Romans 11

I sayΛέγωthen,οὖνGodὁ θεὸςhas notμὴrejectedἀπώσατοhis people,τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦhas he?By no means!μὴ γένοιτοForγὰρIἐγὼtooκαὶamεἰμίan Israelite,Ἰσραηλίτηςofἐκthe offspringσπέρματοςof Abraham,Ἀβραάμof the tribeφυλῆςof Benjamin.Βενιαμίν

Godὁ θεὸςhas notοὐκrejectedἀπώσατοhis peopleτὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦwhomὃνhe foreknew.προέγνωOrἢdo you notοὐκknowοἴδατεwhatτίthe Scriptureἡ γραφήsaysλέγειinἐνthe passage aboutElijah,Ἠλίᾳhowὡςhe pleadsἐντυγχάνειwith Godτῷ θεῷagainstκατὰIsrael?τοῦ Ἰσραήλ

Lord,Κύριεthey have killedἀπέκτεινανyour prophets,τοὺς προφήτας σουthey have torn downκατέσκαψανyour altars,τὰ θυσιαστήριά σουand Iκἀγὼaloneμόνοςam left,ὑπελείφθηνandκαὶthey are seekingζητοῦσινmy life.τὴν ψυχήν μου1

Butἀλλὰwhatτίdoes the divine answerὁ χρηματισμόςsayλέγειto him?αὐτῷI have keptΚατέλιπονfor myselfἐμαυτῷseven thousandἑπτακισχιλίουςmenἄνδραςwhoοἵτινεςhave notοὐκbowedἔκαμψανthe kneeγόνυto Baal.τῇ Βάαλ1

Soοὕτωςthen,οὖνalsoκαὶatἐνthe presentτῷ νῦνtimeκαιρῷthere has come to beγέγονενa remnantλεῖμμαaccording toκατ’the electionἐκλογὴνof grace.χάριτος

Andδὲifεἰit isby grace,χάριτιit isno longerοὐκέτιfromἐξworks;ἔργωνotherwiseἐπεὶgraceἡ χάριςisγίνεταιno longerοὐκέτιgrace.χάρις

Whatτίthen?οὖνWhatὃIsraelἸσραήλis seeking,ἐπιζητεῖthisτοῦτοit did notοὐκobtain;ἐπέτυχενbutδὲthe electἡ ἐκλογὴobtained it,ἐπέτυχενandδὲthe restοἱ λοιποὶwere hardened,ἐπωρώθησαν

asκαθὼςit is written:γέγραπταιGodὁ θεὸςgaveἜδωκενthemαὐτοῖςa spiritπνεῦμαof stupor,κατανύξεωςeyesὀφθαλμοὺςso as notτοῦ μὴto seeβλέπεινandκαὶearsὦταso as notτοῦ μὴto hear,ἀκούεινtoἕωςthisτῆς σήμερονday.ἡμέρας2

AndκαὶDavidΔαυὶδsays:λέγειLet their table becomeΓενηθήτω ἡ τράπεζα αὐτῶνa snareεἰς παγίδαandκαὶa trapεἰς θήρανandκαὶan offenseεἰς σκάνδαλονandκαὶa retributionεἰς ἀνταπόδομαto them;αὐτοῖς1

let their eyes be darkenedσκοτισθήτωσαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτῶνso that they do notτοῦ μὴsee,βλέπεινandκαὶbendσύγκαμψονtheir backτὸν νῶτον αὐτῶνcontinually.διὰ παντὸς

I sayΛέγωthen,οὖνthey did notμὴstumbleἔπταισανso as toἵναfall,πέσωσινdid they?By no means!μὴ γένοιτοButἀλλὰbyτῷtheirαὐτῶνtrespassπαραπτώματιsalvationἡ σωτηρίαhas cometo the nations,τοῖς ἔθνεσινso asεἰς τὸto provoke them to jealousy.παραζηλῶσαι αὐτούς

Nowδὲifεἰtheirαὐτῶνtrespassτὸ παράπτωμαisrichesπλοῦτοςfor the worldκόσμουandκαὶtheirαὐτῶνfailureτὸ ἥττημαrichesπλοῦτοςfor the nations,ἐθνῶνhow muchπόσῳmoreμᾶλλονtheirαὐτῶνfullness!τὸ πλήρωμα

NowδὲI am speakingλέγωto you,Ὑμῖνthe nations.τοῖς ἔθνεσινInasmuch as,ἐφ’ ὅσονthen,οὖνIἐγὼamεἰμιan apostleἀπόστολοςof the nations,ἐθνῶνI glorifyδοξάζωmy serviceτὴν διακονίαν μου

ifεἴsomehowπωςI may provoke to jealousyπαραζηλώσωmy own fleshμου τὴν σάρκαandκαὶsaveσώσωsomeτινὰςofἐξthem.αὐτῶν

Forγὰρifεἰtheirαὐτῶνrejectionἡ ἀποβολὴisthe reconciliationκαταλλαγὴof the world,κόσμουwhatτίςwilltheir acceptanceἡ πρόσλημψιςbebutεἰ μὴlifeζωὴfromἐκthe dead?νεκρῶν

Andδὲifεἰthe firstfruitsἡ ἀπαρχὴareholy,ἁγίαso isκαὶthe lump;τὸ φύραμαandκαὶifεἰthe rootἡ ῥίζαisholy,ἁγίαso areκαὶthe branches.οἱ κλάδοι1

ButδέifΕἰsomeτινεςof the branchesτῶν κλάδωνwere broken off,ἐξεκλάσθησανandδὲyou,σὺbeingὢνa wild olive tree,ἀγριέλαιοςwere grafted inἐνεκεντρίσθηςamongἐνthemαὐτοῖςandκαὶbecameἐγένουa sharerσυγκοινωνὸςin the rootτῆς ῥίζηςof the richnessτῆς πιότητοςof the olive tree,τῆς ἐλαίας

do notμὴboast overκατακαυχῶthe branches.τῶν κλάδωνButδὲifεἰyou boast,κατακαυχᾶσαιremember:it isnotοὐyouσὺwhosupportβαστάζειςthe root,τὴν ῥίζανbutἀλλὰthe rootἡ ῥίζαsupportsyou.σέ

You will sayἐρεῖςthen,οὖνBranchesκλάδοιwere broken offἘξεκλάσθησανso thatἵναIἐγὼmight be grafted in.ἐγκεντρισθῶ

True.καλῶςBecause of unbeliefτῇ ἀπιστίᾳthey were broken off,ἐξεκλάσθησανbutδὲyouσὺstandἕστηκαςby faith.τῇ πίστειDo notμὴthinkφρόνειlofty things,ὑψηλὰbutἀλλὰfear;φοβοῦ

forγὰρifεἰGodὁ θεὸςdid notοὐκspareἐφείσατοthe naturalκατὰ φύσινbranches,τῶν κλάδωνneitherοὐδὲwill he spareφείσεταιyou.σοῦ

See,ἴδεthen,οὖνthe kindnessχρηστότηταandκαὶseverityἀποτομίανof God:θεοῦonἐπὶthose who fell,τοὺς πεσόνταςseverity;ἀποτομίαbutδὲonἐπὶyou,σὲthe kindnessχρηστότηςof God,θεοῦifἐὰνyou remainἐπιμένῃςin his kindness;τῇ χρηστότητιotherwiseἐπεὶyou tooκαὶ σὺwill be cut off.ἐκκοπήσῃ

Andδέthey too,κἀκεῖνοιifἐὰνthey do notμὴremainἐπιμένωσιin unbelief,τῇ ἀπιστίᾳwill be grafted in;ἐγκεντρισθήσονταιforγάρGodὁ θεὸςisἐστινableδυνατὸςto graftἐγκεντρίσαιthemαὐτούςin again.πάλιν

Forγὰρifεἰyouσὺwere cut offἐξεκόπηςfromἐκwhat isτῆςbyκατὰnatureφύσινa wild olive treeἀγριελαίουandκαὶwere grafted,ἐνεκεντρίσθηςcontrary toπαρὰnature,φύσινintoεἰςa cultivated olive tree,καλλιέλαιονhow muchπόσῳmoreμᾶλλονwill these,οὗτοιthe natural branches,οἱ κατὰ φύσινbe graftedἐγκεντρισθήσονταιinto their ownτῇ ἰδίᾳolive tree?ἐλαίᾳ

ForγὰρI do notΟὐwantθέλωyouὑμᾶςto be unaware,ἀγνοεῖνbrothers,ἀδελφοίof thisτοῦτοmystery,τὸ μυστήριονso thatἵναyou may notμὴbeἦτεwiseφρόνιμοιin your own estimation:ἑαυτοῖςthatὅτιa hardeningπώρωσιςinἀπὸpartμέρουςhas comeγέγονενupon Israelτῷ Ἰσραὴλuntilἄχρι οὗthe fullnessτὸ πλήρωμαof the nationsτῶν ἐθνῶνhas come in;εἰσέλθῃ

andκαὶsoοὕτωςallπᾶςIsraelἸσραὴλwill be saved,σωθήσεταιasκαθὼςit is written:γέγραπταιThe Delivererὁ ῥυόμενοςwill comeἭξειfromἐκZion,Σιὼνhe will turn awayἀποστρέψειungodlinessἀσεβείαςfromἀπὸJacob;Ἰακώβ1

andκαὶthisαὕτηwill bemyπαρ’ ἐμοῦcovenantἡ διαθήκηwith them,αὐτοῖςwhenὅτανI take awayἀφέλωμαιtheir sins.τὰς ἁμαρτίας αὐτῶν

As regardsκατὰthe good news,τὸ εὐαγγέλιονthey areenemiesἐχθροὶfor your sake;δι’ ὑμᾶςbutδὲas regardsκατὰthe election,τὴν ἐκλογὴνthey arebelovedἀγαπητοὶfor the sake ofδιὰthe fathers.τοὺς πατέρας

Forγὰρthe giftsτὰ χαρίσματαandκαὶthe callingἡ κλῆσιςof Godτοῦ θεοῦareirrevocable.ἀμεταμέλητα

Forγὰρjust asὥσπερyouὑμεῖςonceποτεdisobeyedἠπειθήσατεGod,τῷ θεῷbutδὲnowνῦνhave received mercyἠλεήθητεbecause ofτῇtheirτούτωνdisobedience,ἀπειθείᾳ

soοὕτωςthey tooκαὶ οὗτοιhave nowνῦνbeen disobedient,ἠπείθησανso that,ἵναby the mercy shown to you,τῷ ὑμετέρῳ ἐλέειthey alsoκαὶ αὐτοὶmay nowνῦνreceive mercy.ἐλεηθῶσιν

ForγὰρGodὁ θεὸςhas shut upσυνέκλεισενallτοὺς πάνταςinεἰςdisobedience,ἀπείθειανso thatἵναhe may have mercy onἐλεήσῃall.τοὺς πάντας

OὮthe depthβάθοςof the richesπλούτουandκαὶof the wisdomσοφίαςandκαὶof the knowledgeγνώσεωςof God!θεοῦHowὡςinscrutableἀνεξεραύνηταarehis judgmentsτὰ κρίματα αὐτοῦandκαὶunfathomableἀνεξιχνίαστοιhis ways!αἱ ὁδοὶ αὐτοῦ

ForγὰρwhoΤίςhas knownἔγνωthe mindνοῦνof the Lord?κυρίουOrἢwhoτίςhas becomeἐγένετοhisαὐτοῦcounselor?σύμβουλος1

Orἢwhoτίςhas given in advanceπροέδωκενto himαὐτῷso thatκαὶit will be repaidἀνταποδοθήσεταιto him?αὐτῷ

Forὅτιfromἐξhimαὐτοῦandκαὶthroughδι’himαὐτοῦandκαὶtoεἰςhimαὐτὸνareall things.τὰ πάνταTo himαὐτῷbethe gloryἡ δόξαforever.εἰς τοὺς αἰῶναςAmen.ἀμήν
