Throne: the seat of a king or a judge, and by extension his power to reign and judge. In Revelation, God's throne is the center of the visions. In Colossians 1:16, “thrones” also names unseen powers.

How we translate it

Always “throne” (54 times) or “thrones” (8), also in the figurative sense of power, so that the image can be seen: rulers are brought down “from thrones” (Luke 1:52), and the Twelve will “sit on thrones” to judge (Luke 22:30). Almost half the cases are in Revelation, where the one seated on the throne is God.
