AndוַYHWHיְהוָהsaidיֹּאמֶרto Moses,אֶל מֹשֶׁה“Cutפְּסָלfor yourselfלְךָtwoשְׁנֵיtabletsלֻחֹתof stoneאֲבָנִיםlike the first ones,כָּרִאשֹׁנִיםand I will writeוְכָתַבְתִּיon the tabletsעַל הַלֻּחֹתthe wordsאֶת הַדְּבָרִיםthatאֲשֶׁרwereהָיוּon the firstעַל הָרִאשֹׁנִיםtablets,הַלֻּחֹתwhichאֲשֶׁרyou broke.שִׁבַּרְתָּ
And beוֶהְיֵהreadyנָכוֹןfor the morning,לַבֹּקֶרand come upוְעָלִיתָin the morningבַבֹּקֶרto Mountאֶל הַרSinai,סִינַיand present yourselfוְנִצַּבְתָּto meלִיthereשָׁםon the topעַל רֹאשׁof the mountain.הָהָר
Noלֹאmanוְאִישׁshall come upיַעֲלֶהwith you,עִמָּךְand alsoוְגַםlet noאַלmanאִישׁbe seenיֵרָאon allבְּכָלthe mountain;הָהָרnot evenגַּםthe flocksהַצֹּאןand the herdsוְהַבָּקָרshallאַלgrazeיִרְעוּin front ofאֶל מוּלthatהַהוּאmountain.”הָהָר
So he cutוַיִּפְסֹלtwoשְׁנֵיtabletsלֻחֹתof stoneאֲבָנִיםlike the first ones;כָּרִאשֹׁנִיםand Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהrose earlyיַּשְׁכֵּםin the morningבַבֹּקֶרand went upוַיַּעַלto Mountאֶל הַרSinai,סִינַיasכַּאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהhad commandedצִוָּהhim,אֹתוֹand he tookוַיִּקַּחin his handבְּיָדוֹtwoשְׁנֵיtabletsלֻחֹתof stone.אֲבָנִים
And YHWHוַ יְהוָהdescendedיֵּרֶדin the cloudבֶּעָנָןand stoodוַיִּתְיַצֵּבwith himעִמּוֹthere,שָׁםand proclaimedוַיִּקְרָאthe nameבְשֵׁםof YHWH.יְהוָה
And YHWHוַ יְהוָהpassed byיַּעֲבֹרbefore himעַל פָּנָיוand proclaimed,וַיִּקְרָא“YHWH,יְהוָהYHWH,יְהוָהan Elאֵלmercifulרַחוּםand gracious,וְחַנּוּןslowאֶרֶךְto anger,אַפַּיִםand aboundingוְרַבin loyal loveחֶסֶדand faithfulness,וֶאֱמֶת
keepingנֹצֵרloyal loveחֶסֶדfor thousands,לָאֲלָפִיםforgivingנֹשֵׂאiniquityעָוֺןand transgressionוָפֶשַׁעand sin,וְחַטָּאָהbut who will by no meansוְנַקֵּה לֹאleave the guilty unpunished,יְנַקֶּהcalling to accountפֹּקֵדthe iniquityעֲוֺןof fathersאָבוֹתon sonsעַל בָּנִיםand on sons’וְעַל בְּנֵיsons,בָנִיםto the thirdעַל שִׁלֵּשִׁיםand to the fourth generation.”וְעַל רִבֵּעִים
And Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהhurriedיְמַהֵרto bowוַיִּקֹּדto the groundאַרְצָהand worshiped.וַיִּשְׁתָּחוּ
And he said,וַיֹּאמֶר“If,אִםplease,נָאI have foundמָצָאתִיfavorחֵןin your eyes,בְּעֵינֶיךָAdonai,אֲדֹנָיlet Adonaiאֲדֹנָיgo,יֵלֶךְplease,נָאin our midst;בְּקִרְבֵּנוּalthoughכִּיitהוּאis a stubbornקְשֵׁה עֹרֶףpeople,עַםforgiveוְסָלַחְתָּour iniquityלַעֲוֺנֵנוּand our sin,וּלְחַטָּאתֵנוּand take us as your inheritance.”וּנְחַלְתָּנוּ
And he said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Look,הִנֵּהIאָנֹכִיam makingכֹּרֵתa covenant.בְּרִיתBeforeנֶגֶדallכָּלyour peopleעַמְּךָI will doאֶעֱשֶׂהwondersנִפְלָאֹתthatאֲשֶׁרhave notלֹאbeen createdנִבְרְאוּin allבְכָלthe earthהָאָרֶץor in anyוּבְכָלnation;הַגּוֹיִםand allוְ כָלthe peopleהָעָםamong whomאֲשֶׁר בְקִרְבּוֹyou areאַתָּהshall seeרָאָהthe workאֶת מַעֲשֵׂהof YHWH,יְהוָהforכִּיit isהוּאfearsome,נוֹרָאwhatאֲשֶׁרIאֲנִיam doingעֹשֶׂהwith you.עִמָּךְ
Keepשְׁמָרfor yourselfלְךָwhatאֵת אֲשֶׁרIאָנֹכִיam commanding youמְצַוְּךָtoday.הַיּוֹםLook,הִנְנִיI am driving outגֹרֵשׁbefore youמִפָּנֶיךָthe Amorite,אֶת הָאֱמֹרִיand the Canaanite,וְהַכְּנַעֲנִיand the Hittite,וְהַחִתִּיand the Perizzite,וְהַפְּרִזִּיand the Hivite,וְהַחִוִּיand the Jebusite.וְהַיְבוּסִי
Take careהִשָּׁמֶר לְךָnotפֶּןto makeתִּכְרֹתa covenantבְּרִיתwith the inhabitantsלְיוֹשֵׁבof the landהָאָרֶץto whichאֲשֶׁר עָלֶיהָyouאַתָּהare going,בָּאlestפֶּןit becomeיִהְיֶהa snareלְמוֹקֵשׁin your midst.בְּקִרְבֶּךָ
Butכִּיtheir altarsאֶת מִזְבְּחֹתָםyou shall tear down,תִּתֹּצוּןand their standing stonesוְאֶת מַצֵּבֹתָםyou shall break,תְּשַׁבֵּרוּןand their Asherahsוְאֶת אֲשֵׁרָיוyou shall cut down.תִּכְרֹתוּן
Forכִּיyou shall notלֹאbow downתִשְׁתַּחֲוֶהto anotherלְ אַחֵרgod,אֵלforכִּיYHWH,יְהוָהwhose name isשְׁמוֹJealous,קַנָּאisהוּאa jealousקַנָּאEl.אֵל
Lestפֶּןyou makeתִּכְרֹתa covenantבְּרִיתwith the inhabitantsלְיוֹשֵׁבof the land,הָאָרֶץand they prostitute themselvesוְזָנוּafter their godsאַחֲרֵי אֱלֹהֵיהֶםand sacrificeוְזָבְחוּto their gods,לֵאלֹהֵיהֶםand someone invitesוְקָרָאyou,לְךָand you eatוְאָכַלְתָּof his sacrifice,מִזִּבְחוֹ
and you takeוְלָקַחְתָּof his daughtersמִבְּנֹתָיוfor your sons,לְבָנֶיךָand his daughtersוְ בְנֹתָיוprostitute themselvesזָנוּafter their godsאַחֲרֵי אֱלֹהֵיהֶןand makeוְyour sonsאֶת בָּנֶיךָprostitute themselvesהִזְנוּafter their gods.אַחֲרֵי אֱלֹהֵיהֶן
Godsאֱלֹהֵיof cast metalמַסֵּכָהyou shall notלֹאmakeתַעֲשֶׂהfor yourself.לָּךְ
The Feastאֶת חַגof Unleavened Breadהַמַּצּוֹתyou shall keep:תִּשְׁמֹרsevenשִׁבְעַתdaysיָמִיםyou shall eatתֹּאכַלunleavened bread,מַצּוֹתasאֲשֶׁרI commandedצִוִּיתִyou,ךָat the appointed timeלְמוֹעֵדof the monthחֹדֶשׁof Abib,הָאָבִיבforכִּיin the monthבְּחֹדֶשׁof Abibהָאָבִיבyou came outיָצָאתָfrom Egypt.מִמִּצְרָיִם
Everything that first opensכָּל פֶּטֶרthe wombרֶחֶםis mine,לִיand allוְכָלyour livestockמִקְנְךָthat is male,תִּזָּכָרthe firstbornפֶּטֶרof oxשׁוֹרand lamb.וָשֶׂה
And the firstbornוּפֶטֶרof a donkeyחֲמוֹרyou shall redeemתִּפְדֶּהwith a lamb;בְשֶׂהand ifוְאִםyou do notלֹאredeem it,תִפְדֶּהyou shall break its neck.וַעֲרַפְתּוֹAllכֹּלthe firstbornבְּכוֹרof your sonsבָּנֶיךָyou shall redeem.תִּפְדֶּהAnd noneוְלֹאshall appearיֵרָאוּbefore meפָנַיempty-handed.רֵיקָם
Sixשֵׁשֶׁתdaysיָמִיםyou shall work,תַּעֲבֹדbut on the seventh dayוּבַיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִיyou shall cease;תִּשְׁבֹּתin plowing timeבֶּחָרִישׁand in harvestוּבַקָּצִירyou shall cease.תִּשְׁבֹּת
And the Feastוְחַגof Weeksשָׁבֻעֹתyou shall observeתַּעֲשֶׂהfor yourself,לְךָthe first fruitsבִּכּוּרֵיof the harvestקְצִירof wheat,חִטִּיםand the Feastוְחַגof Ingatheringהָאָסִיףat the turnתְּקוּפַתof the year.הַשָּׁנָה
Threeשָׁלֹשׁtimesפְּעָמִיםin the yearבַּשָּׁנָהallכָּלyour malesזְכוּרְךָshall appearיֵרָאֶהbeforeאֶת פְּנֵיthe Lord,הָאָדֹןYHWH,יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
ForכִּיI will dispossessאוֹרִישׁnationsגּוֹיִםbefore youמִפָּנֶיךָand enlargeוְהִרְחַבְתִּיyour territory,אֶת גְּבוּלֶךָand noוְלֹאmanאִישׁshall covetיַחְמֹדyour landאֶת אַרְצְךָwhen you go upבַּעֲלֹתְךָto appearלֵרָאוֹתbeforeאֶת פְּנֵיYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָthreeשָׁלֹשׁtimesפְּעָמִיםin the year.בַּשָּׁנָה
You shall notלֹאslaughterתִשְׁחַטthe bloodדַּםof my sacrificeזִבְחִיwithעַלleavened bread,חָמֵץand the sacrificeזֶבַחof the Feastחַגof Passoverהַפָּסַחshall notוְלֹאremain overnightיָלִיןuntil the morning.לַבֹּקֶר
The bestרֵאשִׁיתof the first fruitsבִּכּוּרֵיof your groundאַדְמָתְךָyou shall bringתָּבִיאto the houseבֵּיתof YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohim.אֱלֹהֶיךָYou shall notלֹאboilתְבַשֵּׁלa young goatגְּדִיin the milkבַּחֲלֵבof its mother.”אִמּוֹ
AndוַYHWHיְהוָהsaidיֹּאמֶרto Moses,אֶל מֹשֶׁה“Writeכְּתָבfor yourselfלְךָtheseהָאֵלֶּהwords,אֶת הַדְּבָרִיםforכִּיaccording toעַל פִּיtheseהָאֵלֶּהwordsהַדְּבָרִיםI have madeכָּרַתִּיa covenantבְּרִיתwith youאִתְּךָand with Israel.”וְאֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל
And he wasוַיְהִיthereשָׁםwith YHWHעִם יְהוָהfortyאַרְבָּעִיםdaysיוֹםand fortyוְאַרְבָּעִיםnights;לַיְלָהbreadלֶחֶםhe did notלֹאeat,אָכַלand waterוּמַיִםhe did notלֹאdrink.שָׁתָהAnd he wroteוַיִּכְתֹּבon the tabletsעַל הַלֻּחֹתthe wordsאֵת דִּבְרֵיof the covenant,הַבְּרִיתthe tenעֲשֶׂרֶתwords.הַדְּבָרִים
And it happened,וַיְהִיwhen Mosesבְּ מֹשֶׁהcame downרֶדֶתfrom MountמֵהַרSinai,סִינַיwith the twoוּשְׁנֵיtabletsלֻחֹתof the testimonyהָעֵדֻתin the handבְּיַדof Mosesמֹשֶׁהas he came downבְּרִדְתּוֹfrom the mountain,מִן הָהָרthat Mosesוּמֹשֶׁהdid notלֹאknowיָדַעthatכִּיthe skinעוֹרof his faceפָּנָיוshoneקָרַןbecause he had spokenבְּדַבְּרוֹwith him.אִתּוֹ
And Aaronוַ אַהֲרֹןand allוְכָלthe sonsבְּנֵיof IsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלsawיַּרְאMoses,אֶת מֹשֶׁהand look,וְהִנֵּהthe skinעוֹרof his faceפָּנָיוshone,קָרַןand they were afraidוַיִּירְאוּto come nearמִגֶּשֶׁתto him.אֵלָיו
But Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהcalledיִּקְרָאto them,אֲלֵהֶםand Aaronאַהֲרֹןand allוְכָלthe chiefsהַנְּשִׂאִיםin the communityבָּעֵדָהreturnedוַיָּשֻׁבוּto him,אֵלָיוand Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהspokeיְדַבֵּרto them.אֲלֵהֶם
And afterwardוְאַחֲרֵי כֵןallכָּלthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלcame near,נִגְּשׁוּand he commanded themוַיְצַוֵּםallאֵת כָּלthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהhad spokenדִּבֶּרwith himאִתּוֹon MountבְּהַרSinai.סִינָי
And when Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהfinishedיְכַלspeakingמִדַּבֵּרwith them,אִתָּםhe putוַיִּתֵּןon his faceעַל פָּנָיוa veil.מַסְוֶה
And wheneverוּבְMosesמֹשֶׁהwent inבֹאbeforeלִפְנֵיYHWHיְהוָהto speakלְדַבֵּרwith him,אִתּוֹhe would take offיָסִירthe veilאֶת הַמַּסְוֶהuntilעַדhe came out;צֵאתוֹand he would come outוְיָצָאand speakוְדִבֶּרto the sonsאֶל בְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלwhatאֵת אֲשֶׁרhe had been commanded.יְצֻוֶּה
And the sonsוְ בְנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלwould seeרָאוּthe faceאֶת פְּנֵיof Moses,מֹשֶׁהthatכִּיthe skinעוֹרof Moses’מֹשֶׁהfaceפְּנֵיshone;קָרַןand Mosesוְ מֹשֶׁהwould put backהֵשִׁיבthe veilאֶת הַמַּסְוֶהon his faceעַל פָּנָיוuntilעַדhe went inבֹּאוֹto speakלְדַבֵּרwith him.אִתּוֹ
