Then we turnedוַנֵּפֶןand went upוַנַּעַלby the wayדֶּרֶךְto Bashan,הַבָּשָׁןand Ogוַ עוֹגkingמֶלֶךְof Bashanהַבָּשָׁןcame outיֵּצֵאto meet us,לִקְרָאתֵנוּheהוּאand allוְכָלhis people,עַמּוֹfor warלַמִּלְחָמָהat Edrei.אֶדְרֶעִי
YHWHיְהוָהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto me,אֵלַי“Do notאַלfearתִּירָאhim,אֹתוֹforכִּיinto your handבְיָדְךָI have givenנָתַתִּיhimאֹתוֹand allוְאֶת כָּלhis peopleעַמּוֹand his land;וְאֶת אַרְצוֹand you shall doוְעָשִׂיתָto himלּוֹasכַּאֲשֶׁרyou didעָשִׂיתָto Sihonלְסִיחֹןkingמֶלֶךְof the Amorites,הָאֱמֹרִיwho livedאֲשֶׁר יוֹשֵׁבin Heshbon.”בְּחֶשְׁבּוֹן
So YHWHוַ יְהוָהour Elohimאֱלֹהֵינוּgaveיִּתֵּןinto our handבְּיָדֵנוּalsoגַּםOgאֶת עוֹגkingמֶלֶךְof Bashanהַבָּשָׁןand allוְאֶת כָּלhis people,עַמּוֹand we struck himוַנַּכֵּהוּuntilעַדnoבִּלְתִּיsurvivorשָׂרִידwas leftהִשְׁאִירto him.לוֹ
We capturedוַנִּלְכֹּדallאֶת כָּלhis citiesעָרָיוat that time;בָּעֵת הַהִואthere wasהָיְתָהnotלֹאa townקִרְיָהthatאֲשֶׁרwe did notלֹאtakeלָקַחְנוּfrom them:מֵאִתָּםsixtyשִׁשִּׁיםcities,עִירallכָּלthe regionחֶבֶלof Argob,אַרְגֹּבthe kingdomמַמְלֶכֶתof Ogעוֹגin Bashan.בַּבָּשָׁן
Allכָּלtheseאֵלֶּהwere citiesעָרִיםfortifiedבְּצֻרוֹתwith a highגְבֹהָהwall,חוֹמָהgates,דְּלָתַיִםand bars,וּבְרִיחַbesidesלְבַדveryמְאֹדmanyהַרְבֵּהunwalled towns.מֵעָרֵי הַפְּרָזִי
We devoted them to destruction,וַנַּחֲרֵם אוֹתָםasכַּאֲשֶׁרwe didעָשִׂינוּto Sihonלְסִיחֹןkingמֶלֶךְof Heshbon,חֶשְׁבּוֹןdevoting to destructionהַחֲרֵםeveryכָּלcity:עִירmen,מְתִםwomen,הַנָּשִׁיםand little ones.וְהַטָּף
But allוְכָלthe livestockהַבְּהֵמָהand the spoilוּשְׁלַלof the citiesהֶעָרִיםwe took as plunderבַּזּוֹנוּfor ourselves.לָנוּ
So at that timeבָּעֵת הַהִואwe tookוַנִּקַּחthe landאֶת הָאָרֶץout of the handמִיַּדof the twoשְׁנֵיkingsמַלְכֵיof the Amoritesהָאֱמֹרִיwho wereאֲשֶׁרbeyondבְּעֵבֶרthe Jordan,הַיַּרְדֵּןfrom the WadiמִנַּחַלArnonאַרְנֹןtoעַדMountהַרHermonחֶרְמוֹן
(the SidoniansצִידֹנִיםcallיִקְרְאוּHermonלְחֶרְמוֹןSirion,שִׂרְיֹןand the AmoritesוְהָאֱמֹרִיcallיִקְרְאוּitלוֹSenir),שְׂנִיר
allכֹּלthe citiesעָרֵיof the plateau,הַמִּישֹׁרallוְכָלGilead,הַגִּלְעָדand allוְכָלBashan,הַבָּשָׁןas far asעַדSalecahסַלְכָהand Edrei,וְאֶדְרֶעִיcitiesעָרֵיof the kingdomמַמְלֶכֶתof Ogעוֹגin Bashan.בַּבָּשָׁן
(ForכִּיonlyרַקOgעוֹגkingמֶלֶךְof Bashanהַבָּשָׁןwas leftנִשְׁאַרof the remnantמִיֶּתֶרof the Rephaim.הָרְפָאִיםLook,הִנֵּהhis bedעַרְשׂוֹwas a bedעֶרֶשׂof iron.בַּרְזֶלIs it notהֲלֹה הִואin Rabbahבְּרַבַּתof the sonsבְּנֵיof Ammon?עַמּוֹןNineתֵּשַׁעcubitsאַמּוֹתwas its lengthאָרְכָּהּand fourוְאַרְבַּעcubitsאַמּוֹתits width,רָחְבָּהּby the cubitבְּאַמַּתof a man.)אִישׁ
Thisהַזֹּאתlandוְאֶת הָאָרֶץwe took possession ofיָרַשְׁנוּat that time.בָּעֵת הַהִואFrom Aroer,מֵעֲרֹעֵרwhichאֲשֶׁרis byעַלthe WadiנַחַלArnon,אַרְנֹןand halfוַחֲצִיthe hill countryהַרof Gileadהַגִּלְעָדand its cities,וְעָרָיוI gaveנָתַתִּיto the Reubenitesלָרֻאוּבֵנִיand to the Gadites.וְלַגָּדִי
The restוְיֶתֶרof Gileadהַגִּלְעָדand allוְכָלBashan,הַבָּשָׁןthe kingdomמַמְלֶכֶתof Og,עוֹגI gaveנָתַתִּיto the halfלַחֲצִיtribeשֵׁבֶטof Manasseh,הַמְנַשֶּׁהallכֹּלthe regionחֶבֶלof Argob.הָאַרְגֹּב(As for allלְכָלthatהַהוּאBashan,הַבָּשָׁןit is calledיִקָּרֵאa landאֶרֶץof Rephaim.רְפָאִים
Jairיָאִירsonבֶּןof Manassehמְנַשֶּׁהtookלָקַחallאֶת כָּלthe regionחֶבֶלof Argobאַרְגֹּבas far asעַדthe borderגְּבוּלof the Geshuritesהַגְּשׁוּרִיand the Maacathites,וְהַמַּעֲכָתִיand calledוַיִּקְרָאthemאֹתָםby his name,עַל שְׁמוֹBashanאֶת הַבָּשָׁןHavvoth-jair,חַוֺּת יָאִירtoעַדthisהַזֶּהday.)הַיּוֹם
To MachirוּלְמָכִירI gaveנָתַתִּיGilead.אֶת הַגִּלְעָד
To the Reubenitesוְלָרֻאוּבֵנִיand to the GaditesוְלַגָּדִיI gaveנָתַתִּיfromמִןGileadהַגִּלְעָדas far asוְעַדthe WadiנַחַלArnon,אַרְנֹןthe middleתּוֹךְof the wadiהַנַּחַלas the border,וּגְבֻלand as far asוְעַדthe WadiהַנַּחַלJabbok,יַבֹּקthe borderגְּבוּלof the sonsבְּנֵיof Ammon;עַמּוֹן
and the Arabah,וְהָעֲרָבָהwith the Jordanוְהַיַּרְדֵּןas the border,וּגְבֻלfrom Chinnerethמִכִּנֶּרֶתas far asוְעַדthe Seaיָםof the Arabah,הָעֲרָבָהthe SaltהַמֶּלַחSea,יָםunderתַּחַתthe slopesאַשְׁדֹּתof Pisgahהַפִּסְגָּהon the east.מִזְרָחָה
I commandedוָאֲצַוyouאֶתְכֶםat that time,בָּעֵת הַהִואsaying,לֵאמֹר“YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֵיכֶםhas givenנָתַןyouלָכֶםthisהַזֹּאתlandאֶת הָאָרֶץto take possession of it.לְרִשְׁתָּהּArmed,חֲלוּצִיםyou shall cross overתַּעַבְרוּbeforeלִפְנֵיyour brothers,אֲחֵיכֶםthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלallכָּלthe valiant men.בְּנֵי חָיִל
Onlyרַקyour wives,נְשֵׁיכֶםyour little ones,וְטַפְּכֶםand your livestockוּמִקְנֵכֶם(I knowיָדַעְתִּיthatכִּיyou haveלָכֶםmuchרַבlivestock)מִקְנֶהshall stayיֵשְׁבוּin your citiesבְּעָרֵיכֶםthatאֲשֶׁרI have givenנָתַתִּיyou,לָכֶם
untilעַד אֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהgives restיָנִיחַto your brothersלַאֲחֵיכֶםas to you,כָּכֶםand theyהֵםalsoגַםtake possession ofוְיָרְשׁוּthe landאֶת הָאָרֶץthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֵיכֶםis givingנֹתֵןthemלָהֶםbeyondבְּעֵבֶרthe Jordan.הַיַּרְדֵּןThen you shall return,וְשַׁבְתֶּםeachאִישׁto his possessionלִירֻשָּׁתוֹthatאֲשֶׁרI have givenנָתַתִּיyou.”לָכֶם
And I commandedוְ צִוֵּיתִיJoshuaאֶת יְהוֹשׁוּעַat that time,בָּעֵת הַהִואsaying,לֵאמֹר“Your eyesעֵינֶיךָare the ones that have seenהָרֹאֹתallאֵת כָּלthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֵיכֶםhas doneעָשָׂהto theseלִ הָאֵלֶּהtwoשְׁנֵיkings.הַמְּלָכִיםSoכֵּןYHWHיְהוָהwill doיַעֲשֶׂהto allלְכָלthe kingdomsהַמַּמְלָכוֹתinto whichאֲשֶׁר שָׁמָּהyouאַתָּהare crossing.עֹבֵר
Do notלֹאfear them,תְִּירָאוּםforכִּיYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohim,אֱלֹהֵיכֶםheהוּאis the one who fightsהַנִּלְחָםfor you.”לָכֶם
At that timeבָּעֵת הַהִואI pleadedוָאֶתְחַנַּןwithאֶלYHWH,יְהוָהsaying,לֵאמֹר
“AdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH,יְהוִהyouאַתָּהhave begunהַחִלּוֹתָto showלְהַרְאוֹתyour servantאֶת עַבְדְּךָyour greatnessאֶת גָּדְלְךָand your strongהַחֲזָקָהhand;וְאֶת יָדְךָforאֲשֶׁרwhatמִיgodאֵלis there in the heavensבַּשָּׁמַיִםor on the earthוּבָאָרֶץwhoאֲשֶׁרcan doיַעֲשֶׂהaccording to your worksכְמַעֲשֶׂיךָand according to your mighty deeds?וְכִגְבוּרֹתֶךָ
Pleaseנָּאlet me cross overאֶעְבְּרָהand seeוְאֶרְאֶהthe goodהַטּוֹבָהlandאֶת הָאָרֶץthatאֲשֶׁרis beyondבְּעֵבֶרthe Jordan,הַיַּרְדֵּןthisהַזֶּהgoodהַטּוֹבhill countryהָהָרand Lebanon.”וְהַלְּבָנוֹן
But YHWHוַ יְהוָהwas furiousיִּתְעַבֵּרwith meבִּיbecause of youלְמַעַנְכֶםand did notוְלֹאlistenשָׁמַעto me.אֵלָיYHWHיְהוָהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto me,אֵלַי“Enough!רַב לָךְDo notאַלspeakדַּבֵּרto meאֵלַיagainתּוֹסֶף עוֹדabout thisבַּ הַזֶּהmatter.דָּבָר
Go upעֲלֵהto the topרֹאשׁof Pisgah,הַפִּסְגָּהand lift upוְשָׂאyour eyesעֵינֶיךָwestward,יָמָּהnorthward,וְצָפֹנָהsouthward,וְתֵימָנָהand eastward,וּמִזְרָחָהand lookוּרְאֵהwith your eyes,בְעֵינֶיךָforכִּיyou shall notלֹאcrossתַעֲבֹרthisהַזֶּהJordan.אֶת הַיַּרְדֵּן
And commandוְצַוJoshua,אֶת יְהוֹשֻׁעַand strengthen himוְחַזְּקֵהוּand make him firm,וְאַמְּצֵהוּforכִּיheהוּאshall cross overיַעֲבֹרbeforeלִפְנֵיthisהַזֶּהpeople,הָעָםand heוְהוּאshall makeיַנְחִילthemאוֹתָםinheritיַנְחִילthe landאֶת הָאָרֶץthatאֲשֶׁרyou will see.”תִּרְאֶה
So we stayedוַנֵּשֶׁבin the valleyבַּגָּיְאoppositeמוּלBeth-peor.בֵּית פְּעוֹר
