In the beginningבְּרֵאשִׁיתElohimאֱלֹהִיםcreatedבָּרָאthe heavensאֵת הַשָּׁמַיִםand the earth.וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ
Now the earthוְהָאָרֶץwasהָיְתָהformlessתֹהוּand empty,וָבֹהוּand darkness wasוְחֹשֶׁךְover the surfaceעַל פְּנֵיof the deep,תְהוֹםand the spiritוְרוּחַof Elohimאֱלֹהִיםwas hoveringמְרַחֶפֶתover the surfaceעַל פְּנֵיof the waters.הַמָּיִם
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsaid,יֹּאמֶר“Let there beיְהִיlight,”אוֹרand there wasוַיְהִיlight.אוֹר
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsawיַּרְאthe light,אֶת הָאוֹרthatכִּיit wasgood;טוֹבandוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםseparatedיַּבְדֵּלthe lightבֵּין הָאוֹרfrom the darkness.וּבֵין הַחֹשֶׁךְ
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםcalledיִּקְרָאthe lightלָאוֹר“Day,”יוֹםand the darknessוְלַחֹשֶׁךְhe calledקָרָא“Night.”לָיְלָהAnd there wasוַיְהִיeveningעֶרֶבand there wasוַיְהִיmorning,בֹקֶרoneאֶחָדday.יוֹם
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsaid,יֹּאמֶר“Let there beיְהִיa vaultרָקִיעַin the middleבְּתוֹךְof the waters,הַמָּיִםand let it separateוִיהִי מַבְדִּילthe watersבֵּין מַיִםfrom the waters.”לָמָיִם
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםmadeיַּעַשׂthe vaultאֶת הָרָקִיעַand separatedוַיַּבְדֵּלthe watersבֵּין הַמַּיִםthat wereאֲשֶׁרunderמִתַּחַתthe vaultלָרָקִיעַfrom the watersוּבֵין הַמַּיִםthat wereאֲשֶׁרaboveמֵעַלthe vault.לָרָקִיעַAnd it wasוַיְהִיso.כֵן
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםcalledיִּקְרָאthe vaultלָרָקִיעַ“Heavens.”שָׁמָיִםAnd there wasוַיְהִיeveningעֶרֶבand there wasוַיְהִיmorning,בֹקֶרa secondשֵׁנִיday.יוֹם
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsaid,יֹּאמֶר“Letיִקָּווּthe watersהַמַּיִםunderמִתַּחַתthe heavensהַשָּׁמַיִםbe gatheredיִקָּווּintoאֶלoneאֶחָדplace,מָקוֹםandוְletתֵרָאֶהthe dry groundהַיַּבָּשָׁהappear.”תֵרָאֶהAnd it wasוַיְהִיso.כֵן
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםcalledיִּקְרָאthe dry groundלַיַּבָּשָׁה“Earth,”אֶרֶץand the gatheringוּלְמִקְוֵהof the watersהַמַּיִםhe calledקָרָא“Seas.”יַמִּיםAndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsawיַּרְאthatכִּיit wasgood.טוֹב
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsaid,יֹּאמֶר“Letתַּדְשֵׁאthe earthהָאָרֶץsproutתַּדְשֵׁאvegetation:דֶּשֶׁאplantsעֵשֶׂבyieldingמַזְרִיעַseed,זֶרַעandfruitפְּרִיtreesעֵץbearingעֹשֶׂהfruitפְּרִיaccording to its kind,לְמִינוֹthat hasאֲשֶׁרits seedזַרְעוֹin it,בוֹon the earth.”עַל הָאָרֶץAnd it wasוַיְהִיso.כֵן
Andוַthe earthהָאָרֶץbrought forthתּוֹצֵאvegetation:דֶּשֶׁאplantsעֵשֶׂבyieldingמַזְרִיעַseedזֶרַעaccording to its kind,לְמִינֵהוּand treesוְעֵץbearingעֹשֶׂהfruitפְּרִיthat hasאֲשֶׁרits seedזַרְעוֹin it,בוֹaccording to its kind.לְמִינֵהוּAndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsawיַּרְאthatכִּיit wasgood.טוֹב
And there wasוַיְהִיeveningעֶרֶבand there wasוַיְהִיmorning,בֹקֶרa thirdשְׁלִישִׁיday.יוֹם
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsaid,יֹּאמֶר“Let there beיְהִיlightsמְאֹרֹתin the vaultבִּרְקִיעַof the heavensהַשָּׁמַיִםto separateלְהַבְדִּילthe dayבֵּין הַיּוֹםfrom the night,וּבֵין הַלָּיְלָהand let them beוְהָיוּfor signsלְאֹתֹתand for appointed timesוּלְמוֹעֲדִיםand for daysוּלְיָמִיםand years;וְשָׁנִים
and let them beוְהָיוּlightsלִמְאוֹרֹתin the vaultבִּרְקִיעַof the heavensהַשָּׁמַיִםto give lightלְהָאִירon the earth.”עַל הָאָרֶץAnd it wasוַיְהִיso.כֵן
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםmadeיַּעַשׂthe twoאֶת שְׁנֵיgreatהַגְּדֹלִיםlights:הַמְּאֹרֹתthe greaterהַגָּדֹלlightאֶת הַמָּאוֹרto ruleלְמֶמְשֶׁלֶתthe day,הַיּוֹםand the lesserהַקָּטֹןlightוְאֶת הַמָּאוֹרto ruleלְמֶמְשֶׁלֶתthe night,הַלַּיְלָהand the stars.וְאֵת הַכּוֹכָבִים
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsetיִּתֵּןthemאֹתָםin the vaultבִּרְקִיעַof the heavensהַשָּׁמָיִםto give lightלְהָאִירon the earth,עַל הָאָרֶץ
and to ruleוְלִמְשֹׁלover the dayבַּיּוֹםand over the night,וּבַלַּיְלָהand to separateוּלֲהַבְדִּילthe lightבֵּין הָאוֹרfrom the darkness.וּבֵין הַחֹשֶׁךְAndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsawיַּרְאthatכִּיit wasgood.טוֹב
And there wasוַיְהִיeveningעֶרֶבand there wasוַיְהִיmorning,בֹקֶרa fourthרְבִיעִיday.יוֹם
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsaid,יֹּאמֶר“Letיִשְׁרְצוּthe watersהַמַּיִםswarmיִשְׁרְצוּwith swarmsשֶׁרֶץof living beings,נֶפֶשׁ חַיָּהandוְletיְעוֹפֵףbirdsעוֹףflyיְעוֹפֵףaboveעַלthe earthהָאָרֶץacross the faceעַל פְּנֵיof the vaultרְקִיעַof the heavens.”הַשָּׁמָיִם
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםcreatedיִּבְרָאthe greatהַגְּדֹלִיםsea monstersאֶת הַתַּנִּינִםand everyוְאֵת כָּלliving beingנֶפֶשׁ הַחַיָּהthat moves,הָרֹמֶשֶׂתwith whichאֲשֶׁרthe watersהַמַּיִםswarm,שָׁרְצוּaccording to their kinds,לְמִינֵהֶםand everyוְאֵת כָּלwingedכָּנָףbirdעוֹףaccording to its kind.לְמִינֵהוּAndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsawיַּרְאthatכִּיit wasgood.טוֹב
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםblessedיְבָרֶךְthem,אֹתָםsaying,לֵאמֹר“Be fruitfulפְּרוּand multiplyוּרְבוּand fillוּמִלְאוּthe watersאֶת הַמַּיִםin the seas,בַּיַּמִּיםand let the birdsוְהָעוֹףmultiplyיִרֶבon the earth.”בָּאָרֶץ
And there wasוַיְהִיeveningעֶרֶבand there wasוַיְהִיmorning,בֹקֶרa fifthחֲמִישִׁיday.יוֹם
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsaid,יֹּאמֶר“Letתּוֹצֵאthe earthהָאָרֶץbring forthתּוֹצֵאliving beingsנֶפֶשׁ חַיָּהaccording to their kind:לְמִינָהּlivestockבְּהֵמָהand creeping thingsוָרֶמֶשׂand animalsוְחַיְתוֹof the earthאֶרֶץaccording to their kind.”לְמִינָהּAnd it wasוַיְהִיso.כֵן
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםmadeיַּעַשׂthe animalsאֶת חַיַּתof the earthהָאָרֶץaccording to their kind,לְמִינָהּand the livestockוְאֶת הַבְּהֵמָהaccording to their kind,לְמִינָהּand everyוְאֵת כָּלcreeping thingרֶמֶשׂof the groundהָאֲדָמָהaccording to its kind.לְמִינֵהוּAndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsawיַּרְאthatכִּיit wasgood.טוֹב
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsaid,יֹּאמֶר“Let us makeנַעֲשֶׂהthe human beingאָדָםin our image,בְּצַלְמֵנוּaccording to our likeness;כִּדְמוּתֵנוּand let them ruleוְיִרְדּוּover the fishבִדְגַתof the seaהַיָּםand over the birdsוּבְעוֹףof the skyהַשָּׁמַיִםand over the livestockוּבַבְּהֵמָהand over allוּבְכָלthe earthהָאָרֶץand over everyוּבְכָלcreeping thingהָרֶמֶשׂthat creepsהָרֹמֵשׂon the earth.”עַל הָאָרֶץ
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםcreatedיִּבְרָאthe human beingאֶת הָאָדָםin his image;בְּצַלְמוֹin the imageבְּצֶלֶםof Elohimאֱלֹהִיםhe createdבָּרָאhim;אֹתוֹmaleזָכָרand femaleוּנְקֵבָהhe createdבָּרָאthem.אֹתָם
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםblessedיְבָרֶךְthem,אֹתָםandוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsaidיֹּאמֶרto them,לָהֶם“Be fruitfulפְּרוּand multiplyוּרְבוּand fillוּמִלְאוּthe earthאֶת הָאָרֶץand subdue it,וְכִבְשֻׁהָand ruleוּרְדוּover the fishבִּדְגַתof the seaהַיָּםand over the birdsוּבְעוֹףof the skyהַשָּׁמַיִםand over everyוּבְכָלanimalחַיָּהthat creepsהָרֹמֶשֶׂתon the earth.”עַל הָאָרֶץ
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsaid,יֹּאמֶר“Look,הִנֵּהI have givenנָתַתִּיyouלָכֶםeveryאֶת כָּלplantעֵשֶׂבyieldingזֹרֵעַseedזֶרַעthat isאֲשֶׁרon the faceעַל פְּנֵיof allכָלthe earth,הָאָרֶץand everyוְאֶת כָּלtreeהָעֵץthat hasאֲשֶׁר בּוֹfruitפְרִי עֵץyieldingזֹרֵעַseed;זָרַעit will beיִהְיֶהfoodלְאָכְלָהfor you.לָכֶם
And to everyוּלְכָלanimalחַיַּתof the earthהָאָרֶץand to everyוּלְכָלbirdעוֹףof the skyהַשָּׁמַיִםand to everythingוּלְכֹלthat creepsרוֹמֵשׂon the earth,עַל הָאָרֶץthat has life,אֲשֶׁר בּוֹ נֶפֶשׁ חַיָּהI giveeveryאֶת כָּלgreenיֶרֶקplantעֵשֶׂבfor food.”לְאָכְלָהAnd it wasוַיְהִיso.כֵן
AndוַElohimאֱלֹהִיםsawיַּרְאeverythingאֶת כָּלthatאֲשֶׁרhe had made,עָשָׂהand look,וְהִנֵּהit wasveryמְאֹדgood.טוֹבAnd there wasוַיְהִיeveningעֶרֶבand there wasוַיְהִיmorning,בֹקֶרthe sixthהַשִּׁשִּׁיday.יוֹם
