὸ θέλημαof my Father,τοῦ πατρός μουthatἵναeveryoneπᾶςwhoὁlooksθεωρῶνat the Sonτὸν υἱὸνandκαὶbelievesπιστεύωνinεἰςhimαὐτὸνmay haveἔχῃeternalαἰώνιονlife,ζωὴνandκαὶIἐγὼwill raiseἀναστήσωhimαὐτὸνupἀναστήσωon the lastτῇ ἐσχάτῃday.”ἡμέρᾳ
Soοὖνthe Jewsοἱ Ἰουδαῖοιwere grumblingἘγόγγυζονaboutπερὶhimαὐτοῦbecauseὅτιhe had said,εἶπεν“IἘγώamεἰμιthe breadὁ ἄρτοςthatὁcame downκαταβὰςfromἐκheaven.”τοῦ οὐρανοῦ
Andκαὶthey were saying,ἔλεγον“Is notΟὐχthisοὗτόςJesus,ἐστιν Ἰησοῦςthe sonὁ υἱὸςof Joseph,Ἰωσήφwhoseοὗfatherτὸν πατέραandκαὶmotherτὴν μητέραweἡμεῖςknow?οἴδαμενHowπῶςdoes he nowνῦνsay,λέγει‘I have come downκαταβέβηκαfromἘκheaven’?”τοῦ οὐρανοῦ
JesusἸησοῦςansweredἀπεκρίθηandκαὶsaidεἶπενto them,αὐτοῖς“Do notΜὴgrumbleγογγύζετεamongμετ’yourselves.ἀλλήλων
No oneοὐδεὶςcanδύναταιcomeἐλθεῖνtoπρόςmeμεunlessἐὰν μὴthe Fatherὁ πατὴρwhoὁsentπέμψαςmeμεdrawsἑλκύσῃhim,αὐτόνand Iκἀγὼwill raiseἀναστήσωhimαὐτὸνupἀναστήσωonἐνthe lastτῇ ἐσχάτῃday.ἡμέρᾳ
It isἔστινwrittenγεγραμμένονinἐνthe Prophets,τοῖς προφήταις‘AndΚαὶthey willἔσονταιallπάντεςbe taughtδιδακτοὶby God.’θεοῦEveryoneπᾶςwhoὁhas heardἀκούσαςfromπαρὰthe Fatherτοῦ πατρὸςandκαὶlearnedμαθὼνcomesἔρχεταιtoπρὸςme.ἐμέ
Notοὐχthatὅτιanyoneτιςhas seenἑώρακένthe Father,τὸν πατέραexceptεἰ μὴthe one whoὁisὢνfromπαρὰGod;τοῦ θεοῦheοὗτοςhas seenἑώρακενthe Father.τὸν πατέρα
Truly,ἀμὴνtruly,ἀμὴνI tellλέγωyou,ὑμῖνwhoeverὁbelievesπιστεύωνhasἔχειeternalαἰώνιονlife.ζωὴν
Iἐγώamεἰμιthe breadὁ ἄρτοςof life.τῆς ζωῆς
Your fathersοἱ πατέρες ὑμῶνateἔφαγονthe mannaτὸ μάνναinἐνthe wilderness,τῇ ἐρήμῳandκαὶthey died.ἀπέθανον

SoοὖνJesusὁ Ἰησοῦςsaidεἶπενto them,αὐτοῖς“Truly,Ἀμὴνtruly,ἀμὴνI tellλέγωyou,ὑμῖνunlessἐὰν μὴyou eatφάγητεthe fleshτὴν σάρκαof the Sonτοῦ υἱοῦof Manτοῦ ἀνθρώπουandκαὶdrinkπίητεhis blood,αὐτοῦ τὸ αἷμαyou do notοὐκhaveἔχετεlifeζωὴνinἐνyourselves.ἑαυτοῖς
Whoeverὁfeeds onτρώγωνmy fleshμου τὴν σάρκαandκαὶdrinksπίνωνmy bloodμου τὸ αἷμαhasἔχειeternalαἰώνιονlife,ζωὴνand Iκἀγὼwill raiseἀναστήσωhimαὐτὸνupἀναστήσωon the lastτῇ ἐσχάτῃday.ἡμέρᾳ
Forγὰρmy fleshἡ σάρξ μουisἐστιtrueἀληθήςfood,βρῶσιςandκαὶmy bloodτὸ αἷμά μουisἐστιtrueἀληθήςdrink.πόσις
Whoeverὁfeeds onτρώγωνmy fleshμου τὴν σάρκαandκαὶdrinksπίνωνmy bloodμου τὸ αἷμαremainsμένειinἐνme,ἐμοὶand Iκἀγὼinἐνhim.αὐτῷ
Asκαθὼςthe livingὁ ζῶνFatherπατὴρsentἀπέστειλένme,μεand Iκἀγὼliveζῶbecause ofδιὰthe Father,τὸν πατέραsoκαὶwhoeverὁfeeds onτρώγωνme,μεhe tooκἀκεῖνοςwill liveζήσειbecause ofδι’me.ἐμέ
Thisοὗτόςisἐστινthe breadὁ ἄρτοςthatὁcame downκαταβάςfromἐξheaven,οὐρανοῦnotοὐasκαθὼςthe fathersοἱ πατέρεςateἔφαγονandκαὶdied;ἀπέθανονwhoeverὁfeeds onτρώγωνthisτοῦτονbreadτὸν ἄρτονwill liveζήσειforever.”εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα
He saidεἶπενthese thingsταῦταinἐνa synagogue,συναγωγῇteachingδιδάσκωνinἐνCapernaum.Καφαρναούμ
SoοὖνmanyΠολλοὶofἐκhis disciples,τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦwhen they heard it,ἀκούσαντεςsaid,εἶπαν“Thisοὗτοςwordὁ λόγοςisἐστινhard;Σκληρόςwhoτίςcanδύναταιlisten toἀκούεινit?”αὐτοῦ
ButδὲJesus,ὁ Ἰησοῦςknowingεἰδὼςinἐνhimselfἑαυτῷthatὅτιhis disciplesοἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦwere grumblingγογγύζουσινaboutπερὶthis,τούτουsaidεἶπενto them,αὐτοῖς“Does thisΤοῦτοmake you stumble?ὑμᾶς σκανδαλίζει
Thenοὖνwhat ifἐὰνyou were to seeθεωρῆτεthe Sonτὸν υἱὸνof Manτοῦ ἀνθρώπουgoing upἀναβαίνονταwhereὅπουhe wasἦνbefore?τὸ πρότερον
It is the Spiritτὸ πνεῦμά ἐστινthatτὸgives life;ζῳοποιοῦνthe fleshἡ σὰρξis of noοὐκ οὐδένuse.ὠφελεῖThe wordsτὰ ῥήματαthatἃIἐγὼhave spokenλελάληκαto youὑμῖνareἐστινspiritπνεῦμάandκαὶareἐστινlife.ζωή
Butἀλλὰthere areεἰσὶνsomeτινεςofἐξyouὑμῶνwhoοἳdo notοὐbelieve.”πιστεύουσινForγὰρJesusὁ Ἰησοῦςknewᾔδειfromἐξthe beginningἀρχῆςwhoτίνεςthey wereεἰσὶνwhoοἱdid notμὴbelieve,πιστεύοντεςandκαὶwhoτίςit wasἐστινwhoὁwould hand him over.παραδώσων αὐτόν
Andκαὶhe was saying,ἔλεγεν“For this reasonΔιὰ τοῦτοI have toldεἴρηκαyouὑμῖνthatὅτιno oneοὐδεὶςcanδύναταιcomeἐλθεῖνtoπρόςmeμεunlessἐὰν μὴit has beenᾖgivenδεδομένονhimαὐτῷbyἐκthe Father.”τοῦ πατρός
FromἘκthis timeτούτουmanyπολλοὶofἐκhis disciplesτῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦturned backἀπῆλθον εἰς τὰ ὀπίσωandκαὶno longerοὐκέτιwalkedπεριεπάτουνwithμετ’him.αὐτοῦ
SoοὖνJesusὁ Ἰησοῦςsaidεἶπενto the Twelve,τοῖς δώδεκα“Youὑμεῖςdo notΜὴwantθέλετεto go awayὑπάγεινtoo,καὶdo you?”
Simon PeterΣίμων Πέτροςansweredἀπεκρίθηhim,αὐτῷ“Lord,Κύριεtoπρὸςwhomτίναshall we go?ἀπελευσόμεθαYou haveἔχειςwordsῥήματαof eternalαἰωνίουlife,ζωῆς
andκαὶweἡμεῖςhave believedπεπιστεύκαμενandκαὶhave come to knowἐγνώκαμενthatὅτιyouσὺareεἶthe Holy Oneὁ ἅγιοςof God.”τοῦ θεοῦ
Jesusὁ Ἰησοῦςansweredἀπεκρίθηthem,αὐτοῖς“Did I notΟὐκ ἐγὼchooseἐξελεξάμηνyou,ὑμᾶςthe Twelve?τοὺς δώδεκαAndκαὶoneεἷςofἐξyouὑμῶνisἐστινa devil.”διάβολός
He was speakingἔλεγενof Judas,τὸν Ἰούδανson of SimonΣίμωνοςIscariot;Ἰσκαριώτουforγὰρhe,οὗτοςoneεἷςofἐκthe Twelve,τῶν δώδεκαwas goingἔμελλενto hand him over.παραδιδόναι αὐτόν
