The wordὁ λόγοςistrustworthy:πιστὸςForγὰρifεἰwe died with him,συναπεθάνομενwe will alsoκαὶlive with him;συζήσομεν
ifεἰwe endure,ὑπομένομενwe will alsoκαὶreign with him;συμβασιλεύσομενifεἰwe deny him,ἀρνησόμεθαhe alsoκἀκεῖνοςwill denyἀρνήσεταιus;ἡμᾶς
ifεἰwe are unfaithful,ἀπιστοῦμενheἐκεῖνοςremainsμένειfaithful,πιστὸςforhe cannotοὐ δύναταιdenyἀρνήσασθαιhimself.ἑαυτὸν

Make every effortσπούδασονto presentπαραστῆσαιyourselfσεαυτὸνapprovedδόκιμονto God,τῷ θεῷa workerἐργάτηνwho has no need to be ashamed,ἀνεπαίσχυντονcutting straightὀρθοτομοῦνταthe wordτὸν λόγονof truth.τῆς ἀληθείας
Butδὲavoidπεριΐστασοthe profaneτὰς βεβήλουςempty chatter,κενοφωνίαςforγὰρthey will advanceπροκόψουσινfurtherἐπὶ πλεῖονin ungodliness,ἀσεβείας
andκαὶtheirαὐτῶνwordὁ λόγοςwill spreadνομὴν ἕξειlikeὡςgangrene.γάγγραιναAmong whomὧνareἐστινHymenaeusὙμέναιοςandκαὶPhiletus,Φίλητος
whoοἵτινεςhave missed the markἠστόχησανconcerningπερὶthe truth,τὴν ἀλήθειανsayingλέγοντεςthat the resurrectionἀνάστασινhas already taken place,ἤδη γεγονέναιandκαὶthey are overturningἀνατρέπουσινthe faithτήν πίστινof some.τινων
Nevertheless,μέντοιthe firmὁ στερεὸςfoundationθεμέλιοςof Godτοῦ θεοῦstands,ἕστηκενhavingἔχωνthisταύτηνseal:τὴν σφραγῖδα“The LordκύριοςknewἜγνωthose whoτοὺς ὄνταςare his,”αὐτοῦand,καί“Let everyoneπᾶς ὁwho namesὀνομάζωνthe nameτὸ ὄνομαof the LordκυρίουdepartἈποστήτωfromἀπὸunrighteousness.”ἀδικίας
NowδὲinἘνa largeμεγάλῃhouseοἰκίᾳthere areἔστινnotοὐκonlyμόνονvesselsσκεύηof goldχρυσᾶandκαὶsilver,ἀργυρᾶbutἀλλὰalsoκαὶof woodξύλιναandκαὶclay,ὀστράκιναandκαὶsomeἃ μὲνforεἰςhonor,τιμὴνand someἃ δὲforεἰςdishonor.ἀτιμίαν
Soοὖνifἐὰνanyoneτιςcleansesἐκκαθάρῃhimselfἑαυτὸνfromἀπὸthese things,τούτωνhe will beἔσταιa vesselσκεῦοςforεἰςhonor,τιμήνsanctified,ἡγιασμένονusefulεὔχρηστονto the master,τῷ δεσπότῃpreparedἡτοιμασμένονforεἰςeveryπᾶνgoodἀγαθὸνwork.ἔργον
Butδὲfleeφεῦγεyouthfulτὰς νεωτερικὰςdesires,ἐπιθυμίαςandδὲpursueδίωκεrighteousness,δικαιοσύνηνfaith,πίστινlove,ἀγάπηνpeace,εἰρήνηνwithμετὰthose whoτῶνcall onἐπικαλουμένωνthe Lordτὸν κύριονfromἐκa pureκαθαρᾶςheart.καρδίας
Butδὲrefuseπαραιτοῦfoolishτὰς μωρὰςandκαὶignorantἀπαιδεύτουςspeculations,ζητήσειςknowingεἰδὼςthatὅτιthey produceγεννῶσιquarrels.μάχας
Andδὲthe Lord’sκυρίουslaveδοῦλονmust notοὐ δεῖquarrel,μάχεσθαιbutἀλλὰbeεἶναιgentleἤπιονtowardπρὸςall,πάνταςable to teach,διδακτικόνpatient when wronged,ἀνεξίκακον
correctingπαιδεύονταwithἐνgentlenessπραΰτητιthose whoτοὺςoppose him;ἀντιδιατιθεμένουςperhapsμήποτεGodὁ θεὸςmay giveδώῃthemαὐτοῖςa change of mindμετάνοιανleading toεἰςthe knowledgeἐπίγνωσινof the truth,ἀληθείας
