Look,הִנֵּהYHWHיְהוָהis emptyingבּוֹקֵקthe earthהָאָרֶץand laying it waste;וּבוֹלְקָהּand he distortsוְעִוָּהits surfaceפָנֶיהָand scattersוְהֵפִיץits inhabitants.יֹשְׁבֶיהָ
And it will be,וְהָיָהas with the people,כָעָםso with the priest;כַּכֹּהֵןas with the slave,כַּעֶבֶדso with his master;כַּאדֹנָיוas with the female slave,כַּשִּׁפְחָהso with her mistress;כַּגְּבִרְתָּהּas with the buyer,כַּקּוֹנֶהso with the seller;כַּמּוֹכֵרas with the lender,כַּמַּלְוֶהso with the borrower;כַּלֹּוֶהas with the creditor,כַּנֹּשֶׁהso with the one whoכַּאֲשֶׁרowes him.נֹשֶׁא בוֹ
Emptied,הִבּוֹקthe earthהָאָרֶץwill be emptied;תִּבּוֹקand plundered,וְהִבּוֹזit will be plundered;תִּבּוֹזforכִּיYHWHיְהוָהhas spokenדִּבֶּרthis word.אֶת הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה
The earthהָאָרֶץmourns,אָבְלָהwithers;נָבְלָהthe worldתֵּבֵלlanguishes,אֻמְלְלָהwithers;נָבְלָהthe exaltedמְרוֹםof the peopleעַםof the earthהָאָרֶץlanguish.אֻמְלָלוּ
And the earthוְהָאָרֶץhas been pollutedחָנְפָהunderתַּחַתits inhabitants;יֹשְׁבֶיהָforכִּיthey have oversteppedעָבְרוּthe instructions,תוֹרֹתthey have changedחָלְפוּthe statute,חֹקthey have brokenהֵפֵרוּthe eternalעוֹלָםcovenant.בְּרִית
Thereforeעַל כֵּןa curseאָלָהdevoursאָכְלָהthe earth,אֶרֶץand those who dwellיֹשְׁבֵיin itבָהּare held guilty;וַיֶּאְשְׁמוּthereforeעַל כֵּןthe inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵיof the earthאֶרֶץare scorched,חָרוּand fewמִזְעָרmortalsאֱנוֹשׁare left.וְנִשְׁאַר
The new wineתִּירוֹשׁmourns,אָבַלthe vineגָפֶןlanguishes;אֻמְלְלָהallכָּלthe gladשִׂמְחֵיof heartלֵבsigh.נֶאֶנְחוּ
The rejoicingמְשׂוֹשׂof the tambourinesתֻּפִּיםhas ceased,שָׁבַתthe uproarשְׁאוֹןof those who exultעַלִּיזִיםhas ended,חָדַלthe rejoicingמְשׂוֹשׂof the lyreכִּנּוֹרhas ceased.שָׁבַת
With songבַּשִּׁירthey do notלֹאdrinkיִשְׁתּוּwine;יָיִןintoxicating drinkשֵׁכָרis bitterיֵמַרto those who drink it.לְשֹׁתָיו
The townקִרְיַתof formlessnessתֹּהוּis broken;נִשְׁבְּרָהeveryכָּלhouseבַּיִתis shut,סֻגַּרso that no one enters.מִבּוֹא
An outcryצְוָחָהover the wineעַל הַיַּיִןin the streets;בַּחוּצוֹתallכָּלjoyשִׂמְחָהhas grown dark;עָרְבָהthe rejoicingמְשׂוֹשׂof the earthהָאָרֶץhas gone into exile.גָּלָה
Desolationשַׁמָּהis leftנִשְׁאַרin the city,בָּעִירand with a crashוּשְׁאִיָּהthe gateשָׁעַרis battered.יֻכַּת
Forכִּיthusכֹהit will beיִהְיֶהin the middleבְּקֶרֶבof the earth,הָאָרֶץamongבְּתוֹךְthe peoples:הָעַמִּיםlike the beatingכְּנֹקֶףof an olive tree,זַיִתlike the gleaningsכְּעוֹלֵלֹתwhenאִםthe grape harvestבָצִירis finished.כָּלָה
Theyהֵמָּהlift upיִשְׂאוּtheir voice,קוֹלָםthey shout for joy;יָרֹנּוּover the loftinessבִּגְאוֹןof YHWHיְהוָהthey cry outצָהֲלוּfrom the sea.מִיָּם
Thereforeעַל כֵּןin the regions of lightבָּאֻרִיםhonorכַּבְּדוּYHWH,יְהוָהin the coastlandsבְּאִיֵּיof the sea,הַיָּםthe nameשֵׁםof YHWH,יְהוָהElohimאֱלֹהֵיof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
From the endמִכְּנַףof the earthהָאָרֶץwe have heardשָׁמַעְנוּsongs:זְמִרֹת“Ornamentצְבִיfor the righteous!”לַצַּדִּיקBut I said,וָאֹמַר“Leannessרָזִיto me,לִיleannessרָזִיto me!לִיWoeאוֹיto me!לִיTraitorsבֹּגְדִיםbetray,בָּגָדוּand with betrayalוּבֶגֶדtraitorsבּוֹגְדִיםbetray.”בָּגָדוּ
Terrorפַּחַדand pitוָפַחַתand snareוָפָחare upon you,עָלֶיךָinhabitantיוֹשֵׁבof the earth!הָאָרֶץ
And it will happen:וְהָיָהthe one who fleesהַנָּסfrom the soundמִקּוֹלof the terrorהַפַּחַדwill fallיִפֹּלinto the pit,אֶל הַפַּחַתand the one who climbs upוְהָעוֹלֶהout of the middleמִתּוֹךְof the pitהַפַּחַתwill be caughtיִלָּכֵדin the snare;בַּפָּחforכִּיthe floodgatesאֲרֻבּוֹתon highמִמָּרוֹםhave been opened,נִפְתָּחוּand the foundationsמוֹסְדֵיof the earthאָרֶץquake.וַיִּרְעֲשׁוּ
Broken,רֹעָהthe earthהָאָרֶץis broken;הִתְרֹעֲעָהsplit apart,פּוֹרthe earthאֶרֶץis split apart;הִתְפּוֹרְרָהshaken,מוֹטthe earthאָרֶץis shaken.הִתְמוֹטְטָה
Staggering,נוֹעַthe earthאֶרֶץstaggersתָּנוּעַlike a drunkard,כַּשִּׁכּוֹרand it swaysוְהִתְנוֹדְדָהlike a hut;כַּמְּלוּנָהand its transgressionפִּשְׁעָהּlies heavyוְכָבַדupon it,עָלֶיהָand it will fallוְנָפְלָהand will notוְלֹאriseקוּםagain.תֹסִיף
And it will happen,וְהָיָהon that day,בַּיּוֹם הַהוּאthat YHWHיְהוָהwill punishיִפְקֹד עַלthe armyצְבָאof the heightהַמָּרוֹםon high,בַּמָּרוֹםand the kingsוְעַל מַלְכֵיof the groundהָאֲדָמָהon the ground.עַל הָאֲדָמָה
And they will be gatheredוְאֻסְּפוּin a gatheringאֲסֵפָהas prisonersאַסִּירin the pit,עַל בּוֹרand they will be shut upוְסֻגְּרוּin the prison,עַל מַסְגֵּרand after manyוּמֵרֹבdaysיָמִיםthey will be visited.יִפָּקֵדוּ
And the moonוְ הַלְּבָנָהwill be confounded,חָפְרָהand the sunוּ הַחַמָּהashamed,בוֹשָׁהforכִּיYHWHיְהוָהTsevaotצְבָאוֹתwill reignמָלַךְon MountבְּהַרZionצִיּוֹןand in Jerusalem,וּבִירוּשָׁלִַםand beforeוְנֶגֶדhis eldersזְקֵנָיוthere will be glory.כָּבוֹד
