PraiseהַלְלוּYah.יָהּGive thanksהוֹדוּto YHWH,לַיהוָהforכִּיhe is good,טוֹבforכִּיhis loyal loveחַסְדּוֹis forever.לְעוֹלָם
Whoמִיcan speakיְמַלֵּלof the mighty deedsגְּבוּרוֹתof YHWH,יְהוָהor make heardיַשְׁמִיעַallכָּלhis praise?תְּהִלָּתוֹ
Happy areאַשְׁרֵיthose who keepשֹׁמְרֵיjustice,מִשְׁפָּטwho doעֹשֵׂהrighteousnessצְדָקָהat allבְכָלtimes.עֵת
Remember me,זָכְרֵנִיYHWH,יְהוָהwith the favorבִּרְצוֹןyou show your people;עַמֶּךָvisit meפָּקְדֵנִיwith your salvation,בִּישׁוּעָתֶךָ
that I may seeלִרְאוֹתthe goodבְּטוֹבַתof your chosen ones,בְּחִירֶיךָthat I may rejoiceלִשְׂמֹחַin the joyבְּשִׂמְחַתof your nation,גּוֹיֶךָthat I may gloryלְהִתְהַלֵּלwithעִםyour inheritance.נַחֲלָתֶךָ
We have sinnedחָטָאנוּwithעִםour fathers;אֲבוֹתֵינוּwe have committed iniquity,הֶעֱוִינוּwe have acted wickedly.הִרְשָׁעְנוּ
Our fathersאֲבוֹתֵינוּin Egyptבְמִצְרַיִםdid notלֹאunderstandהִשְׂכִּילוּyour wonders;נִפְלְאוֹתֶיךָthey did notלֹאrememberזָכְרוּthe abundanceרֹבof your loyal love,חֲסָדֶיךָbut rebelledוַיַּמְרוּbyעַלthe sea,יָםat the Seaבְּיַםof Reeds.סוּף
Yet he saved themוַיּוֹשִׁיעֵםfor the sake ofלְמַעַןhis name,שְׁמוֹto make knownלְהוֹדִיעַhis might.גְּבוּרָתוֹ
And he rebukedוַיִּגְעַרthe Seaבְּיַםof Reeds,סוּףand it dried up;וַיֶּחֱרָבand he led themוַיּוֹלִיכֵםthrough the depthsבַּתְּהֹמוֹתas through the wilderness.כַּמִּדְבָּר
And he saved themוַיּוֹשִׁיעֵםfrom the handמִיַּדof the one who hated them,שׂוֹנֵאand redeemed themוַיִּגְאָלֵםfrom the handמִיַּדof the enemy.אוֹיֵב
And the watersוַ מַיִםcoveredיְכַסּוּtheir adversaries;צָרֵיהֶםnot oneאֶחָד לֹאof themמֵהֶםwas left.נוֹתָר
Then they believedוַיַּאֲמִינוּhis words;בִדְבָרָיוthey sangיָשִׁירוּhis praise.תְּהִלָּתוֹ
Quicklyמִהֲרוּthey forgotשָׁכְחוּhis works;מַעֲשָׂיוthey did notלֹאwaitחִכּוּfor his counsel.לַעֲצָתוֹ
And they hadוַיִּתְאַוּוּa great cravingתַאֲוָהin the wilderness,בַּמִּדְבָּרand put Elוַ אֵלto the testיְנַסּוּin the desert.בִּישִׁימוֹן
And he gaveוַיִּתֵּןthemלָהֶםwhat they asked,שֶׁאֱלָתָםbut sentוַיְשַׁלַּחleannessרָזוֹןinto their soul.בְּנַפְשָׁם
And they were jealousוַיְקַנְאוּof Mosesלְמֹשֶׁהin the camp,בַּמַּחֲנֶהof Aaron,לְאַהֲרֹןthe holy oneקְדוֹשׁof YHWH.יְהוָה
The earthאֶרֶץopenedתִּפְתַּחand swallowedוַתִּבְלַעDathan,דָּתָןand coveredוַתְּכַסthe companyעַל עֲדַתof Abiram.אֲבִירָם
And a fireוַ אֵשׁblazedתִּבְעַרin their company;בַּעֲדָתָםa flameלֶהָבָהburned upתְּלַהֵטthe wicked.רְשָׁעִים
They madeיַעֲשׂוּa calfעֵגֶלat Horebבְּחֹרֵבand bowed downוַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּto a cast image.לְמַסֵּכָה
And they exchangedוַיָּמִירוּtheir gloryכְּבוֹדָםfor the likenessבְּתַבְנִיתof an oxשׁוֹרthat eatsאֹכֵלgrass.עֵשֶׂב
They forgotשָׁכְחוּElאֵלtheir savior,מוֹשִׁיעָםwho had doneעֹשֶׂהgreat thingsגְדֹלוֹתin Egypt,בְּמִצְרָיִם
wondersנִפְלָאוֹתin the landבְּאֶרֶץof Ham,חָםawesome thingsנוֹרָאוֹתbyעַלthe Seaיַםof Reeds.סוּף
And he saidוַיֹּאמֶרhe would destroy them,לְהַשְׁמִידָםhad notלוּלֵיMoses,מֹשֶׁהhis chosen one,בְחִירוֹstoodעָמַדin the breachבַּפֶּרֶץbefore him,לְפָנָיוto turn backלְהָשִׁיבhis furyחֲמָתוֹfrom destroying.מֵהַשְׁחִית
And they despisedוַיִּמְאֲסוּ בְּthe pleasantחֶמְדָּהland;אֶרֶץthey did notלֹאbelieveהֶאֱמִינוּhis word.לִדְבָרוֹ
And they grumbledוַיֵּרָגְנוּin their tents;בְאָהֳלֵיהֶםthey did notלֹאlistenשָׁמְעוּto the voiceבְּקוֹלof YHWH.יְהוָה
And he raisedוַיִּשָּׂאhis handיָדוֹto them,לָהֶםto make them fallלְהַפִּיל אוֹתָםin the wilderness,בַּמִּדְבָּר
and to makeוּלְהַפִּילtheir offspringזַרְעָםfallוּלְהַפִּילamong the nations,בַּגּוֹיִםand to scatter themוּלְזָרוֹתָםin the lands.בָּאֲרָצוֹת
And they joined themselvesוַיִּצָּמְדוּto Baal-peor,לְבַעַל פְּעוֹרand ateוַיֹּאכְלוּsacrificesזִבְחֵיof the dead.מֵתִים
And they provoked him to angerוַיַּכְעִיסוּwith their deeds,בְּמַעַלְלֵיהֶםand a plagueמַגֵּפָהbroke outוַתִּפְרָץamong them.בָּם
Then Phinehasוַ פִּינְחָסstood upיַּעֲמֹדand intervened,וַיְפַלֵּלand the plagueוַ הַמַּגֵּפָהwas stopped.תֵּעָצַר
And it was countedוַתֵּחָשֶׁבto himלוֹas righteousnessלִצְדָקָהfrom generationלְדֹרto generationוָדֹרforever.עַד עוֹלָם
And they provoked him to wrathוַיַּקְצִיפוּatעַלthe watersמֵיof Meribah,מְרִיבָהand it went badlyוַיֵּרַעfor Mosesלְמֹשֶׁהbecause of them;בַּעֲבוּרָם
forכִּיthey rebelledהִמְרוּagainst his spirit,רוּחוֹand he spoke rashlyוַיְבַטֵּאwith his lips.בִּשְׂפָתָיו
They did notלֹאdestroyהִשְׁמִידוּthe peoples,הָעַמִּיםasאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהhad toldאָמַרthem,לָהֶם
but they mixedוַיִּתְעָרְבוּwith the nationsבַגּוֹיִםand learnedוַיִּלְמְדוּtheir works.מַעֲשֵׂיהֶם
And they servedוַיַּעַבְדוּtheir idols,עֲצַבֵּיהֶםand they becameוַיִּהְיוּto themלָהֶםa snare.לְמוֹקֵשׁ
And they sacrificedוַיִּזְבְּחוּtheir sonsבְּנֵיהֶםand their daughtersוְ בְּנוֹתֵיהֶםto the demons.לַשֵּׁדִים
And they shedוַיִּשְׁפְּכוּinnocentנָקִיblood,דָםthe bloodדַּםof their sonsבְּנֵיהֶםand of their daughters,וּבְנוֹתֵיהֶםwhomאֲשֶׁרthey sacrificedזִבְּחוּto the idolsלַעֲצַבֵּיof Canaan;כְנָעַןand the landוַ הָאָרֶץwas pollutedתֶּחֱנַףwith blood.בַּדָּמִים
And they became uncleanוַיִּטְמְאוּby their works,בְמַעֲשֵׂיהֶםand prostituted themselvesוַיִּזְנוּby their deeds.בְּמַעַלְלֵיהֶם
And the angerוַ אַףof YHWHיְהוָהburnedיִּחַרagainst his people,בְּעַמּוֹand he abhorredוַיְתָעֵבhis inheritance.נַחֲלָתוֹ
And he gave themוַיִּתְּנֵםinto the handבְּיַדof the nations,גּוֹיִםand those who hated themשֹׂנְאֵיהֶםruledוַיִּמְשְׁלוּover them.בָהֶם
And their enemiesאוֹיְבֵיהֶםoppressed them,וַיִּלְחָצוּםand they were humbledוַיִּכָּנְעוּunderתַּחַתtheir hand.יָדָם
Manyרַבּוֹתtimesפְּעָמִיםhe would deliver them,יַצִּילֵםbut theyוְהֵמָּהrebelledיַמְרוּin their counsel,בַעֲצָתָםand sank lowוַיָּמֹכּוּin their iniquity.בַּעֲוֺנָם
And he lookedוַיַּרְאon their distressבַּצַּר לָהֶםwhen he heardבְּשָׁמְעוֹtheir cry.רִנָּתָם
And he rememberedוַיִּזְכֹּרfor themלָהֶםhis covenant,בְּרִיתוֹand relentedוַיִּנָּחֵםaccording to the abundanceכְּרֹבof his loyal love.חֲסָדָיו
And he grantedוַיִּתֵּןthemאוֹתָםcompassionלְרַחֲמִיםbeforeלִפְנֵיallכָּלwho took them captive.שׁוֹבֵיהֶם
Save us,הוֹשִׁיעֵנוּYHWHיְהוָהour Elohim,אֱלֹהֵינוּand gather usוְקַבְּצֵנוּfrom amongמִןthe nations,הַגּוֹיִםto give thanksלְהֹדוֹתto your holyקָדְשֶׁךָname,לְשֵׁםto gloryלְהִשְׁתַּבֵּחַin your praise.בִּתְהִלָּתֶךָ
Blessed beבָּרוּךְYHWH,יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלfrom eternityמִן הָעוֹלָםto eternity.וְעַד הָעוֹלָםAnd let allוְ כָּלthe peopleהָעָםsay,אָמַר“Amen.”אָמֵןPraiseהַלְלוּYah.יָהּ
