And Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהwentיֵּלֶךְand spokeוַיְדַבֵּרtheseהָאֵלֶּהwordsהַדְּבָרִיםtoאֶלallכָּלIsrael.יִשְׂרָאֵל
And he saidוַיֹּאמֶרto them,אֲלֵהֶם“A hundredבֶּן מֵאָהand twentyוְעֶשְׂרִיםyears oldשָׁנָהI amאָנֹכִיtoday;הַיּוֹםI am noלֹאlongerעוֹדableאוּכַלto go outלָצֵאתand to come in,וְלָבוֹאand YHWHוַיהוָהhas saidאָמַרto me,אֵלַי‘You shall notלֹאcrossתַעֲבֹרthisהַזֶּהJordan.’הַיַּרְדֵּן
YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohim,אֱלֹהֶיךָheהוּאis crossing overעֹבֵרbefore you;לְפָנֶיךָheהוּאwill destroyיַשְׁמִידtheseהָאֵלֶּהnationsהַגּוֹיִםfrom before you,מִלְּפָנֶיךָand you will dispossess them.וִירִשְׁתָּםJoshua,יְהוֹשֻׁעַheהוּאis crossing overעֹבֵרbefore you,לְפָנֶיךָasכַּאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהhas spoken.דִּבֶּר
And YHWHוְ יְהוָהwill doעָשָׂהto themלָהֶםasכַּאֲשֶׁרhe didעָשָׂהto Sihonלְסִיחוֹןand to Og,וּלְעוֹגthe kingsמַלְכֵיof the Amorites,הָאֱמֹרִיand to their land,וּלְאַרְצָםwhomאֲשֶׁרhe destroyed.הִשְׁמִיד אֹתָם
And YHWHוּ יְהוָהwill give them overנְתָנָםbefore you,לִפְנֵיכֶםand you shall doוַעֲשִׂיתֶםto themלָהֶםaccording to allכְּכָלthe commandmentהַמִּצְוָהthatאֲשֶׁרI have commandedצִוִּיתִיyou.אֶתְכֶם
Be strongחִזְקוּand firm;וְאִמְצוּdo notאַלfearתִּירְאוּand do notוְאַלbe terrifiedתַּעַרְצוּbefore them,מִפְּנֵיהֶםforכִּיYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohim,אֱלֹהֶיךָheהוּאis the one who goesהַהֹלֵךְwith you;עִמָּךְhe will notלֹאlet go of youיַרְפְּךָorוְלֹאforsake you.”יַעַזְבֶךָּ
And Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהcalledיִּקְרָאJoshuaלִיהוֹשֻׁעַand saidוַיֹּאמֶרto himאֵלָיוin the sightלְעֵינֵיof allכָלIsrael,יִשְׂרָאֵל“Be strongחֲזַקand firm,וֶאֱמָץforכִּיyouאַתָּהwill goתָּבוֹאwith thisאֶת הַזֶּהpeopleהָעָםintoאֶלthe landהָאָרֶץthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהsworeנִשְׁבַּעto their fathersלַאֲבֹתָםto giveלָתֵתthem,לָהֶםand youוְאַתָּהwill cause them to inheritתַּנְחִילֶנָּהit.אוֹתָם
And YHWH,וַיהוָהheהוּאis the one who goesהַהֹלֵךְbefore you;לְפָנֶיךָheהוּאwill beיִהְיֶהwith you;עִמָּךְhe will notלֹאlet go of youיַרְפְּךָorוְלֹאforsake you.יַעַזְבֶךָּDo notלֹאfearתִירָאand do notוְלֹאbe dismayed.”תֵחָת
And Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהwroteיִּכְתֹּבthisהַזֹּאתinstructionהַתּוֹרָהand gave itוַיִּתְּנָהּtoאֶלthe priests,הַכֹּהֲנִיםthe sonsבְּנֵיof Levi,לֵוִיwho carriedהַנֹּשְׂאִיםthe arkאֲרוֹןof the covenantבְּרִיתof YHWH,יְהוָהand toוְאֶלallכָּלthe eldersזִקְנֵיof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
And Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהcommandedיְצַוthem,אוֹתָםsaying,לֵאמֹר“At the endמִקֵּץof every sevenשֶׁבַעyears,שָׁנִיםat the appointed timeבְּמֹעֵדof the yearשְׁנַתof release,הַשְּׁמִטָּהat the Feastבְּחַגof Booths,הַסֻּכּוֹת
when allבְּבוֹא כָלIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלcomesבוֹאto appearלֵרָאוֹתbefore the faceאֶת פְּנֵיof YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָat the placeבַּמָּקוֹםthatאֲשֶׁרhe chooses,יִבְחָרyou shall readתִּקְרָאthisהַזֹּאתinstructionהַתּוֹרָהbeforeנֶגֶדallכָּלIsrael,יִשְׂרָאֵלin their ears.בְּאָזְנֵיהֶם
Assembleהַקְהֵלthe people,הָעָםthe menהָאֲנָשִׁיםand the womenוְהַנָּשִׁיםand the little ones,וְהַטַּףand your resident alienוְגֵרְךָwho isאֲשֶׁרwithin your gates,בִּשְׁעָרֶיךָso thatלְמַעַןthey may hearיִשְׁמְעוּand so thatוּלְמַעַןthey may learnיִלְמְדוּand fearוְיָרְאוּYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֵיכֶםand take careוְשָׁמְרוּto doלַעֲשׂוֹתallכָּלthe wordsדִּבְרֵיof thisהַזֹּאתinstruction;הַתּוֹרָה
and that their sons,וּבְנֵיהֶםwhoאֲשֶׁרhave notלֹאknown,יָדְעוּmay hearיִשְׁמְעוּand learnוְלָמְדוּto fearלְיִרְאָהYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֵיכֶםallכָּלthe daysהַיָּמִיםthatאֲשֶׁרyouאַתֶּםliveחַיִּיםonעַלthe landהָאֲדָמָהthatאֲשֶׁרyouאַתֶּםare crossingעֹבְרִיםthe Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּןto go thereשָׁמָּהand possess it.”לְרִשְׁתָּהּ
And YHWHוַ יְהוָהsaidיֹּאמֶרtoאֶלMoses,מֹשֶׁה“Look,הֵןyour daysיָמֶיךָhave drawn nearקָרְבוּfor dying.לָמוּתCallקְרָאJoshuaיְהוֹשֻׁעַand present yourselvesוְהִתְיַצְּבוּin the tentבְּאֹהֶלof meeting,מוֹעֵדso that I may commission him.”וַאֲצַוֶּנּוּAnd Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהand Joshuaוִיהוֹשֻׁעַwentיֵּלֶךְand presented themselvesוַיִּתְיַצְּבוּin the tentבְּאֹהֶלof meeting.מוֹעֵד
And YHWHוַ יְהוָהappearedיֵּרָאin the tentבָּאֹהֶלin a pillarבְּעַמּוּדof cloud,עָנָןand the pillarוַ עַמּוּדof cloudהֶעָנָןstoodיַּעֲמֹדoverעַלthe entranceפֶּתַחof the tent.הָאֹהֶל
And YHWHוַ יְהוָהsaidיֹּאמֶרtoאֶלMoses,מֹשֶׁה“Look,הִנְּyouךָare about to lie downשֹׁכֵבwithעִםyour fathers,אֲבֹתֶיךָand thisוְ הַזֶּהpeopleהָעָםwill riseקָםand prostitute themselvesוְזָנָהafterאַחֲרֵיthe foreignנֵכַרgodsאֱלֹהֵיof the landהָאָרֶץwhereאֲשֶׁר שָׁמָּהtheyהוּאare going,בָאin its midst,בְּקִרְבּוֹand they will forsake meוַעֲזָבַנִיand breakוְהֵפֵרmy covenantבְּרִיתִיthatאֲשֶׁרI madeכָּרַתִּיwith them.אִתּוֹ
And my angerוְ אַפִּיwill burnחָרָהagainst themבוֹon thatבַ הַהוּאday,יּוֹםand I will forsake themוַעֲזַבְתִּיםand hideוְהִסְתַּרְתִּיmy faceפָנַיfrom them,מֵהֶםand they will beוְהָיָהdevoured,לֶאֱכֹלand manyרַבּוֹתevilsרָעוֹתand troublesוְצָרוֹתwill find them;וּמְצָאֻהוּand they will sayוְאָמַרon thatבַּ הַהוּאday,יּוֹם‘Is it notהֲלֹאbecauseעַל כִּיmy Elohimאֱלֹהַיis notאֵיןin my midstבְּקִרְבִּיthat theseהָ הָאֵלֶּהevilsרָעוֹתhave found me?’מְצָאוּנִי
And Iוְאָנֹכִיwill surely hideהַסְתֵּר אַסְתִּירmy faceפָּנַיon thatבַּ הַהוּאdayיּוֹםbecause of allעַל כָּלthe evilהָרָעָהthatאֲשֶׁרthey have done,עָשָׂהforכִּיthey have turnedפָנָהtoאֶלotherאֲחֵרִיםgods.אֱלֹהִים
And now,וְעַתָּהwriteכִּתְבוּfor yourselvesלָכֶםthisהַזֹּאתsong,הַשִּׁירָהand teach itוְלַמְּדָהּto the sonsבְּנֵיof Israel;יִשְׂרָאֵלput itשִׂימָהּin their mouths,בְּפִיהֶםso thatלְמַעַןthisהַזֹּאתsongהַשִּׁירָהmay beתִּהְיֶהfor meלִּיa witnessלְעֵדagainst the sonsבִּבְנֵיof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
ForכִּיI will bring themאֲבִיאֶנּוּintoאֶלthe landהָאֲדָמָהthatאֲשֶׁרI sworeנִשְׁבַּעְתִּיto their fathers,לַאֲבֹתָיוflowingזָבַתwith milkחָלָבand honey,וּדְבַשׁand they will eatוְאָכַלand be satisfiedוְשָׂבַעand grow fat,וְדָשֵׁןand they will turnוּפָנָהtoאֶלotherאֲחֵרִיםgodsאֱלֹהִיםand serve them,וַעֲבָדוּםand despise meוְנִאֲצוּנִיand breakוְהֵפֵרmy covenant.בְּרִיתִי
And it shall be,וְהָיָהwhenכִּיmanyרַבּוֹתevilsרָעוֹתand troublesוְצָרוֹתhave foundתִמְצֶאןָthem,אֹתוֹthat thisוְ הַזֹּאתsongהַשִּׁירָהwill testifyעָנְתָהbefore themלְפָנָיוas a witness,לְעֵדforכִּיit will notלֹאbe forgottenתִשָּׁכַחfrom the mouthsמִפִּיof their offspring.זַרְעוֹForכִּיI knowיָדַעְתִּיtheir inclination,יִצְרוֹwhatאֲשֶׁרtheyהוּאare doingעֹשֶׂהtoday,הַיּוֹםbeforeבְּטֶרֶםI bring themאֲבִיאֶנּוּintoאֶלthe landהָאָרֶץthatאֲשֶׁרI swore.”נִשְׁבָּעְתִּי
And Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהwroteיִּכְתֹּבthisהַזֹּאתsongהַשִּׁירָהon thatבַּ הַהוּאdayיּוֹםand taught itוַיְלַמְּדָהּto the sonsבְּנֵיof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
And he commandedוַיְצַוJoshuaיְהוֹשֻׁעַsonבִּןof Nunנוּןand said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Be strongחֲזַקand firm,וֶאֱמָץforכִּיyouאַתָּהwill bringתָּבִיאthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלintoאֶלthe landהָאָרֶץthatאֲשֶׁרI sworeנִשְׁבַּעְתִּיto them,לָהֶםand Iוְאָנֹכִיwill beאֶהְיֶהwith you.”עִמָּךְ
And it happened,וַיְהִיwhen Mosesכְּ מֹשֶׁהhad finishedכַלּוֹתwritingלִכְתֹּבthe wordsדִּבְרֵיof thisהַזֹּאתinstructionהַתּוֹרָהin a bookעַל סֵפֶרtoעַדthe end,תֻּמָּם
that Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהcommandedיְצַוthe Levites,הַלְוִיִּםwho carriedנֹשְׂאֵיthe arkאֲרוֹןof the covenantבְּרִיתof YHWH,יְהוָהsaying,לֵאמֹר
“Takeלָקֹחַthisהַזֶּהbookסֵפֶרof the instructionהַתּוֹרָהand putוְשַׂמְתֶּםitאֹתוֹbesideמִצַּדthe arkאֲרוֹןof the covenantבְּרִיתof YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohim,אֱלֹהֵיכֶםand it shall beוְהָיָהthereשָׁםas a witnessלְעֵדagainst you.בְּךָ
ForכִּיIאָנֹכִיknowיָדַעְתִּיyour rebelliousnessמֶרְיְךָand your stubbornness.וְ עָרְפְּךָ הַקָּשֶׁהLook,הֵןwhile Iבְּעוֹדֶנִּיam stillעוֹדֶaliveחַיwith youעִמָּכֶםtoday,הַיּוֹםyou have beenהֱיִתֶםrebelliousמַמְרִיםagainstעִםYHWH;יְהֹוָהhow much moreוְאַף כִּיafterאַחֲרֵיmy death!מוֹתִי
Assembleהַקְהִילוּto meאֵלַיallכָּלthe eldersזִקְנֵיof your tribesשִׁבְטֵיכֶםand your supervisors,וְשֹׁטְרֵיכֶםso that I may speakוַאֲדַבְּרָהin their earsבְאָזְנֵיהֶםtheseהָאֵלֶּהwordsהַדְּבָרִיםand callוְאָעִידָהthe heavensהַשָּׁמַיִםand the earthוְאֶת הָאָרֶץto witnessאָעִידָהagainst them.בָּם
ForכִּיI knowיָדַעְתִּיthat afterאַחֲרֵי כִּיmy deathמוֹתִיyou will surely act corruptlyהַשְׁחֵת תַּשְׁחִתוּןand turn asideוְסַרְתֶּםfromמִןthe wayהַדֶּרֶךְthatאֲשֶׁרI have commandedצִוִּיתִיyou;אֶתְכֶםand evilהָרָעָהwill befallוְקָרָאתyouאֶתְכֶםin the daysבְּאַחֲרִיתto come,הַיָּמִיםbecauseכִּיyou will doתַעֲשׂוּwhat is evilהָרַעin the eyesבְּעֵינֵיof YHWH,יְהוָהprovoking him to angerלְהַכְעִיסוֹwith the workבְּמַעֲשֵׂהof your hands.”יְדֵיכֶם
And Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהspokeיְדַבֵּרin the earsבְּאָזְנֵיof allכָּלthe assemblyקְהַלof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלthe wordsדִּבְרֵיof thisהַזֹּאתsongהַשִּׁירָהtoעַדthe end:תֻּמָּם
