At that timeבָּעֵת הַהִואYHWHיְהוָהsaidאָמַרto me,אֵלַי“Carveפְּסָלfor yourselfלְךָtwoשְׁנֵיtabletsלֻוחֹתof stoneאֲבָנִיםlike the first ones,כָּרִאשֹׁנִיםand come upוַעֲלֵהto meאֵלַיon the mountain,הָהָרָהand makeוְעָשִׂיתָfor yourselfלְּךָan arkאֲרוֹןof wood.עֵץ
And I will writeוְאֶכְתֹּבonעַלthe tabletsהַלֻּחֹתthe wordsאֶת הַדְּבָרִיםthatאֲשֶׁרwereהָיוּonעַלthe firstהָרִאשֹׁנִיםtablets,הַלֻּחֹתwhichאֲשֶׁרyou broke,שִׁבַּרְתָּand you shall put themוְשַׂמְתָּםin the ark.”בָּאָרוֹן
So I madeוָאַעַשׂan arkאֲרוֹןof acaciaשִׁטִּיםwoodעֲצֵיand carvedוָאֶפְסֹלtwoשְׁנֵיtabletsלֻחֹתof stoneאֲבָנִיםlike the first ones,כָּרִאשֹׁנִיםand went upוָאַעַלthe mountainהָהָרָהwith the twoוּשְׁנֵיtabletsהַלֻּחֹתin my hand.בְּיָדִי
And he wroteוַיִּכְתֹּבonעַלthe tablets,הַלֻּחֹתaccording to the firstכַּ הָרִאשׁוֹןwriting,מִּכְתָּבthe tenאֵת עֲשֶׂרֶתwordsהַדְּבָרִיםthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהhad spokenדִּבֶּרto youאֲלֵיכֶםon the mountainבָּהָרfrom the midstמִתּוֹךְof the fireהָאֵשׁon the dayבְּיוֹםof the assembly;הַקָּהָלand YHWHוַ יְהוָהgave themיִּתְּנֵםto me.אֵלָי
Then I turnedוָאֵפֶןand came downוָאֵרֵדfromמִןthe mountainהָהָרand putוָאָשִׂםthe tabletsאֶת הַלֻּחֹתin the arkבָּאָרוֹןthatאֲשֶׁרI had made;עָשִׂיתִיand they areוַיִּהְיוּthere,שָׁםasכַּאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהcommanded me.צִוַּנִי
(The sonsוּבְנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלset outנָסְעוּfrom the wellsמִבְּאֵרֹתof Bene-jaakanבְּנֵי יַעֲקָןto Moserah.מוֹסֵרָהThereשָׁםAaronאַהֲרֹןdied,מֵתand thereשָׁםhe was buried,וַיִּקָּבֵרand Eleazarאֶלְעָזָרhis sonבְּנוֹserved as priestוַיְכַהֵןin his place.תַּחְתָּיו
From thereמִשָּׁםthey set outנָסְעוּto Gudgodah,הַגֻּדְגֹּדָהand fromוּמִןGudgodahהַגֻּדְגֹּדָהto Jotbathah,יָטְבָתָהa landאֶרֶץof streamsנַחֲלֵיof water.)מָיִם
At that timeבָּעֵת הַהִואYHWHיְהוָהset apartהִבְדִּילthe tribeאֶת שֵׁבֶטof Leviהַלֵּוִיto carryלָשֵׂאתthe arkאֶת אֲרוֹןof the covenantבְּרִיתof YHWH,יְהוָהto standלַעֲמֹדbeforeלִפְנֵיYHWHיְהוָהto minister to himלְשָׁרְתוֹand to blessוּלְבָרֵךְin his name,בִּשְׁמוֹtoעַדthisהַזֶּהday.הַיּוֹם
Thereforeעַל כֵּןLeviלְלֵוִיhas hadהָיָהnoלֹאportionחֵלֶקor inheritanceוְנַחֲלָהwith his brothers;עִם אֶחָיוYHWH,יְהוָהheהוּאis his inheritance,נַחֲלָתוֹasכַּאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָhas spokenדִּבֶּרto him.לוֹ
Iוְאָנֹכִיstoodעָמַדְתִּיon the mountain,בָהָרas in the firstכַּ הָרִאשֹׁנִיםdays,יָּמִיםfortyאַרְבָּעִיםdaysיוֹםand fortyוְאַרְבָּעִיםnights;לָיְלָהand YHWHוַ יְהוָהlistenedיִּשְׁמַעto meאֵלַיthatהַהִואtimeבַּפַּעַםalso;גַּםYHWHיְהוָהwas notלֹאwillingאָבָהto destroy you.הַשְׁחִיתֶךָ
YHWHיְהוָהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto me,אֵלַי“Get up,קוּםgoלֵךְon the journeyלְמַסַּעbeforeלִפְנֵיthe people,הָעָםso that they may go inוְיָבֹאוּand take possession ofוְיִרְשׁוּthe landאֶת הָאָרֶץthatאֲשֶׁרI sworeנִשְׁבַּעְתִּיto their fathersלַאֲבֹתָםto giveלָתֵתthem.”לָהֶם
And now,וְעַתָּהIsrael,יִשְׂרָאֵלwhatמָהis YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָaskingשֹׁאֵלof youמֵעִמָּךְbutכִּי אִםto fearלְיִרְאָהYHWHאֶת יְהוָהyour Elohim,אֱלֹהֶיךָto walkלָלֶכֶתin allבְּכָלhis ways,דְּרָכָיוto loveוּלְאַהֲבָהhim,אֹתוֹand to serveוְלַעֲבֹדYHWHאֶת יְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָwith allבְּכָלyour heartלְבָבְךָand with allוּבְכָלyour soul,נַפְשֶׁךָ
to keepלִשְׁמֹרthe commandmentsאֶת מִצְוֺתof YHWHיְהוָהand his statutesוְאֶת חֻקֹּתָיוthatאֲשֶׁרIאָנֹכִיam commanding youמְצַוְּךָtoday,הַיּוֹםfor your good?לְטוֹב לָךְ
Look,הֵןto YHWHלַיהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָbelong the heavensהַשָּׁמַיִםand the heavensוּשְׁמֵיof the heavens,הַשָּׁמָיִםthe earthהָאָרֶץand allוְכָלthatאֲשֶׁרis in it.בָּהּ
Yetרַקon your fathersבַּאֲבֹתֶיךָYHWHיְהוָהset his affectionחָשַׁקto loveלְאַהֲבָהthem,אוֹתָםand he choseוַיִּבְחַרtheir offspringבְּזַרְעָםafter them,אַחֲרֵיהֶםyou,בָּכֶםout of allמִכָּלthe peoples,הָעַמִּיםas it is thisכַּ הַזֶּהday.יּוֹם
So circumciseוּמַלְתֶּםthe foreskinאֵת עָרְלַתof your heart,לְבַבְכֶםand do notוְ לֹאbe stubbornעָרְפְּכֶם תַקְשׁוּany longer.עוֹד
ForכִּיYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohim,אֱלֹהֵיכֶםheהוּאis Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof godsהָאֱלֹהִיםand Lordוַאֲדֹנֵיof lords,הָאֲדֹנִיםthe great,הַגָּדֹלmighty,הַגִּבֹּרand fearsomeוְהַנּוֹרָאEl,הָאֵלwhoאֲשֶׁרdoes notלֹאshow favoritismיִשָּׂא פָנִיםand does notוְלֹאtakeיִקַּחa bribe.שֹׁחַד
He doesעֹשֶׂהjusticeמִשְׁפַּטfor the orphanיָתוֹםand the widow,וְאַלְמָנָהand lovesוְאֹהֵבthe resident alien,גֵּרgivingלָתֶתhimלוֹbreadלֶחֶםand a cloak.וְשִׂמְלָה
So you shall loveוַאֲהַבְתֶּםthe resident alien,אֶת הַגֵּרforכִּיyou wereהֱיִיתֶםresident aliensגֵרִיםin the landבְּאֶרֶץof Egypt.מִצְרָיִם
YHWHאֶת יְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָyou shall fear;תִּירָאhimאֹתוֹyou shall serve;תַעֲבֹדto himוּבוֹyou shall cling;תִדְבָּקand by his nameוּבִשְׁמוֹyou shall swear.תִּשָּׁבֵעַ
Heהוּאis your praise,תְהִלָּתְךָand heוְהוּאis your Elohim,אֱלֹהֶיךָwhoאֲשֶׁרhas doneעָשָׂהfor youאִתְּךָtheseהָאֵלֶּהgreatאֶת הַגְּדֹלֹתand fearsome thingsוְאֶת הַנּוֹרָאֹתthatאֲשֶׁרyour eyesעֵינֶיךָhave seen.רָאוּ
With seventyבְּשִׁבְעִיםpersonsנֶפֶשׁyour fathersאֲבֹתֶיךָwent downיָרְדוּto Egypt,מִצְרָיְמָהּand nowוְעַתָּהYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָhas made youשָׂמְךָlike the starsכְּכוֹכְבֵיof the heavensהַשָּׁמַיִםin multitude.לָרֹב
